Having been a substitute teacher for many years, I was really grateful to all the regular teachers who included us and made us feel like a vital part of the team! I was lucky to work in schools where this was the norm, as I know it's not true everywhere.

Grateful for all my math teachers in junior high and high school, because they made me feel so confident in my abilities and taught us to treat math as a game, not a struggle.

Grateful for "out of the box" teachers who didn't feel limited by their subjects - like the English teacher who had the big pull-down maps in her room and made us find the settings of all the books we read!

1. My first-grade teacher Miss Pike. That was in 1951. I can still see her sweet smile. She was so kind.
2. Mrs. Hope Foor -- my high school English teacher. I love all aspects of English because of her.
3. My high school Home Ec teacher. I don't remember her name, but she taught us the basics of cooking, setting a table, sewing, etc., and also taught us manners. I think of her every time I set a holiday table.
4. I would also like to mention my two daughters who are teachers. Their dedication and love for their students humbles me every day.

Happy Friday Friends

#1 - MY HS BAND TEACHER/DIRECTOR - He was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. He was a no nonsense guy and you were nervous your first year with him. He ran that class and marching band like the military and demanded discipline. There’s no way he could get away with how he was today and you know what….no kids complained and no parents complained. Today, parents would be going to the school board complaining he wasn’t gentle enough and was to harsh 🙄 I’m so glad I grew up when I grew up.

#2 - DD27’s HS CHOIR TEACHER/DIRECTOR - She really brought out the best in my DD’s singing voice which is absolutely beautiful. She even got her to have voice lessons with a retired Broadway performer, which was by invitation only.

#3 - DD22’s CURRENT ANATOMY PROFESSOR - She’s young and teaches anatomy in a way that keeps the students really engaged. This is at a doctorate level, so this class is at the highest level. This teacher is inspiring my DD to be a professor along with working in a hospital after she graduates in 2 1/2 years. She wants to teach future doctors in a way that will really help them learn anatomy, which can be very challenging when you need to know every single little thing inside the body.
