Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Scheduling is my superpower! I spent 10 years managing the resource room schedule. I had to figure out how to accommodate approximately 30 students for their ELA and/or math curriculum, bringing them to us when they had those subjects during the regular time for their academic classroom, with only 3 of us to do the teaching. I loved doing the schedule juggling; colored pencils were my best friend, so I could "see" a kid's schedule at a glance. This talent comes in handy in LOTS of situations!

Drive. So many of my friends have had to give up driving as we are nearing the ripe old age of 70! I love to drive- it's my stress-reliever- and I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't drive. I've been a little grounded recently due to cataracts, but surgery is scheduled for 12/4 and 12/11, so as soon as I can see clearly, I'll be back on the road at whatever time of day or night the spirit moves me!!

I bend like the willow, or so I've been told. I guess they mean that I just take things as they come and adjust to the situation. I have seen some friends get themselves into bad emotional/physical states due to anxiety/stress, etc. I just keep my feet firmly rooted and my head clear, but adjust to things as they happen; I'm not the person who falls apart in an emergency, who stands stubbornly when it's clear there's an easier pathway.

Evening all,

1. Walking - like Tigger, I go out walking every day whether outside or inside if the weather is poor. This isn't just for health and exercise, but keeping active especially when it involves getting some fresh air really makes me feel good. And I'm grateful that I'm fit enough to be able to walk for decent long periods.

2. Driving - I'll second this with leebee. I enjoy driving (when it doesn't involve getting stuck in traffic) and just grateful for all of the places driving can take me. Even the simple things like doing food shopping and other errands, that'd be so much more difficult without the ability to drive.

3. Organisation - I'm known by my friends and colleagues to be the organised one, and usually the person they rely on to have everything planned and organised for trips or nights out, right down to timings, route planning etc. I usually struggle letting other people organise things!

Good Tuesday Morning

#1 - MOST OF MY COLD WEATHER OUTFITS - I’m one of those people that’s cold all the time, so I’m grateful that I have layering type clothes, like turtlenecks, cardigans and etc. There are times I wear a tank top, turtleneck and a cardigan, and I’m still cold 🙄

#2 - MY MOM’S 7 LAYER SALAD - I can’t eat it because of my UC, but when I could eat it, I enjoyed it. I’m grateful that’s she’s always willing to take the time to make it for holidays and get togethers at my house. She’ll be making it next for Christmas Day.

#3 - OUR BEDDING - I’m grateful for the layers of warmth we have on our bed - a top sheet, light down blanket and a comforter. Pretty soon my DH will be adding an electric blanket to his side of the bed (he has a twin size and just keeps it on his side). I used to like electric blankets, but not anymore - I haven’t used one in over 20 years.

From yesterday
I can do math in my head
I can still learn how to do things
I’m really good at cooking
I find creative ways to overcome my daily challenges limitations
I’m an extremely organized person

Layers
That would have to be my clothing dress like it’s going to be a blizzard almost every day even during the summer and then I sit with a blanket and a winter coat on in my house because I’m always so dang cold
🥶 ❄️🥶❄️

Seven layer salad absolutely delicious

Layered cakes - I love layered cakes all the different little layers and what’s in between them yummy 😋

Layered cakes and desserts- I keep picturing some kind of decadent layered entremet in my mind.

Moussaka - my mind first went to lasagna but I don’t love lasagna. Then I remembered that moussaka is layered and I love moussaka!

7 layer dip - rare that I eat it these days because of the cheese but it is yummy.
