I saw another reort on the news this morning about a car being hit by a pumpkin thrown over an overpass on the highway in Massachusetts.

If I were the judge and had this punk in front of me, I would give him the stiffest, longest jail sentence allowed in the most hellish of prisons there was.

This makes me sick to my stomach. As far as I'm concerned, the punk(s) who did this are just as sick in the head as any murderer out there. How could anyone think this is funny? To hell with the damage you're doing to the car you're destroying - What about the person you are potentially killing and the people beyond that you could be killing when the person loses control of their car?

I just needed to vent about this. This makes me sick to my stomach.

A few years ago in MN some people did die when punks were throwing things off overpasses. I am sure they think they are funny but it is VERY dangerous.

Between the rocks and now the pumpkins, it's getting dangerous here in Mass!!! I know I have started looking up before I go under that bridge. What are these kids thinking of?? I'm not sure what the appeal is for them. I'm with you though......when that kid, and I can only hope it is a 'kid', stands in front of the judge, that judge gives it to him/her. Please, don't send them off in the custody of their parents with a slap on the wrist.

If I were driving on the highway and a pumpkin was thrown at my car, I would pull over and follow that piece of crap until I caught up with him, and pray for his speedy recovery inside intensive care.

My God - I can't even imagine this. My wife 16 weeks pregnant, having a pumpkin land through her windshield - It scares me to even think about.

A few years back a new bride & her husband were driving on I-95 here in Northen Virginia, coming back from their honeymoon (in Florida, I believe). Some criminal threw something(rock? pumpkin? I can't quite remember...) through their windshield from an overpass.
This woman barely survived, was in a coma but has since somewhat (miraculously) recovered.
These lowlife scum...words cannot express. I'm with you boomhauer...if I caught up with them after they threw that stuff off your Massachusetts overpass?...I'd be chanting "No jury of my peers will ever convict me..." :rolleyes1

agnes!

I agree, this is awful behavior, and hope they get caught and punished.

Have to digress, though, to a story from my childhood.

When I was about 5 years old, I was playing with the older kids in the neighborhood. For whatever reason, they started throwing small rocks from one side of the street to the other. (Very small side street in our subdivision)

I had to do the same as the big kids, so I found a good sized rock (for a 5-yr old) and threw it as hard as I could. Just then a car, driven by the crabbiest guy in the neighborhood, was coming up the street. All the other kids took off running, leaving me there to watch as my missile didn't quite make it all the way across the street, but hit the car's front bumper. :scared:

Of course, the man got out of the car and started SCREAMING at me that he was going to call the police. :furious:

I burst into tears, certain I was headed for jail, but was soon rescued by my dad, who made the situation better. He did lecture me about not doing everything those other kids do. (If they jumped off the bridge........... )

Whenever I hear about throwing rocks, all I can remember is this scared little kid and my first near brush with the law.

We had someone throw a pumpkin at the back of our Explorer when it was parked on the street, it hit so hard we had to replace the lift gate and had glass and pumkin in the front seats and dashboard. It does a lot of damage, It is not funny or a joke.

There is little if any consideration left in this society for complying with rules and laws. Too many people are just out for themselves, whether it be for their own "fun", their own financial gain, or their own ability to exert power. What's needed is a rebirth of respect for social contracts. People need to start obeying traffic lights. People need to stop trying to avoid paying taxes. People need to respect queues and put themselves at the end of them. And so on.

boom - I must have missed the post about your wife's pregnancy. Or if I didn't I had forgotten. Congratulations! And best wishes for a safe, comfortable pregnancy and delivery, and a healthy baby.

Kids throwing objects at cars really bothers me. A couple of years ago some "kids" (probable early/mid teens) were throwing chunks of ice at cars from an overpass on a local highway. One of the ice chunks went threw the windshield of a van and killed the woman in the passenger seat. So senseless and sad. Didn't the parents of these kids ever tell them not to throw things at cars/people/animals :confused3 .

I had a friend in college who never talked about her mother. One day she finally told us the story. She was in the backseat of the car with her sister and her mom and dad were in the front. She was about 4 or 6 at the time, I don't remember the exact age and some kids thought it would be funny to throw huge almost boulder style rocks off the highway over pass. One struck the windshield of her car and basically killed her mother on impact.

I don't think they ever caught the kids. :sad2:

A year or two ago there was an incident where a couple of kids threw a large rock off an overpass and it smashed through the windshield and just about killed the woman. She survived but is severely disfigured on one whole side of her face. They caught the kids and they are serving their jail time. I forget how long they will be in there but I know it's for quite awhile.

Maybe they should be forced to sit in a car and have a boulder dropped on it, until they suffered the same fate as this poor woman.

Punks.

Thank you very much. Things are going just perfectly this time (Thank God), and we look forward to getting no sleep and being up to our eyeballs in doodie in just a few months!

(just kidding - I'm already not sleeping out of excitement!!!)
