Throwaway Room - Offsite to Onsite Stays

Thanks! And just to clarify, in order for this to work (linking our MDE to the group staying onsite the entire trip and booking FP+ 60 days out), I would still need to cancel my current package (which has us checking in to POR for one night at the end of our trip on May 19 (staying offsite from May 14 until then), and then booking the room and tickets separately, or does that matter now?
You need separately linked tickets because a package linked to the end of your trip does not benefit you at all.

Hoping someone can confirm my logic here (sorry if duplicate).

Planning on stay 4/14/18 (Fri) - 4/22/18 (Sun). Will likely stay at least one night onsite (4/14). The rest (4/15 -4/22) will be with parents RCI if it comes through (onsite or offsite). May not know till late in the game.

Planning to make an onsite reservation for 4/14-4/21 and make FP+ 60 days out for all days. If the RCI comes through, it is my understanding I can cancel all but the first onsite night (4/14) and keep all of my FP+. Does it matter if I wait till 30 day window has passed to cancel if I keep 1 onsite night? If I decided to cancel all onsite nights within the 30 day period, will I still keep my FPs?

Thanks in advance.

The problem is that you probably won't be able to cancel all but 1 night. Disney will most likely make you cancel it all and then re-book the 1 night you want.

The only time I did this I cancelled under 30 days, so I can't answer the + or - 30 day FP question.

I have read through everything and I am unclear about something. If you book a throwaway night specifically to be eligible for the bounceback offer, but don't actually stay in the room - how do you get the info about the bounceback offer? I am asking about this in case we don't get offered a bounceback offer during our stay in April/May. (I could book a throwaway night in August or Sept to get the offer).

How does the bounceback offer work? If we get one, will we be offered our same resort, the same time of year - or can you choose any resort and other times that are covered in the deal? We have been there 6 or 7 times and we have never received a bounceback offer, so I am unsure what the offers are. Sorry

If I book one night at a Disney resort and have an annual pass associated to my Disney experience, how many days will I be able to book the rolling fastpasses? Planning to stay off site for 10 additional days and would like to book fastpasses before the 30 day mark.

Without adding any additional tickets to your MDE Profile, the maximum is 7 days worth of FPs. That maximum is based on your AP and being offsite.

Yes. You can book FPs that correspond to the number of ticket entitlements that are linked to your MDE account.

Anyone with a valid ticket can book FPs.

Just to be clear, "up to the length of your ticket" does NOT indicate X number of days after your check out date. Lets say I have a reservation for the 1st with a 7 day park ticket attached to my account. I would be able to make FP+ reservations for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, and 10th. When I first read that statement I interpreted that as saying you would be cut off from making FP+ reservations at 7 days after your check out date.

"Correspond to the number of ticket entitlements." There's no mention of timeframe nor consecutive days - it's the total number of ticket entitlements as in one-to-one correspondence.

Thanks. The OP actually states "up to the length of your ticket." not "number of ticket entitlements." Standing alone they obviously sound he same, but when you put the former in the context of "when" you can make FP+ reservations rather than "how many days" you can make FP+ reservations it gets a bit murkyer.

60 day + advanced FP+ reservations for the length of stay of your throwaway room, including the check-in and check-out days, up to the length of your ticket.

I hope you understand everything on the board is vetted by a number of people. There are IT specialists, educators, and I'm a speech pathologist. Everything is evaluated to ensure it can be understood by the majority of DISers. :)

No need to get snarky. Your response to obxshark contained language that was NOT in the OP, which is why I asked my question to confirm what I believed to be true. Had the OP used the language you did, there wouldn't have been any question. While your response to obxshark didn't mention a time frame, the point in the OP that both myself AND obxshark were referring to was talking about what days for which you can make FP+ reservations (i.e. time frame), thus the confusion.

I do thank for for answering my question, I am no longer confused.

I wasn't being snarky. I was responding to your comments regarding my quote as I had no point of reference as to where my quote was originally posted. And in that specific case, obxsnark did understand "length of ticket."

Every reply I make is in response to the specific question posted and the manner in which it is written. I analyze communicative intent and word my responses accordingly. No snark intended.

That might explain why you are able to answer questions on here so accurately. You're able to answer a question using 25 words when it would take me no less than 250!

This info in thread was invaluable when we visited DW in December. Just want to say thanks again to those of you that keep it going.

:wave2: Dropping in to remind everyone the discussion on this thread is regarding the topics and perks posted in the OP by @ckelly14.

Discussion of fully cancelling an onsite room reservation to gain perks is off-topic and has not been allowed within this updated thread.

Thanks!

So here's my scenario...any and all advice/recommendations are much appreciated as my over planning brain easily gets over loaded. :scared:

** I've already purchased tickets via Undercover Tourist and linked them to my MDE account. They are 5 day park hoppers.
** We will be in the parks on 5/27-5/29 and 5/31-6/1 (doing Universal on 5/30)
** Current thinking is to book a campsite for $85.50 for 5/31-6/1 only. We will be in AK on 6/1 and I'd like the option to take advantage of the EMH in Pandora that evening.

Questions: Will using a thowaway room at the end of my trip mess up anything ticket or FP wise for my first 3 days?
Will I still get magic bands even though I'm not buying tickets through Disney?
Can or should I link my magic bands to all 5 days?
Does my thinking sound moronic to anyone?? :confused3

Thanks soooo much in advance (and for not eye rolling :sad2: if I'm asking questions that have super obvious answers ;))

1. 60 days from 5/31, you should be able to book FP's for the entire trip. This is a few days after what you would be able to book if you had a"throwaway" for the earlier part of the trip but you need onsite to take advantage of EMH.
2. Yes, MB's are linked to your onsite reservation, not your tickets, so you will get MB's for all your party.
3. If you book the campsite under the same MDE as your linked UT tickets, this should happen automatically.
4. NO! :smooth:

MagicBands are linked to your MDE account. They will work for all your park days for this trip and for future trips.
