Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Obviously, when the castle turns blue
I eat blueberries every morning. I love them and they also remind me of our trip to Maine. (although they are never as good as the ones we had there, those blueberry muffins, yum!
When the old Animation Building at MGM used to have all those Disney paint jars on display, the blues were my favorite.

Good Wednesday Morning Friends

#1 - SHOESTRINGS - You don’t know grateful you are for them until you break them. I used to carry many new shoestrings with me when I was coaching softball for any of my girls/players that broke one right before a game was going to start. :thumbsup2

#2 - PLASTIC FOOD BAGS - I hate to admit it, but we use a lot of plastic food bags in this house. They aren’t great for the environment, but they are so darn convenient.::yes::

#3 - SHOWER CAPS - I love my shower caps and use them all the time. Actually, I’ll be using one in about 5 minutes 😀

We also use a lot of plastic bags dear Slo. It is now rare to find a plastic grocery bag out here. We mostly use bags for food storage or trash.

Flex straws! They make drinking out of a small plastic cup easier.

The easy to lose bread bag clips. They are a clever invention.

Stickers can brighten up and add faith with a smile so easily to a card or note.

Afternoon all,

1. Microwave - I probably use mine multiple times a day, from warming up a hot drink to heating up a meal. Certainly couldn't live without it!

2. Timers - I have a lot of automated timers, usually for my internal & external lights but also for feeding my cats while I'm out and they're something I don't even think about until they stop working.

3. Blackout curtains - I struggle to sleep with a lot of light so my blackout curtains are an every night essential. I really notice the difference if I stay somewhere that doesn't have them!

Petite clothes - but often in time the selection seems to be for grandma not for young people they really need to change that but I’m always happy if I can find something that’s more for my length and size than regular size clothes because I’m not regular size and I can’t do a shopping in the kids department because it’s just not age-appropriate although it does fit

Narrow shoes - I was grateful to find Narrow shoes actually I’m just grateful to find shoes that fit my silly feet

Batteries I’m very grateful for batteries I really like having candles throughout my house and I’m very grateful for batteries

I’ll say it glue in the mini different options for tape very grateful if I can’t fix it with glue I’ll fix it with tape!!

Rope or string goes with the above mentioned item because sometimes you get a tie together to get the glue to work while you’re fixing something it comes in handy so it’s good to have some roper string around you never know how many times you’re gonna need it very grateful for it

Things functioning as expected - Whether it's parts of your body, your car, an appliance, or something else in your life... you don't realize how good it is for things to be normal and average until they're not. I know it's not the most specific reply, but in post race mode, I notice parts of my body aching that normally go by without any obvious feelings whatsoever. Like last night, I woke up and could feel my Achilles in addition to a sore throat. I could think of a million car and appliance ones, but batteries, tires and hot water heaters are jumping out in my mind.

Nail clippers - You may sense a theme here...my toes take a beating with the mileage I put in. It's already summery here and people are out and about in sandals with nice pedicures (ok, really a year round thing) but for me...I'm just happy if my toenails aren't too angry from the work I'm putting in. A lot of people who do distance work keep theirs cut way back. Sometimes pain or even a nail related blister is the sign that I missed a spot or forgot a toe (it happens). So, having clippers ready when I forget and my body reminds me is a blessing. I honestly never think about them until I need them.

Shampoo - Soaps, in general, remind me of a fellow peer's paper from back in my college days. It was our sophomore year writing class. Everyone was required to take Writing 1 and Writing 2 and the head of the dept picked a general theme for the semester and their group of TAs had to select an angle/sub-topic for their sections to further explore that overall theme. When I took Writing 2, rhetoric was the topic selected by the dept head and my TA picked mythology. Yes, we explored standard mythology but he expanded on that in some really unusual and creative ways. I'll never forget this one girl's presentation on the mythology of soap suds and how there was little to no scientific proof that suds production equated to higher degrees of cleanliness. She targeted advertising like bathroom cleaners with scrubbing bubbles and shampoo and bar soap commercials where actors were shown with tons of bubbles in a heavy lather. She compared it to more clinical cleansers that surgeons often use pre-op that provide minor amounts of bubbles as well as dry cleaning vs. washing machine detergents. I was reminded of this the other night when I was using my new shampoo to wash the race glitter out of my hair. I normally have very little proof that my shampoo gets my hair clean as I don't use a ton of product and I'm not prone to oily/greasy hair. But that day, I had glitter gel and a lack of glitter in the end served as proof that my shampoo worked. The college story factored in because the new shampoo I was using produced far fewer bubbles than my old stuff. So, its effectiveness got me thinking about how we often don't think about the effectiveness of our shampoo or the need (technically, lack of it) for bubbles.
*Side note- never any actual scientific testing on the bubble thing, but still interesting as far as an essay topic.

Morning sandals 🩴 🩴 🩴 🩴

Because of basketball and heavy antique lifting I have damaged my back so I cannot sit down after rolling out of bed and I must stand for an hour... the sandals are thick soles and easy to slip into

Pet hair 🐶 🐶🐶 brushes...

part of my therapy stretching is to groom the 🐕 🐕 🐕...they now have a brush that pushes clean very easy into wads and place them in trees for birds to use

Surface roads

Not to be confused with residential streets. State highway...or freeway
Our surface streets either have the freeway or undeveloped desert to one side...so there is no cross traffic and folks can only access the asphalt from one side...so makes for very easy senior citizens driving. Our foothills complex roads are either the number 1 or 2 reason to live here ( not to be confused with winter visitors).... the other reason unique medical complex offerings

Today's Topic (Thu, 4/30) - 3 things you're grateful for inspired by the above (funny things, things with stars... wherever your thoughts go on this one)

4/30

I'm inspired by our space program and our ability to travel through the stars. I've been to a shuttle launch, toured KSC several times, and DD went to space camp there for two summers (2 week sessions). We have our own telescope and can see the rings on Saturn, for example. We are a "space oriented" family and I am so grateful and excited that the USA has once again seen the value of space exploration.

Hollywood Studios at WDW Although I preferred earlier iterations (more emphasis on movies, productions, more stage shows) I do enjoy a good trip to the Studios. I just wish I understood more about the Star Wars saga (I only saw the very first movie, which turns out over time to become the 4th? movie... 3rd? movie...) because it is a very awe inspiring section of the park; I just wish I could relate to it more.

Pet rabbits. I had a friend who had a pet rabbit. This was a very fun, interactive rabbit and my friend named her pet "Alice Rabbit" after the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Well... then we discovered that Alice was a boy, and his name became "Alice COOPER Rabbit!"
