Thrift Store Challenge

Hi everybody !! I wanted to share my video with you all since we're all about saving money, right? On my YouTube channel, I created a $10 Thrift Store Outfit Challenge collab with a number of other ladies to see if we could go to the thrift store, and create a complete outfit for under $10!! I found 3 items, retailing at $122... and I got them for $7 total!!! Here's my video if you're interested! Happy thrifting!

OK thanks for sharing...this is kinda something I think most of us do in our everyday lives to save money. (at least I do anyways) In our Goodwill the first and 3rd Mondays they have .99 certain color tagged clothing sale that can score you some really good deals.

I wish we had a good consignment shop here. There is a church thrift shop but I have not had clothing luck. But I'm still searching!

Not a fan of wearing used clothes. Jeans and a tank is not really my idea of an outfit. If I had to dress like that to afford disney I probably wouldn't go. But we all have different priorities.

Good grief, what's with all the grumpy people? You are adorable!! That was a cute video and outfit. I have found great stuff at Goodwill in the past and love any kind of bargain hunting.

Wow! I cannot believe the several negative comments. I agree that you are adorable and you did a great job with your outfit! It goes to show that you don't have to spend a bundle to look cute. The three pieces you chose are also very versatile and practical pieces.

Not everyone is 'rich' and dresses to the 'nines' everyday like you must! Also, not wearing used clothing? Do you ever stay in hotels (at Disney, elsewhere?)? You would be sleeping on 'used' sheets and drying with 'used' towels - oh, the horror!!

I, like some others here, have found some great finds in used clothing - there's things like detergent and washers and dryers that do wonders to make clothing like new again!

I miss going to my goodwill. I have to do all of my shopping on-line these days and don't find the bargains that I use to find when I was going to regular stores and used clothing stores. I am not sure how much I actually saved shopping at my goodwill, because I would find so many bargains I would end-up over buying and have more clothes than I could actually wear!!!! You look so cute in your outfit, keep up the bargain shopping!

It's not the cleanliness I am worried about. Clothing forms to your body. It stretches in your curve areas, wears at you knees and elbows, and fabric starts to loose its elasticity after awhile. Used clothing doesn't look good on most people.

Honestly, this thread just felt like a spam -y way to get people two view her you tube channel. It wasn't a how to, no real tips were offered. It was just "hey, look at me, I went to goodwill and bought some goodwill looking stuff for goodwill prices".

While it's always good to save money (I am an avid Goodwill shopper...my 21 year old daughter and I love hitting up the Goodwills in our area, but we stick to buying barely barely worn, designer label clothes), I have to agree with the poster above who said it was just a way to get people to view her YouTube channel. That outfit retailed for $122? No one would pay $122 for that outfit unless they were one of the few people in the world who went to Kohl's and paid full price! The trick to getting the most out of thrift store shopping is to choose stores near high-end neighborhoods, and visit often to find great deals. My daughter found a brand new, tags still attached Michael Kors trenchcoat with a MSRP of over $300 for $15 at the Goodwill near our house. And I found a like-new Gore-Tex jacket that was selling for $179 online for $8. THAT is my idea of a good bargain.

Who would want to buy used clothing that was so worn that it was 'formed' and stretched out to fit the former wearer?? Everything I buy is in like new (some 'are' new) condition and nobody knows it is used, so what do you mean it doesn't look good on most people? I've saved tons of money on name brand used clothing that even 'you' could not tell I didn't purchase them new.

Besides after wearing even new clothing a few times, they will be 'used'. But, no problems, to each their own - it's strictly a personal decision. I happen to enjoy the excitement of finding a good 'find'!! And, I actually have nothing against buying new when I can find what I want!

I don't see that outfit as costing $122 at any store! However, to get the outfit for $7 is a great deal!

I go to thrift stores often. I occasionally come up with a great find. I went to Goodwill and got my daughter a couple of pairs of almost brand-new Guess jeans for a steal. They could have been brand new for all I know. They were in perfect condition --- not a stretch or fade or wear anywhere on them and they looked brand new. I got myself a pair of brand new Baby Phat jeans for $7. I also got my daughter a nice (real) leather jacket at Goodwill for $4.

I don't see anything wrong with purchasing clothing at thrift stores. So long as it's not funky-smelling or dirty or worn out, what's the problem?

For those of you who would "never"..... I wonder if you sleep in a hotel while on vacation? Or eat at restaurants? Or use public rest rooms? Or use public trans (including planes)? Guess what, each one of them is used by THOUSANDS of people before you. And do you REALLY think the hotel washes each blanket and comforter and pillows EACH time a guest leaves? (they don't --- if they wash them once a year, it's a lot)

I think op should call her post thrift store challenge instead of the title now. She got $7 worth of clothes for $7 dollars. You can't compare retail prices vs used clothing. I thought she had found a great deal somewhere with the title of the post.

I know also that many stores, including Target, donate brand-new items to Goodwill. When my daughter was little, I got her a brand-new Hello Kitty blanket, a brand-new Hello Kitty trench/rain coat, and some other brand new items that Target had donated.
