Disney or not Disney?

I always thought that they weren't...but when I d/led these songs, the titles were found under Disney - Song - Movie. Does anyone know the history behind these? I know Anastasia starts with a 20th Century Fox advertisement sooo...

I've always been very curious about this. Let me know if you know please!

Like you, I was sure Anastasia was not Disney. I think many assumed it was because it was animated. But I could be wrong. It has been awhile since the movie was out.
I am not familar with Thumbelina (a movie).

I found this old blurb about Anastasia:
"Fox Home Entertainment said Tuesday that it would spend an unprecedented $100 million to market the video version of the studio's first animated feature, Anastasia (1997), due for release on April 28."

I should have copied the entire blurb. I thought it was interesting. Here is the remainder:
"The company plans to employ a policy conceived by Disney of making the video available "for a limited time only" every few years. Disney, appearing to play a chess game with Fox, announced today (Wednesday) that it plans to release the Robin Williams live-action family film Flubber (1997) one week earlier, on April 21st. It also plans a May 19th release of the made-for-video Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, an animated, feature-length film featuring the voices of Farrah Fawcett, Wayne Knight and Carol Channing."

Neither of them is Disney, but they are both Don Bluth productions. He started off working for Disney. They were two of my daughter's favorite animated movies. He also did the first Land Before Time and American Tail movies (but not their sequels.)

I find Anastasia in particular has a real Disney-like feel to it. I love the soundtrack - we had it on tape and I think we wore it out.

Neither are Disney at all. Many songs that you download have the wrong titles on them. I've come across this problem many times.

Many songs that come from animated movies are just put under Disney even though they are not Disney at all. :)

Anastasia was released through Fox and Thumbelina was released through Warner Bros.

I could never figure out why someone chose to make a children's (or family) animated feature about such a tragic story? :confused3 Usually there is a happy ending. Certainly not for the Csar and his executed family. Just playing on a myth she may have escaped. :confused3

I adore both these movies...thank you for your input!

And maddiel, you're right...the music is amazing, so incredibly beautiful and original.
