Thrifty rates are down

I just looked at my Thrifty reservation and it went down $60.00! with no code.
I rented with Thrifty because they are the only car company with a reasonable rental rate for a regular size van (not mini). It hold 8 people AND all our luggage.
Weekly rate was $215.99 base ($266.00 all in) for June!

Wow that's a great rate for an 8 pass van. I am trying to decide between a mini van and a 8 pass van.I got a $330 rate (incl tax) from Dollar. The problem with Thrifty for me is that it's offsite and since we will be arriving after 11:00pm with 3 young kids, we really want to rent at the airport.

Interesting because I dont even see that Dollar has 8 pax full size econoline vans.
Did you call them direct?
I wouldn't mind reserving one and then seeing if the rate goes down close to Thrifty rates.

I rented from Thrifty last week which turns out to be off-site. On the way back to the airport the shuttle driver tells me that Thrifty and Dollar are the same company and I could have returned my car at Dollar at the airport no problem. I'd check this out when you pick up your Thrifty car but if it is true it will save you some time on the return (when we are always running late!)

Yes I did call them direct and they told me that they do not show them on their website. Your idea is a good one except in order to rent an 8 pass van from Dollar you need to give them a credit card and then you only have 72 hours to cancel or you will be charge a cancellation fee. (I think I was told the fee would be equal to one day rental charge)
