Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I love fried clams, and most other fried seafood as well!

Fried chicken. An embarrassing "secret" in my family is that KFC is our "go-to" emotional food. When my sister-in-law delivered my nephew a month early and things were touch and go, KFC was there. At my mother's wake, KFC was there. Celebrating my sister's new store opening? KFC was there. I know it's crap for you, but for some reason it's a "comfort" food in my family (meaning my sibs and me... DH and DD won't touch it!)

Crab rangoons- although there is no real crab meat to be had in the best of them- but what can you say about cream cheese that's deep fried?

Another vote for kitty purrs and chirps, @clappyclaps - and your cat is so cute!!

I'm with you, @WDWEPCOT, on the TV as background, too. - I don't like most loud chaotic environments, but I don't like total silence either.

And of course the birds from my other post. According to Merlin, I'm hearing these ones right now:

Those 3 pop up all the time in my NoVA area.

Unfortunately, I cannot eat fried foods anymore, but I have very fond memories of:
Fried clams and Friday night combination fried fish platters with lots of tartar sauce. Loved the fried oysters!

French fries of all sorts, with cheese, truffle oil and Parmesan, etc.

Mozzarella sticks dipped in marinara sauce. Loved the ones at Via Napoli

Disney fans, did you know that July 4th is not just an American holiday, but also Alice in Wonderland Day?

(read more here)

So take your gratitude inspiration today from either holiday, or mix it up (examples: red, white, & blue things, things at Alice's tea party, etc.) -

Today's Topic (Fri, 7/4) - 3 things your grateful for that have anything to do Independence Day or Alice in Wonderland

My beloved late grandma was very patriotic.

Memories of a kids church summer camp performance with a patriotic theme.

Right here and now, I am so grateful to my walker (it has red on it) for safely assisting me in rebuilding my strength and endurance. God forever beside me Who has made my recovery possible and His human angels, one in particular, that have step by step accompanied and supported me with love.

What a true blessing to lay my head on a pillow (white case) and to be able to see these keys to type on.

Blue blanket covering me and blue cover of my book.

Happy and safe 4th of July to all! :)

Happy Independence Day Friends to all American DISers ❤️🤍💙

#1 - The Great Men that wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence - If you haven’t watched the series John Adams, definitely do that sometime - it is fantastic and I learned a lot (I was googling certain things as I was watching to see if they matched and most things did). Such a great series and I need to watch it again.

#2 - Memories Of Past 4th of July Parties - We used to host some pretty fun parties, but we got burned out on doing them and now have a quiet holiday with just us.

#3 - Fireworks - I love sitting on my pool deck and watching all the fireworks around me. We used to buy a ton of fireworks when we had our parties, but now I prefer to not spend the money and watch what everyone else spent their money on.

I’m grateful for all the men and women and animals that served our country to keep us safe
I’m grateful for the constitution and all the freedoms and liberties that we have in this country
I’m grateful that we were allowed to freely travel

Happy Independence Day from the UK!

I'd say I'm grateful for Alice in Wonderland in general as it was a childhood favourite, even if some of it gave me disturbing dreams!

The Mad Hatters Tea Party I'm certainly grateful for as it inspires a lot of wonderful and crazy food and drink ideas. There's a lot of fun afternoon tea menus inspired by it over here that are really good and so much fun.

And I did an Alice in Wonderland themed escape room with some work friends recently that was a lot of fun and we did really well and had a great time.

1. Faith
2. Freedom
3. Patriotic music/concerts and specials

Also, I've never read Alice in Wonderland all the way through, but when I was little, I thought it was the coolest. because I thought it had my name in it. I thought it was Allison Wonderland. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was an adult before I actuality saw the title in print and figured it out. Ha! If I wasn't an adult, I was certainly in high school.

My daughter and I watched the movie 1776 several times together.
(We also watched Disney’s Alice in Wonderland several times when she was young)

Also love the musical, Hamilton

Love reading historical fiction and just added My Dear Hamilton to my kindle library.

Happy Saturday Everyone

#1 - The Polynesian Resort - I love the tropical feel of this resort. My DD21 and I are looking forward to staying in the new tower when we return, which we have no idea when that will be with her new grad school schedule.

#2 - Tropical Fruity Cocktails - I love them while sitting by a pool or on a cruise

#3 - These Flowers ⬇️ - I bought these for the first time this year, and they are tropical flowers, so I have to be careful to water them just the right amount. So far, I’m doing pretty good with them. I’ll definitely get this again next year.

Tropical isn't a word that comes up too much living in the UK 😂

1. Tropical patterned clothing - I do love a item of clothing with a tropical print, it just screams out summer and holidays and hot, nice weather. We don't often get the weather to wear this often over here but I live for wearing these on holiday. Just bought a tropical patterned jumpsuit that I'm dying to wear!

2. Pineapples - probably my second favourite fruit after strawberries, and anything pineapple flavoured is always a winner. Just not on pizza!

3. Tropical cocktails - I'll second Slo on this, tropical, fruity cocktails are my favourite type of cocktails especially when relaxing in the nice weather. Somebody bring me a piña colada! 🍹
