Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Colleen McCullough..
Author of Thorn Birds.... I think the best novel written for popular culture in the previous decades up to Amy Tan books..33 million copies though a number skewered by today readership and the novel was handed from friend to friends... which puts Margaret Mitchell in a different perspective.... Gone with the Wind and Thorn Birds were the two most common found books in estate sales.I conduct ed... but again would I rember any other authors...as the Two books were on display at the sales check out area to engage conversation

Peggy...who drove out to the ranch to pick us up for the Sunday school...who made sure we went to summer church camp...who took our youth group to Indio California for a spring break mission work with migrant labores...who gave my last trip to Disneyland in 1969
If I only had one person to meet from my past...it would be her and to ask.... how did you know that my sisters and I would change the world?

All of the ladies I routinely see on my various morning walk routes - I don't really know any of these women but we always greet each other in some friendly manner, we take notice when something changes (like use of a weighted vest), we may take a moment to remark about the positive turn in the weather, etc. It may seem silly to be grateful for such minor interactions with people I really don't know, but I feel like we're each other's cheerleaders.
Not silly at all! Those kinds of little interactions are more important than we tend to give them credit for. (I think there's even a specific name for them, but I can't remember it at the moment.)

TGIF Everyone :dance3:

#1 - ENERGY - I’m always grateful for energy. I have a few autoimmune disorders that want to suck energy out of me, but I try very hard to not let that happen. Some days I have more energy than others, and I’m always grateful for those days.

#2 - ETERNAL LIFE - I’m not wanting to get to heaven any time soon, but I’m grateful to know that hopefully, when I die, I will go to my eternal reward and have eternal life in heaven with those I love(d) here on earth (which is another e word 🙂)

#3 - EMOJIS - I’m always grateful for them and use them all the time. Here’s some of my recent ones….❤️🎃⬇️🥳🎉🍾🥂🙂💙😘✨🥎🤗🏰

Going to try and be creative today...

ESCAPE (escapay)- no, not actual escape but the quote from Finding Nemo when Dory mispronounces the word. It's one of those that's stayed with me and I tend to intentionally mispronounce it when I see it or need to use the word. It's just a little funny thing that always makes me laugh. Escapay!

Elvis - I have fairly eclectic taste in music (even though I'm not a huge fan of country). I was just thinking this morning about Vegas, iconic performers, how we treated everyone to Wayne Newton back when we got married, and how I would have loved to see Elvis. He had such a beautiful and distinctive voice. The box set I had of his music even had some of his gospel style recordings.

Etch A Sketch - In the days before phones and game boys, this was one of my go-to's for road trip entertainment. I remember "drawing" with mine for what often seemed like hours. Sure, the later released Magna Doodle was a bit better for drawing, but nothing like the classic.

The lady I used to babysit for when I was a teenager and was such a blessing to me so helpful even thou she was going through a divorce at the time she was amazing to me at a time I really needed someone

A coworker I had when I was younger she was in her 60s and she was such a treasure to me such a dear friend ❤️🙏❤️❤️

My girlfriends who stood by me through my divorce who listened to me every day / night and day all the time and never complained and supported me and lifted me up and stood by me !! ❤️❤️

On to the letter E

Envelopes- I seem to have a small obsession with them I like envelopes all different sizes I don’t know why but I seem to have an obsession with them

Evening all,

I'm going food based today as I've spent the entire day in the office talking about food and wanting to eat things I shouldn't.

1. Eggs - an incredibly versatile ingredient that can make anything from a savoury carbonara to a sweet, tasty dessert.

2. Egg custards - related to the above, these are a sweet treat that were one of my favourites as a child and super easy to make now. I wish I could eat them more often!

3. Easter eggs - strangely I have very fond memories of Easter eggs as a child including Mini eggs and Creme egg, and I'm sad I don't get to eat as many as an adult.

It really wasnt my intention to make this fully egg based

I second Eyesite and energy. They really enhance quality of life.
Extra- as in abundance and overflow - that can be shared with others.
My "E" family- so thankful for DH!

Another vote for Eggs - we eat a lot of them in our house!

Life-Long Education

E~~~ (DH's grandmother)
- she's no longer with us, but I knew her for quite a few years, and I'm grateful that DS got to know her when he was little as well.

EVEREST....and Kon tiki...1960s books/adventure that catapulted elementary school children...well at least 9 years old Citrus and a 7 and 5 years old sisters... every Christmas break we ventured to one peak of four that surrounded our ranch... to see what was on the other side

ERIC RYBACK
Wrote a book about the Pacific Crest trail...when I was 16 read the book...9 years later 🥾 🥾 🥾 hiked the Oregon portion.... to see what was on top of Oregon between the volcanos 🌋 🌋 🌋 doting the crest

EEYORE sign

As I worked this morning to build my ENERGY for 4 hours to prepare for the summer ahead I tumbled the letter E...E...E...it dawned on me that historically I am part of the last generation to visit Disneyland on alphabet tickets...I have become the older ELDERLY who before me always told me how good I have it and now I tell Disneyland visitors how good they have it and they should pay homage to the EEYORE sign and it's yore
