I cried when I read your post. First, I am so happy for you and your family, it is wonderful that Benji is healthy. Modern miracles are performed every day in hospitals! When I read the comment about how your son was not thrilled with the tubes in his privates it brought back one of the most vivid memories of my life. My son was critially injured and in a coma. The doctors said that the next 24 to 48 hours would tell us everything about his chances for recovery. They said he could wake up fine or have lifelong problems depending on how his brain swelled or stopped swelling. He was in the ICU and nurses and doctors were working on him, I was standing over him (he was four years old). I was praying for him to open his eyes, wake up! All of a sudden he opened his eyes and after he focused for a while he looked at me and said "My pe**is hurts". He was complaining about the catheter. I turned to the nurse and said "Those are the most beautiful words I have ever heard". He recovered and is now 13 years old. I will never forget the families we met and prayed with in the ICU. I think of them often, and truly believe that faith and love get us through, even our worst days.
I am thrilled for your son!
