Yuck.
What happens if you book a split stay, make your FP+ reservation at 60 days out, and then later have to cancel the first part of the split stay. Do your FP+ reservations stay in tact?
I'm hearing from the FP+ thread that FP+ booked under a reservation that gets canceled might now be deleted after a time...
I think I posted this on the other thread, but I will post it here too in case it helps anyone.
I had a room-only reservation for the last week of August. I made my FP selections at 60 days. We then wanted to cancel the room (this was not done in an attempt to get the 60-day booking) and go offsite.
I tried to cancel between 60 and 30 days and I got a warning that I would lose my FPs so I stopped. Then on day 29 or so, I cancelled. I kept my FPs.
As of right now, two weeks out, I still have all of the FPs and I am able to change them and all of that. I will keep checking on them and hope they don't vanish.
Just thought I would share!
Yuck.
Folks this thread is not for debating whether or not this is a good, bad or allowable glitch.
Posts/posters who ignore this warning will be removed accordingly![]()
I have been combing over this thread to find the most recent info for my question but can't seem to find it.
If you are an AP and book a room for 1 night - how many days of FP can you book? Thanks for all the help!
Please review post 2041:
The length of the reservation or seven days, whichever is longer.
Interesting considering Pete Werner, owner of the DIS & Dreams Unlimited, has openly stated his opposition to this practice...
In the interest of full disclosure, I’m one of the owners of Dreams Unlimited Travel and our agency has a strict policy against ‘throwaway rooms.’

Just for reference, here's what happened to us at the begining of this month (from a previous post):
We decided over the weekend that we are not staying onsite, so I called Disney this morning to cancel the reservation (I no longer have the option to cancel or modify the reservation on My Disney Experience). The CM was very helpful, I told her I was scared of losing my FPs and she said not to worry -- our tickets were totally separate from the room-only reservation, canceling one had no effect on the other. So, she cancelled the room only reservation and I logged out & back into MDE -- and all my FPs were still there. Whew!
She also asked if I got the Magic Bands yet, and I said yes, and she said "Oh good -- those are yours to keep, you can still use them with your off site stay!"
Were you within 30 days at that point?
Yes, I was at about 26 days.

This is interesting -- it sounds like WDW is happy to ship the MBs whether or not you use the room. To me that changes the ethical calculus on keeping the throwaway and paying for it vs. canceling the throwaway once the MBs have shipped. If WDW doesn't care about giving away MBs, no need to keep a campsite and block others from using it. I thought Disney did care about that, given the extortionate prices they charge for MBs in the stores, but then again they shipped tons of unwanted MBs to return visitors without blinking. I guess they don't care about the "plain" ones.
