Thunder Mountain and Dinosaur Refurb

Man, I am sad about these refurbished for our Aug 27-Sept. 5th trip. Any chance Disney changes their mind on these refurbs or are they set in stone? These are my two favorite rides!

Plans occasionally change. I think this BTMRR refurb was pushed back once.
Unfortunately WDW didn't manage to refurb the ride when they had the lengthy closure for the queue re-do a few years ago

Thanks! I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. I was looking forward to riding BTMRR at night during MNSSHP.

I'm in the same boat! BTMRR is my very favourite ride! I don't understand why they are closing it at that time when there are times of the year that are less busy. I'm also hoping they change their mind and delay it!

There's really no slow times at Disney. BTM refurb was already pushed back

I feel your pain, but keep your hopes up and keep checking ... BTMRR was supposed to be closed during our July trip and then it got pushed back!

Us too for Sept. Look at the bright side. Frozen at Epcot will be ready and POC is back open. Throw a new soarin in there and we are happy campers.

I looked on the touring plans websiteI don't know by heart, just know that they are closed on my trip dates Aug 27- Sept 5

Oh no! Hubby just told me sum of all thrills will also be shut down before we go! Last date June 30 for that attraction. Boo. We really liked that one too!

Thanks, I just checked there. Big Thunder is 8/8 to 11/19, which affects us as well. Dinosaur is 7/25 to 9/30, which doesn't.

I think we lucked out on our last trip, only Astro Orbiter and Tough to be a Bug were closed.

I'm in the same boat and they are two of my DS's favorites. I don't think FEA "a princess ride" is going to be an even trade in his opinion. lol.

Feel you. BTMRR is one of my favs. But it got pushed back once this year already so I'm pretty confident it will happen and then will be open for the holiday season. I hope Dinosaur doesn't lop over though -- that is THE ride DS wants to try.

Yup we'll be there too during these refurbs and they are 2 of our favorites! I always normally go in November and have lucked out the last few years with no rides being down, so I guess we've been spoiled lol. My sister was pregnant the last time we went in 2014, so she couldn't ride Dinosaur, which is her favorite ride.. I had to break the news to her last week, not fun lol. BTMR is my absolute favorite ride to go on at night, so I am super bummer about that.

Also confused about IASW - this was once on the refurb schedule for that time too, then taken off.. But when I look at the ride hours during our trip, it says "no times available", where the other rides have hours posted during the same days that I checked for. Usually I wouldn't care about Small World, but we're bringing my 18 month old niece, and we were excited to bring her on this. Oh well, next time!

If any of you are frequent visitors you should be prepared for this. Especially now that we are 5 years away from the 50th. If Disneyland's 60th preparations are any indication a lot of rides will be going down for major refurbs in the next few years. Space Mountain at DL was down for over a year and the one in MK desperately needs some love. Same with Splash Mountain. It will probably be the new norm from now on that multiple major rides will be down so that Disney can pull off a great show and celebration for 2021 to 2023 with the 50th anniversary blending into a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney Studios.

Also gutted about dinosaur and BTM closed during our trip, can't imagine going to MK and not riding BTM. Fingers are crossed they both get cancelled but i know it's pretty doubtful. Unfortunately Soarin and Frozen aren't really any consolation to our family.
