Apologies if this has been covered...my search isn't working so well

Is there anyone who's rented from Thrifty in Orlando that can comment on their experience. The rates are really good compared to other companies I've used. How is the shuttle? Is the facility far from the airport? Effeciency with getting car? Return? Anything else you'd like to add is much appreciated!! Thank you.

when it was just hubby and me. Shuttle took about 5-10 min, brought you right there. We went in and gave them our conf#, then went and got our car, drop off was very fast and concenient. We had no problems and so far that's who were with this time as well. Good luck!!

Thanks for the information. I'm glad you had a positive experience! I'm hoping for the same!

We used them for our 2004 trip and the experience was good. They are about four miles from the airport and the shuttle took about 10 minutes. I would recommed joining their Blue Chip program. It's an express check in, it's free to join, and it will save you time if there are lines at the counter.

I would use them again if their price is the best

Well, I must say thrifty' shuttle, and rates were excellent in Oct 2005. They were speedy in getting us the car. The worker, was less than enthuised. when renting to us. But, hey. I chalked it up to someone having a bad day We all have those. Ok, we finally got our van. I remembered to take pics of the outside of the van. Thank God. Because when we came to drop the van off they stated we had damaged the van. The front bumper. Well after we told the check in man we didnt. He said ok, just sign this paper that you didnt do it. Well 3 months later, we got a letter stating we need to pay 358 dollars, to start the repair on the van. And any other fees, that will be needed for completion of repair we will recieve, the bill for. Well, i called and told them i didnt do the damage. I got several maybe 8 calls stating I did the damage, and they will take further action if I did not pay. And sign a paper stating I am responsible for said damages. Well, I got really tired, and found the pictures i had taken of the van. Well low and behold the same damages that we supposedly caused to thier van was there in color on my pictures, in thier lot. Next time the lady called to threaten. I told her i have proof. I have pictures. Needless to say I never heard another word, from thrifty. I told you this long drawn out story to say. I would never rent from them again. If I had no choice. I would make sure. I would take extensive pictures of the rental before I left the lot. But, then again. Now, I will take pics of all of my rentals!! :thumbsup2

Blue chip. Join. You get the royal treatment <skip the line> sign and drive.
Always check your rate for a price drop. Always check mousesavers.com for contract # and discount codes. WMRT and SAMS are two that always work.
My 8 day rental went from $170 to $125. I have converted my brother as well. This year he is dancing over the rate he got and last year his blue chip experience prompted him to call me and thank me over and over on his way to disney. He was a die hard 'on airport' rental guy. Now he tells all his friends - go thrifty.

I have rented from MCO thrifty 5 times.

Don't worry about Thrifty.... I've used them four times at the MCO airport location and never had a problem. I'm using them again in 5 days....YAHOO.

The Shuttle is quick and convenient.

Don't worry and enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!

I have rented from Thrifty a couple of times and gotten great rates and pretty good cars. Service was about the same as any of the other agencies.

The facility is close by the airport and not difficult to find when you return the car. The shuttle bus wait is usually only about 10-15 minutes, and the ride itself was only about 5 minutes.

Here's a Google map showing the facility and it's relationship to the airport and the Bee Line.

Hi everybody!

I have a quick question about this also. (Mari is my sister and we are travelling together with out 3 kids and Mom so this is not really a thread hijack).

Do you all think it will be a good idea for her to go get the shuttle and pick up the car while Mom and me take the kids. We will go to the bathroom and on to baggage claim to get the luggage while she is on the road. That way she can just come back to the airport and pick us up. I figured this would save a ton of time instead of all of us going to baggage claim and then all of us on the shuttle. What do you all think. Is it possible?

Thanks a bunch

It's certainly possible, but your time going to the Thrifty facility, renting the car, and driving back could be as much as 30 minutes, not to mention the difficulty in finding each other when you arrive. With 3 kids and all your luggage, this is a good plan, but you should make certain that you have cell phones with you and figure out a meeting place before Mari goes to get the car.

You won't save any time - in fact it will take longer this way - but you will save all the hassles of getting your luggage aboard the Thrifty bus and off again when you get to the Thrifty facility.

Saving the hassle of getting kids on and off the shuttle with the luggage was our main thought, really. We figured it might save us just a bit on time since getting our three kids from the gate to the baggage claim can take a while with the bathroom and drink stop factored in and then waiting for the luggage to come to the carousel. Being from Philadelphia and flying to/from PHL all the time I'm inclined to figure an hour for baggage claim. I know MCO is much better.

Anyway, thanks all for your thoughts. I really appreciate it. I am going to book the Thrifty mini van and seriously consider taking photos of the car when I pick it up (which I've never done when renting before, but it sounds like a good idea).

Depending on when you are going, My suggestion would be to use Dollar rent a car. We used the following code on the website this morning and got a mini-van for only about $20 more than thrifty wanted and this way you do not have to leave the airport and get your car since they are located on site. :cool1: :thumbsup2

enter the following code on the Dollar website ;
LCWM for a convertible, SUV, or minivan at $32.99/day or $169.99/wk when booking online with Dollar. A limited number of vehicles are available at this promotional rate. Advance reservation is required. Only valid at participating locations in Florida, California, Arizona & Nevada. Blackout dates may apply. Code is valid for rentals between 8/27/06-9/30/06.

This code is only good through 9/30/06 but there others located on Mousesavers.com that can help you as well.

We did last year and are going next week and have Thrifty again. They are just so much cheaper. Bus ride is short and easy to get back to the airport when you return. Leave fifteen minutes to drop off car and shuttle to the airport. They try hard to sell you insurance but your own car insurance covers you and many credit cards give you supplemental insurance when you charge your rental. I just said no, the girl looked irritated, they probably get some sort of bonus every time they sell insurance, but she didn't ask again. Car was great and large for a midsize from my experience with other places. I also went on their website and joined the rental program. Gets you a special line when you arrive. They were fine, and again, we saved a lot over the airport rentals.
