Me- Boo, 30 yr old mommy, 5 mos preggers and self-appointed family “cruise director” and DVC fan

DH- Michael 30, laid back vacationer & Homer Simpson’s personality twin- just tell him where to go and when to eat

DD- Isabella, just turned 2 Princess, a go with the flow easy baby who’s been traveling since 6 weeks

Our trip February 24 – March 1 Boardwalk Villas, 5 day hopper passes which we may or may not use each day

We arrived in Orlando after an uneventful flight (the best kind to have) anxious to shed our heavy winter coats and the Chicago winter blahs! Our towncar driver met us in baggage claim, and I have to say that using the car service was absolutely the best way to go! I can’t understand how Mears is such a cash cow machine. It would have been more expensive for the 3 of us to shuttle back and forth, plus no grocery stop, and the endless wait of stopping at every resort. DH was thrilled with not have to schlep back and forth via bus and they did provide an adequate toddler booster seat. After a quick grocery stop- must have milk & grapes for DD and Lemon Diet Coke for me- we were checking in at Boardwalk. Even though it was only noon, they had a studio available. Actually it was a studio plus I guess, because it had a daybed too which worked out well for Isabella. We flipped the daybed around against the walls to make a pseudo cage- I mean toddler bed. She actually loved it, I think it felt more secure for her than a pulled out sofa bed. Since the community hall had finger painting posted as an activity, we decided to mosey over there. Note to self… do not take any route in sight of pool unless that is proposed destination. Isabella saw the pool and much like a coyote howling at the moon, tilted her head back and bellowed POOOOOOL! I was surprised she’d be so interested. We have an inground pool at home, and we did use it quite a bit last summer, but since it’s been in a lawn cocoon since Labor Day I was surprised she remembered how much fun she had. We thought once we got to the finger painting we could put pool time on back burner. Fa ged aboutit! There was a quiet pool next to community hall too. So she made one quick picture, looked up at us with those coyote eyes and howled POOOOOL. Needless to say, we spent the rest of the afternoon at the kiddie pool. That night we headed over for the Pooh character dinner at 1900 Fare at the Floridian. Isabella loved the characters and didn’t shy away from them. Rather, she stood up on the booth seat and tried to hail them like taxis to get them to come over. Because we had an early dinner time and it wasn’t very busy yet, she had plenty of interaction with all the character. In fact, on Tigger’s 4th pass she was by then more interested in arranging sugar packets and just gave him a quick wave of dismissal. Unfortunately, I can’t comment too much on the food. I spent the majority of our vacation fighting a terrible head cold and didn’t have a great sense of taste. Still, a cold in WDW is 1000x more bearable than a cold in Chicago!!!! Hubby said food was adequate- prime rib a little over done, good overall selection. I so glad 2yr olds don’t get charged for buffet meals as her highness’s dinner consisted of 1 bite of hot dog and 3 gummy bears. We’ll worry about nutrition back home, she’s on vacation too.

I can't wait to hear more! we'll be there in the fall with our 2 year old so you'll be giving us an idea of what to expect :)

Your report is very amusing, we are going in May w/ out 3-3/4 yr old GD. Hailing the characters like Taxi cabs really cracked me up. Looking forward to reading your report. Thanks

Thanks for the trip report. Very enjoyable and, as happens so often, I
learned something.

I have a 14 month-old DD who I hope to bring sometime in the next year.

So, your comments on the daybed, pool and finger-painting were helpful.

Glad you had a great time. Sharing with the little ones must be pure magic.

:) :) :)
