Throw away reservations

I don't book 30 days, but I do book some extra days and peel some off as I need to. I take take an annual trip to FW during the late Jan to early Feb time frame. We have a rough idea of when the grandkids can go so I book, just under a year in advance, a couple of days before and after when we'd like to be at FW.

As we get closer, say two months out, we can firm up our dates and lock in when we can actually be there, so I call and cancel those un-needed days.

I'd really rather book what I need just a little bit in advance instead of a year out, but that's the way the system is. :confused3

Once we had finalized our vacation dates and two months before we were to be there, my son-in-law got called up totally unexpected for military duty in Afghanistan. I tried and tried to move the reserved dates one week earlier to no avail, until I got one reservation specialist that was former military. He went out of his way and made it happen for us, and I am greatful. It turned out to be a great vacation. :thumbsup2

Best Regards!

I actually had to book a ful month in order to get the dates I wanted. As soon as the payment posted on my cc, I called and modified my reservations. Seems kinda stupid to me , but you gotta play the game in order to get what reservations you need.:tinker:

When I called to make my week long reservation the agent asked me if I wanted to book a few more days on either end of the week so that I could be more flexible. It had never occurred to me to do that. I didn't take him up on the offer.
