Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF!

For Yesterday…..I’m grateful for every great find and bargain at Goodwill and Thrift Stores.

For Today……

#1 - Gain Laundry Detergent and Dryer Sheets - I love the original scent and how it makes my clean laundry smell.

#2 - Bonfires - One of my favorite smells in the Fall.

#3 - Main Street, WDW - Gotta love the smell of The Confectionery when you walk by.

#4 Bonus - Pirates of the Caribbean - One of my favorite rides and the smell inside is very distinct - love it!

Perfume ❤️❤️❤️

Disney Hotels ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Coffee

Flowers 🌼

Grass

I’ve been blessed with a super sense of smell - I can smell stuff better than most people always have I’m horrible eyesight often times I can’t hear stuff but I can smell stuff coming in a mile away and sometimes that works out really well and other times it’s not so nice but I am very grateful that I can smell things because I would hate to go through life unable to smell

1. Treats made from scratch baking in the oven- bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies!

2. Coffee- love to smell it brewing, reminds me of my grandma.

3. Fresh country air- the corn in tassel, honey suckle blooming, fresh cut grass,

4 Maple Popcorn at the Canadian cart in EPCOT! Can't wait to get my bucket filled again!

1. Baking - agree with WLWildlife on this, the smell of anything baking in the oven whether sweet or savoury. One of the many reasons why I love baking.

2. Festive scents - I love the smell of festive scents that you get at Christmas time, like gingerbread or mulled wine, cinnamon etc. I have so many festive scented candles and they're not just for Christmas either. I've had a gingerbread air freshener in my car for months!

3. Disney - rather than specific rides, food or areas, I love the Disney scents in general no matter where they are. They're so distinctive and memorable and going back after so many years, they don't change and there's something really comforting about that.

Petrichor.... that is the fancy word for the smell after fresh rain
Soil bacteria.. plant oil are part of the ingredients of the wonderful concoction we all inhale

This Tree is example of the oldest plant on earth..12,000 years old
Creoste tree... greasewood.... chaparral...or in Mexico hediondilla
When it rains the fragrance lasts for hours and folks will intentionally walk the desert for the fragrance

Most fragrance will disappear because of the brain and nose function... not this tree... you can stick your nose to a citrus bloom... better than lilac fragrance....and the smell disappear

Ok.. now for culture studies... guess what this is IMG_20250718_064631155.jpg

This is not a dog park..
Not a soccer ⚽ ⚽ field... NOTHING FUN ABOUT THIS

It is a flashflood catch basin to collect water off the subdivision street..... and it is green... because full of stickers grass and stickers Vine that stick to shoes and probably ticks...so not a venue of any sort for pleasure

So many smells to choose from. It is my strongest sense.

Cinnamon
Garlic and olive oil
Vicks (I know that’s a weird one, but I find it very comforting)
So as a child did your folks use as a form of medicine...may not be as weird as you think ...my siblings and I recall as being one of the rare occasions our mother would touch us with the Vicks rub and the smell 💘 💘

I’m sure it has to do with childhood. My mom was not affectionate, ever. The weird thing was watching her with my daughter when she was born. She transformed into a very affectionate grandma.

Good Saturday Morning!

#1 - Apple Watch - I love love love my Apple Watch. I never ever wear a different watch since my mom gave me this watch for my birthday in 2019.

#2 - iPhone - I can’t imagine life without it now. It’s amazing we all lived once without computers in our hands all the time.

#3 - Hybrid Cars - I’m so in love with my hybrid. I’m getting 41 miles per gallon and my car is still on full after I bought gas 9 days ago - it’s awesome!

Morning, or Afternoon (for me)

My 3 things are going to be incredibly similar to Slo's:

1. Samsung Galaxy Fit - my current smart watch/fitness tracker, isn't quite as high tech as the full on watches but does all the basics I need when it comes to fitness tracking, notifications and alarms. And more importantly, the battery lasts weeks rather than hours.

2. Samsung Phones - I do feel over reliant on this at times but you cant argue with what these phones can do and how easy it makes life.

3. Electric Cars - I wasnt sold on these originally and there still needs to be a lot of work done on charging infrastructure and range, but I've had mine for nearly a year and I can certainly see the benefits! I've saved so much money on charging it versus filling up with fuel.

Internet 🛜 - & iPhones - I like both because you can learn so much information so easily and I can talk to and needs so many people I have friends now in the United Kingdom and I can talk to them every day and if it was not for the Internet I would not be able to do that and I do it on my iPhone I do so much stuff on my iPhone

Microwave- I absolutely love my microwave no longer having to heat up things on the stove or use the oven you can have something heated up in like 30 seconds cause I’m old enough to remember what it was like before we had a microwave

Coffee makers - I’m also old enough that I remember making coffee with a percolator on the stove don’t get me wrong it was good coffee but it’s so much nicer making it with a coffee maker they have timers now and coffee pods it’s just so much nicer and so much quicker and so much easier to make coffee these days then it was when I was a kid

Good morning

I am very blessed that my new Galaxy phone is working so well. It makes keeping in touch with my dad so convenient and also gives me the early morning cheer of checking in here among many other things.

Delivery services are an amazing blessing that sure is handy.

Online worship especially along with Hallmark movies are great to watch on my Kindle.

I struggle with this one because I see the negative impact that results from our modern technological advanced society daily and it saddens me. There are so many ways it can and does have positive impacts, but I feel like the negative overpower it. In many ways I embrace old school ways. Anyways...
1. Medical advancement that saves lives and improves quality of life for so many people.
2. My cell phone so I can stay in touch with family near and far and keep them close to my heart.
3. Online shopping- because it has allowed me access to products that have improved the quality of life for my loved ones.

An interesting observation
I don't shop Walmart
1. Far away from where I live

2. and nothing is on sale like Kroger

But I was there yesterday for tires and the waiting room is horrible..so went shopping and discovered..

The volume of employees filling on line orders... folks complain about Walmart check out system and how it lowered employees... but it didn't.. those blue pushcart are everywhere and have friendly folks to guide you everywhere..
There were more folks filling orders than old days check out folks

And they texted me when tires were done
