Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Sunday Friends!

When I think of Gummi Bears I think of The Albanese Company that is very close to where I live. I’ve known the family that owns it since 1988 when they were a tiny local candy store,

Their Gummi Bears are the best! You can get the flavors mixed together or just an individual flavor. You go to the store and buy whatever you want by the pound. They also make their own chocolate which is amazing!

Waving good morning!

Gummy bears will always take me back going on ten years ago to a church musical theater camp. One of the songs the kids sang was about gummy bears.

I like the colors of gummy bears because they remind me of God's rainbows.

Grandma didn't (I don't think) eat gummy bears but she sure did enjoy candy especially chocolate. I so loved her! I'm grateful to gummy bears because they are candy bring me a smile and extra thanks to God for my grandma.

Good Monday Morning!

#1 - Water Water Water - Very grateful for this and none of us can live without it. Water is the main thing I drink 90% of the time. The other 10% would be a combination of milk (protein shakes that I make after I work out) and my soda once a week.

#2 - Will Power - I’m grateful that I have a strong willpower. Sometimes it’s hard when I really want something, but I am good at walking away if I feel I don’t need it or just shouldn’t have it.

#3 - Warm Weather - I’m very grateful that we are starting to get warmer weather around here. It was nice being able to work outside yesterday without a sweatshirt or a coat on.

Warm weather 😎😎😎

Wine 🍷 over the years I’ve learned which wines I like and which ones I don’t - I enjoy trying new ones at the Food & Wine Festival at Disney

Water - I like drinking it / I like it in a pool / I love it at the beach 🏖️ but I despise rainy days I could live in a desert how much I hate rainy days !! I find them a bit depressing much prefer the sunshine and y’all know how I feel about ❄️ Which is just frozen rain well close as frozen rain is sleet

First Ladies (yes, I had to do some homework)

Martha Washington - OK, I am grabbing straight from a website, but as the first First Lady, she was also the first to complain about the limitations of her responsibilities. She got the ball rolling in publicly proclaiming she wanted more. Just knowing that she was vocal about it gets that ball rolling. Even First Lady #2 (Abigail Adams) stressed that her husband remember the ladies and to not put such unlimited power in the hands of the husbands...noting that all men would be tyrants if they could.

Mamie Eisenhower - I visited a Denver area library a few years ago that's dedicated in her honor, which also had quite a few interesting artifacts from her collection. I appreciated her style and interests in fashion, but also her push for bipartisanship in her political influence. She's known to have implored people to vote, even if they didn't vote for her husband.

Betty Ford - She was a vocal figure for equal rights but it's her addiction struggles that really stand out for me. If a First Lady's struggles and strides towards healing and sobriety can be normalized and made public, it can be helpful to the masses silently suffering due to shame.

Gummi/Gummy Bears

All of the other gummy/gummi candies - If it weren't for the humble bear, we wouldn't have all of the other gummies. Personally, the gummy Coke and Dr. Pepper bottles were my faves.

Drunken Gummies - Alcohol soaked gummy bears were often a favorite party treat.

Elevated Gummies - While the example above involves just taking basic ones and soaking them, there is a fine dining restaurant in the UK that offers the coolest gummies I have ever seen as part of their dining experience. They're whiskey bottle gummies and are presented on a map card with each one's origins. So, the chef took things like Glenlivet and Highland Park single malts and created elevated gummies. I doubt these would have ever been a thing if it weren't for the simple bear.

W

Walks - I've gotten to the point where I'm doing no less than a 5k every single day (even on rest days). It helps get my day going... although today involved some weirdo approaching ladies on the green belts. So, I guess I'm also grateful for me safety.

Wyoming - Most of Yellowstone, all of Grand Teton, and Devils Tower are all in Wyoming. It's one of my most favorite states to visit.

Winter - As the northern folks are excited about warming weather, I'm longing for the cooler days of winter when I am not sweating my tail off in the high humidity each time I leave the house.

Walking is a blessing I will never take for granted again! God willing I will be walking normally out the door of this facility very soon!

Wednesdays bring me a smile to think of our friend Winnie the Pooh, another "W."

Wonder and grace by my faith belief that each moment can bring.

Work ... I'm glad to have it. Have had several friends lose their jobs due to layoffs in the last 3 months, and several others quite worried about the situation, so I feel very fortunate to not be impacted yet.

Williamsburg ... I really enjoy the quick vacations we've had here, such a nice area and a lot of variety of things to do.

Wilderness ... it's so good for mental and physical well being to be able to get out and experience nature, I hope we will continue to preserve and protect wilderness areas.
