Well, I did an entire stereo "ride thru" of Alien Encounter on the latest episode of The Meandering Mouse. I must say that it REALLY made me sad and now I REALLY miss that attraction. It was a C ticket type attraction but, man, the storyline was just great! The Stitch storyline is just weak and does nothing for me. Oh boy, lets watch an obnoxious little blue guy be obnoxious....The AA is great looking but who cares when the story falls on it's face??!?!! Perhaps Stitch is just one of those love or hate type of character's though...I dunno.

My favorite part of AE was the way they poked fun at corporate greed and the way corporations talk this HUGE game. In reality, we find out that they are fallable just like the rest of us. "If it can't be done with XS, it shouldn't be done at all!" Hahaha...man, that's great stuff.

What do others miss about this attraction??

If you'd like to revisit the attraction thru stereo audio, check out the latest episode of The Meandering Mouse. Info on accessing the podcast is shown below. Have fun!!

Well, here's a direct link for you to enjoy:

Fun stuff for sure.

I do remember enjoying Alien Encounter, but I don't remember details about it. I agree that Stitch has got to go. I like Stitch, my kids like Stitch, but the ride sucks!!! Even my 4 year old (3 at the time) was a little disappointed with the ride.

I love AE, I thought it added a nice teen and young adult factor to the MK, that was desperately needed. Even my mom loved this ride. Finally went on Stitch last trip and none of us liked it, and I'm a huge Stitch fan.

Now that's interesting!! I thought that fans of Stitch would simply love seeing him in an attraction. Hearing that you all don't even like it really scares me ;) Sounds like the attraction may be hurting Stitch rather than helping him...hrmm.

The worst part of Stitch is that awful chili cheese dog burp! GROSS!!! I swear I could smell that for at least 2 hours after we got out of there. Never again.

I really miss Alien Encounters! I wish they would bring it back. Maybe if they ever do decide to do a villains park they could bring it there.

I loved AE, but it gave my wife a panic attack every time she rode it.

We love Stitch and his ride and it honestly baffles me that so many people hate it.

Long live SGE. :cheer2:

:sad2: The first time I rode Alien Encounter I was 9 years old. It scared the bejeebies out of me! I was hooked! The effect with Stitch just isn't the same.

A friend of mine tells of his first time there in which he saw two girls running out of Alien Encounter crying in fear. The girls turned around and ran immediately back on the ride. That is an impressive reaction that Stitch just doesn't achieve.

It's not the attraction that's hurting Stitch so much as the overmarketing of the character. There's just too much "Stitch" everything. Nice way to kill off a character.

Personally, I'd like to see this theater/attraction go back to its roots and maybe do something in conjunction with NASA. I didn't particularly care for AE, and I think Stitch is cuter, but basically the same show.

Something scientific would be good, or even basing an attraction on the movie "Mission to Mars" would be interesting

I didn't like AE. While I don't think it's a great attraction, I think SGE is cute. I was expecting to hate it, after all the chatter here, but I enjoyed it. I knew when the chili dog part was coming, so I held my breath and was able to miss out on that.

Loved AE, enjoyed the scary alien tremendously, loved X-S Tech . It was only a slight exagerration of corporate greed, which made it hilarious. HATE Stitch. If I had to power to change one thing in the MK, it would be to bring back AE.

I loved AE, It scared me half to death but everytime(I came to Disney) I wanted more and more. I agree with the majority, Stitch isn't the same. It's not scary and in my opinion is a waste of time. It even hurts(when Stitch "jumps on your shoulders") and I hate the chili dog smell!(also) I don't know why they picked to use Stitch because it gets kids in, disgusts them, hurts their shoulders, then lets them out :confused3

Yeah, the number one complaint I hear is over that chili dog smell. The thing that makes it the worst? It's WARM when it comes out after your nose...eww!!!

Hehe.

Stitch is such a butthead. I wait in line for 45 minutes to get burped on :rolleyes2 . Sheesh, I coulda just had my dad do that and I wouldn't of had to wait at all :)

Damn right I miss Alien Encounter!

AE was my favorite attraction in Tomorrowland. I looked forward to it on every trip and tried to see it more than once if I could.

Stitch's Great Mistake is a terrible ruination of what was an imaginative, funny, sophisticated attraction. AE had style, AE had intelligence, AE had humor both subtle and gross (I've been siezed! - Something you ate? - - I think it's my mother-in-law!), and AE had a sharp point (excessive greed can get you eaten by winged alien monsters).

Stitch's Great Mistake replaced the considerable voice talents of Tim Curry (as SIR - Simulated Intelligence Robotics) with a grating and annoying generic drill seargent. It replaced some wonderful live-action film staring the love-to-hate-him Jeffery Jones as Clench, the always-enjoyable Kathy Nijimy as Dr. Femus, and the near-omnipresent Kevin Pollack as Dr. Spinlok - replaced all that talent with a run-of-the-mill animated film that WDA could have done in its sleep.

For more info on the cast, see this nice fan page:http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/glassmonkeyface/disney/XS/cast.html

AE may have been scary for 4-year olds, but I never found it particularly disturbing for adults. Certainly a case could be made that such a sophisticated and grown-up attraction didn't fit in MK, which is mostly geared toward kids, but instead of gutting it and turning it into a travesty, Disney could have moved it to Epcot's Future World, where it would have been right at home and livened up Innoventions considerably. Heck, it would even fit in right next to Mission: Space if they could find enough area to built a new structure for it.

Seeing Stitch for me is like seeing the body of a beloved pet who has passed on hung up with gaudy streamers as a pinata. What they've done to my old favorite is both painful and offensive to me, and I can't wait till it gets demolished in favor of something totally new.

I wouldn't go on AE if you paid me. I too am a huge Stitch Fan, I take my stuffed one with me to the parks & he has a blast. I find the Stitch attraction is OK. I don't think it is a great attraction and I can see it losing popularity really quickly. It seems to be an either love it or hate it attraction for most people. It's there so I go on it, kind of like Snow White's Scary Adventure.
