thrifty rent a car good or bad???

i can remember about 15 yrs ago renting from then, had no problems
how are they now? with the "wmrt" code i can get the little jeep suv for $100
before taxes.

Rented a minivan last trip with Thrifty and it was a positive experience. I've always rented from Alamo, however last trip Thrifty was significantly lower so i went with them. I think most of the on-property rental places at OIA are relatively the same sans pricing.

From what I understand its at the airport, but you must take a shuttle. So its technically not IN the airport. We used Alamo in Maui and it was the same deal. However, with the shuttle and getting the car it was extremely fast. We are trying Thrifty in 6 days. I could not beat the price anywhere else even though my DH is platinum with National. I am paying 257.00 for an 8 passenger van with Thrifty, and with National it was about 1100.00 for our stay! HUGE difference.

We have been renting from Thrifty for the past three years at MCO with no problems whatsoever. We switched to them from National because their prices were so good. You do have to take a shuttle but it is a 5-10 minute ride. I would suggest that you sign up for their Blue Chip program. You can access it from the Thrifty homepage. This gets you into a special line with little or no wait. As with all rental car companies, make sure you thoroughly inspect the vehicle before you leave the lot. If you notice any dings, dents, etc., have the attendant note it on your rental agreement.

We rented from Thrifty in Orlando in January and I am using them again next February. I thought it was great - inexpensive and really quick. It is off airport so you'll have to wait for a shuttle. I did find the shuttles from other rental cars coming more frequently than the Thrifty shuttle, however, but not bad. I do agree to sign up with Blue Chip and apply it to your reservation. Then when you get on the shuttle tell the driver you are a Blue Chip member and he'll radio in that you are on your way. The Blue Chip counter is on the right as you enter. It'll be the one without the line I was in and out of the actual rental counter in less than 5 minutes. Plus, every 15 days of rentals with Blue Chip, you'll receive a free day. AND...when you sign up with Blue Chip, they'll send you a 10% discount coupon when you receive your actual card.

I definitely recommend them.

I used Thirfty YEARS ago and was pleased.

That's also who I am renting a car from locally and driving 3 north to WDW. I got a economy (don't need more than that for that drive) from Sept. 15 to the 24th for $199.00 after all taxes and fees, etc. That was $10.00 cheaper than I booked 2 weeks ago from them, so I am also going to be checking back from time to time.

I have had very good experiences with thrifty - great rates, quick shuttle and quick return. Join Bluechip and the rental process is very easy. Nothing but goo dthings to say about them.

Thanks for the info! I just signed up with Blue Chip today. I was looking at their rates for next July and they are very good compared to everyone else. I think I will wait and watch the rates, and then use my 10% coupon.
If the rates go lower again after I have used the coupon, can it be adjusted again still using the coupon?
