Three years of Free Dining - no wonder I'm Pooh sized!

Starring Rolls
Everyone else has been eating breakfast in the room every day but I can't make myself eat first thing in the morning. We had a left over counter service and I was hungry so we stopped in Starring Rolls to split a credit. We had an apple, croissant, chocolate milk and water for 1 counter service. Snack credit of a large cinnamon roll. It was all good, nothing special though. Guessing $9.00 and a snack credit

France Bakery
We rode a boat from DHS and France was the closest place to grab some lunch. DD had the turkey sandwich, soda and cake of the day (chocolate). DS had the ham and cheese croissant, soda and chocolate éclair. DH had the turkey sandwich, soda and cream horn. I had the cheese plate, soda and almond pastry. The turkey sandwich seemed really plain to me. DS liked his ham and cheese croissant but he hated the cream inside the éclair and refused to eat it. I wasn’t impressed with the cheese plate, the brie was the only cheese I liked. The almond pastry was good but I wasn’t very hungry. $46.92 or 4 counter service credits

Coral Reef
DD had the lobster soup, grilled chicken, strawberry freeze for a drink and a kids’ sundae. Oh how I doth love that lobster soup! I guess I should have just ordered one for me but $8 for a cup of soup seems silly to me so I just made DD share LOL. The chicken was pretty dry and DD just picked at it.

DS had the adult meal with a strawberry freeze, salmon and chocolate wave (with cherries on the side for Dad). The salmon was really good. DS was mad I wouldn’t let him have the brandied cherries because after all I had already let him have alcohol remember (he said loudly for everyone to hear). I like the chocolate wave, I just wish it was served with some ice cream, it just seems to need a little something.

DH had the seafood linguine, tea and Baileys and Jack Daniels mousse. He loved the linguine!

I had the NY steak, tea and Baileys and Jack Daniels mousse. While the steak wasn’t as good as Le Cellier it was definitely better than the GFC. I really wanted to see a bigger seafood menu here but I don’t like their Mahi Mahi and I can get salmon at home. Of course I can get a steak too but it seemed the best choice. I love the Baileys and Jack Daniels mousse! And I hate any kind of custard or pudding, but the flavor is great.

Turtle soup was not on the menu but this guy kept hanging out watching people eat, I think he wanted some dessert

We love the atmosphere here, great service and the food was good so we would definitely do it again. $133.65 or 4 table service credits

Our last day :sad1:

We went to the MK for half the day then back to the resort for a late check-out and then to eat while we waited for the ME bus.

Sassagoula
DD had another cheese pizza, apple juice, chocolate cake. (There’s that darn cake again!) DS had the pepperoni pizza, PowerAde and beignets. What a good boy to order a dessert he could share with me! DH had a PowerAde, chicken wrap, and shake. I had the Philly cheesesteak, soda and Mickey ice cream bar. Again there isn’t much to choose from but we had to be out of our room and Magical Express was picking us up so this was a way to spend the time between check out and getting picked up. $53.14 or the last 4 credits

To wrap up: We still love free dining! Tips cost us a fortune but we had figured how much we would have had to tip last year and knew about what we'd be spending this year. We never felt any pressure to tip and I think only a couple of servers even mentioned it. Desserts at the counter services are limited and that chocolate cake is just gross. Desserts at the table service restaurants are to die for! I did feel like many of menus were more limited this year, I wish there were more choices. Disney could really do some sprucing up the kids menus to offer more variety at the table services. And they should offer more cheese sauce at the counter services LOL. Plan on at least one hour for all table services but it’s usually more like 90 minutes and that’s without ordering an appetizer.

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

great review--we had ressies for Narcoosees and then cancelled:( now i wish i would have kept them-- everything looks delicious!!

Pinocchios Haus
Another fun day at the MK! The kids like eating here because they spend the whole time waving at the IASW riders and I liked the Figaro Fries. DS had pepperoni pizza, soda and chocolate cake. DH had the chicken nuggets and fries, soda and strawberry cheesecake. DD had cheese pizza, lemonade, and strawberry yogurt. I had the Caesar chicken salad, iced tea, strawberry cheesecake and a snack credit of fake Figaro fries. The pizza was OK I guess and I thought that the cheesecake was icky but DD ate mine. The salad was just OK, I should have just stuck with the fries. I poured the ranch on myself and missed the tomatoes, the bacon had a really strong flavor.

We won’t eat there again. Unless the kids really want to sit and wave at IASW riders and then we’ll have to stick with a fake Figaro snack and eat a meal somewhere else. $58.66 and a snack

Narcoossee’s
This is our third trip to Narcoossee's and it's always been great. DS had the kid’s fruit cup, baked fish, and a brownie sundae. That fruit was so fresh and delicious! I wanted a cup too.

The fish was a tad overdone and pretty plain I thought. DD had the whole lobster and kids’ smores.

DH and I shared calamari and a raspberry mojito.

667849-2_narc_1_mojito-med.jpg

The raspberry mojito was incredible and DH said it was a little too good, it went down too easily. Even the raspberries in it were delish and I tried to scoop them out (nice table manners!) The calamari was mostly rings this time, we like the bodies better, they are less chewy.

The bread had a weird twang to it. I know that sounds strange that bread would have a twang but it did and I read another review here that someone else thought it tasted off too. The butter with the Hawaiian sea salt was wonderful, I just wish there was better bread to eat the butter with.

667849-2_narc_4_butter1-med.jpg

DH had the whole lobster and it must have been good, he never offered to share!

667849-2_narc_5_whole_lobster-med.jpg

I had the surf and turf and almond cheesecake. The surf and turf was good but not as good as the last two years, the sauce on the steak was a little off and the lobster wasn’t as sweet. I wouldn’t say I was unhappy with the dish but I was a little disappointed. I asked to switch the potatoes and these mashed potatoes were wonderful.

667849-2_narc_7_surf_turf-med.jpg

DH had creme brulee. Again. He said it was good but too much sugar on top again.

667849-2_narc_8_creme_brulee-med.jpg

I had my all-time favorite dessert here, the almond cheesecake! It tasted the same as last year and oh so good! I thought there was no way I could finish it but I sure did. Absolutely the best desert in the whole World!

$249.89 without the tip or 8 table service credits

Thanks for posting the reviews!

It sounds like you had a ton more disappointments than good surprises--that stinks! I'm hoping that when we go in December, we'll be experiencing more good luck!
