Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

I was being ironic. It doesn't matter if a person who books and pays for a 1 night stay actually sleeps in the room or not. The effect on everyone else will be identical under each scenario.

Noted, ones tone is often difficult to decipher via text :scratchin :)

Taken alone, the intended message was very subtle. But in context of comparing to the previous poster, the point being made becomes a little clearer.

...when you book 60 days put without staying on property you are taking fast passes away from another family that is staying on site

When you book 60 days out while staying on property 1 night you are taking fast passes away from another family that is staying on site.

My question is if I book a room for December how long out can you make fast pass pluses for the 60 day booking advantage. I know there is a 7 day rolling window... but say we book a night for December 1st. how long is the booking window...We are actually going to use the room but we are staying longer than the night that is booked. Just for an example if I booked a room for say December 1st. Can I book fast passes for the end of December ?
I hope this makes since... :)

Not sure where the 7 day rolling window comes from.

Taken from http://wdwuntangled.com/fastpass-plus/ :
How far in advance can I make FastPass+ selections?

If you have a Disney-operated Walt Disney World resort reservation, you can make FastPass+ selections starting at 60 days from your check-in date, up through the length of your reservation (including check-out day), for as many days as your ticket length. If you have tickets that are longer than your reservation, you can then continue you make additional FastPass+ selections 60 days from the date in question, up until your check-in date arrives. At that point, you cannot make selections beyond the 60th day from the check-in date, until you get to 30 days away as a non-resort guest as explained below.

To clarify by way of example, if your check-in date is July 1st and is for 5 days/4 nights (check out on July 5th), and you have a 10-day Magic Your Way ticket with No Expiration, you can begin making FastPass+ reservations on May 2nd, and can make FP+ selections for July 1st through the 5th (5 days worth). You still have five days left on your ticket (perhaps you are staying off-site later), so on May 7th you can book FastPass+ for July 6th (60 days from that date), and on May 8th you can boot July 7th, etc. As long as you have less days of FastPass+ booked than your ticket length, you can do this up until July 1st comes around, when you can book August 30th – but you can’t book beyond August 30th at all until you get to August 2nd, at which point you can book August 31st, and follow the 30 day rule from then.

I was meaning you can only book Fast pass plus for 7 days at a time.. Once you use day 1 of your fast pass selection you can book day 8 etc. :)

Let me try and explain and if I miss something Im sure others will chime in. Assuming you're talking about the night of Dec 1 you would be able to book fp's for both Dec 1st and 2nd 60 days out from Dec 1st. Then you would have the rolling 60 days thereafter.
We're doing 4-5 nights at the Dolphin then off site for the rest(we have overlapping ressies)
Dh and I will be in Orlando from the 24th of Sept to the 11th of Oct. We have 7 day passes and we've only used 6 days for fp bookings. I just went into to the MDE and checked to see how far out we could book and I was able to book fp's for the 17th of November(which I of course cancelled). Hope that helps :)

Actually you can book as many as the length of your ticket. Annual passes count as 7-day tickets in this regard.

Perfect and just what I was looking for, thanks! :)

Using a code that is online is hardly the same s a throwaway room. By using a coupon you are not taking anything away from anyone else. However when you book 60 days put without staying on property you are taking fast passes away from another family that is staying on site

I just finished exploiting the heck out of a 40% off clearance at Dillards this morning and my exploitation of Kohls is scheduled to arrive this afternoon!
The only crime that was done was the murder of my credit card! ;)

Your point is what most people are complaining about- booking 1 night and getting the benefits of staying on site the entire stay- although as I've said, it's not really the same benefits a true on site guest gets as far as fp+ and while better than 30 days, it still isn't very good. If true on site guests are having major issues getting what they want 5-6 days out from the start of their stay, only being able to book each day separately has to suck.

Funny thing is, they just released a ton of fp+ for this month recently so really, anyone who pays attention to these boards could've gotten what they needed most likely without spending extra and having to mess with all that. I like to think of it as karma...;)

I would feel better about you if you actually slept there, even though I don't have a camper or tent. ;)

Thankfully I don't care, and have a beautiful 5000 sq ft house waiting for our party of 9 at Reunion Resort. I will try and come to grips with my internal conflict while relaxing in our private hot tub and pool, and try and cap off the night by talking my beautiful wife into a "ride" in the elevator after the kids are asleep. :cool1:

What some strangers on a message board think of my tactics is of zero consequence to me. Giving my family the best Disney vacation possible is all that matters. Even if that means I am "working" the system.

Although there are people who probably do do this to get the bands, the bands really aren't terribly useful in and of themselves without actually staying in the resort. Sure, they can get you in to the park and utilize FP+ - but then so will the original park ticket.

About the only "plus" of the MB would be the automatic ride pictures/video - when it works - but that's only if you get the MemoryMaker package I believe. And I think that gets you a magicband as well.

Beyond that, you can't use it to get into the room if you don't go to it, you can't charge to the room unless you've checked in and set up the account, etc.

The real reason people would book the throwaway rooms is for the _extra_ perks that have little to do with the magicband directly.

Yes, there are people who will do this just to get the MB. We are doing it next year. We are offsiters who will never stay onsite because of our family size and our absolute belief that if have to cram into 2 hotel rooms and not have a kitchen, it is not a vacation. We will purchase MM. With four teens in our group, we know we will split up. We want the MB for easily obtaining ride photos on MM with a split group and because I don't want to send the actual tickets with the two 13 year old boys as they jaunt around by themselves. MBs for our group will be $96.92 including tax. A campsite will be $56.25 including tax. We booked a campsite.

I don't care about ADR ressies we won't make a single one. I don't care about EMH at all. Due to the time of year we travel and to the fact that our party doesn't care about A&E, I really don't even care about 30 v 60 day FP+, even though I know some people won't believe that.

If Disney charged a more realistic $7-10 for the MB, I wouldn't book the campsite at all.

I know. I'm an amoral human being to book a campsite, pay for it, not sleep on it, not book any ADRs, not abuse the FP system, but to scam Disney out of those MB.

Yup...that is the biggest reason for our throwaway. I want to let the kids design their mb. Yes we will book FP but I don't care about a&e or 7dmt. We are going during slow season and will be doing mnsshp so we will have plenty of opportunity to ride what we want. I am looking forward to 180+10 because I want to do bog dinner with the kids again. We loved the castle and beast and it is something we all want to do again.

I'm not young! :lmao:

Sadly for her, it will be only a 1 story ride! :rotfl2:

Dh and I (who are not that young either) were just sitting and sipping on glasses of wine while I read this to him. Let's pls from now on give warnings....red wine is hard to clean up after dh laughed so hard he spilled his:rotfl2:

I do a lot more reading of these posts then actually posting because sometimes I can't believe what people say and sometimes its not worth the effort of responding. By no means does this refer to anything you said here.
I am the queen of ordering online and looking up coupons to save extra money, and in the long run I always end up spending more, but I know its not hurting or effecting anyone else.
I have always stayed onsite and honestly really don't care when people can book their fastpasses onsite or offsite, however under the new system with the limit of three fast passes and those having shorter vacations having trouble getting fast passes 60 days out I hardly see this as an advantage for the 1000 of dollars Im choosing to spend on property. I always perferred EMH especially in the morning.
I have stated this on other threads that Im am truly grateful for these boards because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have been able to get all the fastpasses I wanted.
I have to admit I a little saddened now that the hunt for A&E is over.
Enjoy your vacation

I was post #10 more than 8 months ago. Hard to believe this is still being debated. Not so hard to believe that if WDW found anything wrong with the practice, they would have done something about it by now.

I'm still waiting to hear how many minutes/hours during a 24 hour interval I'm expected to be in the room or campsite that I paid for so that my use of that room or campsite is considered morally acceptable.

Is that information posted on a fairness website somewhere? Does anybody have a link?

But they probably don't even know about it. We all know they don't read these forums. Or so I've been told. A few times.

I was kidding...in case absurdity of my words didn't suffice, thought surely the ;) would...

:rotfl2: Thanks for the laugh. I like your perspective. I couldn't agree more as we will each have our own bedroom and bathroom a private pool/hot tub with WDW theming to boot. I think we will all be having a magical vacationpixiedust:

I thought you were kidding and I knew it was absurd but I think it's because some on this thread actually think that way that it gets confusing ;)
