Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good morning dear friends and happy July. May this be a bright new month for each of you filled always with good health and joy

Hug, WDWEPCOT. I loved watching reruns of, "On the Road." Steve Hartman hosted the episodes I watched.

Happy July birthday to come dear Leebee with a hug, of course.

July is a sunny month of longer days that feel fresh with the newness of Summer.

Dad and I both got our current cars in July three years apart. His is red and mine is white so patriotic and Christmas colors.

Christmas in July service at church and Hallmark movies.

Happy July Birthday Leebee! 🎂

July for me tends to be a fairly low key, indifferent month where not very much happens.

1. School holidays - I'm not grateful for these because I work in a school, have kids or have holidays booked myself, in fact I'm grateful for these because it means that work gets marginally quieter when everyone else takes time off (my manager included, which means I'm in charge and get less work thrown my way 😂). And because the roads get quieter and I dont get stuck in school traffic coming home from work, effectively halving my journey time.

2. Dad's Birthday - July was only really memorable for me for being the month of my dad's birthday, and sadly he's not been with us for quite a few years now.

I'm actually struggling to find a third thing, it really is a uneventful month for me, and I'm certainly not grateful for the dentist and osteopath appointments i have coming up this month!

As my DGD reminded me yesterday, it’s her birthday month!

I always used to enjoy July when I was teaching and knew I had a whole month to enjoy before school started looming in August!

Lots of baseball games to watch, and the home run derby is always fun

Agreed! There's still the promise of plenty of time to do stuff before it feels like summer is almost over.

Also, the easiest month for the pool - June is opening, blowing up the floats, etc. August tends to be fiddlier with keeping the chemicals in balance. July is the most likely to be just routine stuff.

July 4th because I love fireworks.

Happy H U M P Day Friends

#1 - Fireworks - I know I’m odd for liking the sounds of fireworks this time of year. They sound like summertime and I love it. I don’t like the loud 1/2 sticks that people blow up - that startles me. I never understood the attraction to blowing up dynamite. There’s no color, there’s no nothing - it’s just a boom. Our puppy is already scared out of his skin with the fireworks, so I know it’s going to be a long holiday weekend.

#2 - My Alarm Clock - I’m grateful when I hear that sound because I know I’ve been blessed with living another day. People are always asking for miracles, but they don’t realize that one of the greatest miracles they get is the gift of life every day.

#3 - My DD21’s Ringtone - Not only do I love the ringtone I have for her, but I love even more that she enjoys calling me and FaceTiming me. I have one more month with her home before she returns to where her apartment is to start grad school. The ringtone I have for her is - When Can I See You Again? (from Wreck It Ralph)

Happy sounds...

The Little Guy singing to himself in his bedroom as he waits for it to be "late enough" to get up and go downstairs (that's 7am on school days, 8am on the weekends). He's usually happy as a clam, singing to himself and "playing Legos."

DD's laugh. I love my girl so much and the joy that radiates from her when she laughs fills my heart!

"The Dawn Chorus," in the words of Owl. Birds in the morning mean spring has finally arrived, and the warm seasons are soon to follow. I know that birdsong is mainly for territorial/mating purposes, but I love listening to all the different birds in my yard.

ETA: @PollyannaMom I didn't realize you'd mentioned the birds in your yard when you posted, but before I saw this thread DH and I were commenting on the birdsongs we are hearing!
@slo How is it possible that Katie is off to grad school already? Time flies...

Three July
It’s officially summer although it’s hot and I do mean hot hot I still enjoy it more than I do in the winter 🥶 because you know we have air conditioning and you can say well you have heating yes that is correct but I can’t get away from ice and snow but I can’t get out of the heat so I’ll take summer

It’s sunny when I get up and it’s still sunny well past 8 o’clock at night often time there’s a breeze at night and it’s nice to sit outside if you can stand the bugs

Work seems a little bit more laid-back during the summer with so many people on vacation things are a little bit easier going

Three Sounds

The sounds of nature - birds / animals in my yard whether that be a squirrel or deer I do enjoy listening to the animals while I’m sitting outside or hear the bad while they’re flying around at dusk

Kids playing - it’s so funny listening to kids playing it’s quite enjoyable the funny thing they say

My TV - 📺 it’s all on I may not be watching it but I’m off and listening to it it could be a TV show it could be the news it could be a documentary it’s my background noise

Amen to kids playing, dear WDWEPCOT. Bonus with a puppy :)

Kids singing in church.

Hearing is a blessing period to me.

Dad's voice most of all along with some closer family and friends.

I am praying to hear an adminstrator say yes today to a care request of mine that will cost this facility nothing yet mean everything to me.

I'm quite sensitive to sounds and I find a lot quite irritating, so there isn't many I'm grateful for!

1. Cat chirps & purrs - I adore those cute little chirps my cat makes when she sees me or when she's out and about. And purrs too are just adorable.

2. Upbeat music when I'm out and about - having an upbeat song come on when I'm out walking or driving in the car really helps lift my spirits and provides a lot of motivation when I'm walking too.

3. Nature - second WDWEPCOT with nature, especially early in the morning when there's no cars and you can hear the sounds of the wildlife.

Today's Topic (Thu, 7/3) - 3 fried foods you're grateful for
(or were in your youth if you don't eat fried foods now)

Ooh I love fried claims !!!

Fish Fry - yummy - I enjoy getting fish at the United Kingdom in Epcot with my fries 🍟 delicious dunking my fish in vinegar yummy

Fried cheese - you can’t come along with cheese it’s delicious

Tacos / burritos / taquitos - enjoy them all the time!!!!

Well today's is making me hungry - never tried fried ravioli or ice cream but they're going on my list!

1. Fish & chips - proper British fish and chips, crispy batter on the fish and chips that are fried, soft but not overly oily and greasy. Surprisingly not all British chippys can get this right!

2. Fried chicken - I mean its fried chicken, enough said. Especially any that is Southern fried or got a bit of spice/heat to it.

3. Beignets - I'd never had these until my recent trip to DLR, but I absolutely loved them especislly with the choc dipping sauce. I wish I could have them more often!

🐦🐦‍⬛🐦🐦‍⬛ Inspired by the birds in my yard right now...

Today's Topic (Wed, 7/2) - 3 sounds you're grateful for
1) The nighttime sounds of my backyard out in the country
2) My wife's losing it laugh when something strikes her funny
3) The music played at Disneyland California Adventures Grizzly Peak and Soarn' area. Has that big grand adventures west large national park symphony feel.

I no longer enjoy fried foods. McDonald's fries were sure my favorite when I was younger.

Dad enjoys waffle or seasoned fries every so often.

A memory from childhood of my beloved grandma and I going to a local restaurant where like McDonalds, you order at the counter and then wait for your food. Among other things I had ordered one order of fries. I said, one fry or something like that. I am not, and never have been, a fan of jokes or pranks. Not me. The cashier lady literally handed me ONE french fry trying to get me to smile. She knew grandma and I from previous visits.

The best fried fish taco in North America is in algodonse Mexico..
But expensive..._10.00 to park... once you walk the 4 blocks into Mexico... you need a 10.00 taxi to travel to the commercial core of the city...of course the more folks in your car.. the cheaper the travel expenses... line of 7-10 folks to order directly from the oil vat..
No place to sit so eat them standing up or do as I walk the block to border exit and sit on the massive row of concrete benches

1,000s of winter visitors from all over North America can't be wrong about the 3 🌮 🌮 🌮 and you also when you back in line for take home... BUT... they are only good hot..
Been there done that 😁 🤣 🌞 🌞
