Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Dad's

1&2 - Dad and his Dad. Both amazing, kind hearted, giving, handy, help your neighbor men. I hit the jackpot. I still cry when I think of my grandfather.

3&4 - DH and DBIL - they love us so much. They are both task oriented and use service to show their love to us and their families.

Extra grateful today for God, my Heavenly Father.

Dad, a gift from God indeed also to me along with His steadfast Mercy, Presence, and Love with us both always.

Grandpa Sam, my first witness to Christ as right now in Heaven he sings extra praise unto the Lord as he also looks over, along with Grandma Dolores and Champ, Dad and I.

3 dads you're grateful for - TV dads, friend's dads, grandpas...
1. My dad. I'm so thankful for his love and support. And, this may sound odd, but I'm glad my dad didn't have to live through COVID. When he passed, he was already having delusions, and I don't really want to think about where COVID would have led those delusional thoughts. I'm glad he's in heaven now.
2. Grandpa. Not my biological grandpa, but a man from my church who worked with the youth and we all just called him Grandpa. I got to share memories of him at his funeral a few years ago, and was surprised that some didn't know he was "Grandpa" to a few hundred kids (over many years) at my church. Sundays were never complete without a Grandpa hug, and I still miss his weekly hugs.
3. My brother. I don't get to see him and my niece much, but I love watching him with my niece.

Dad was patient and encouraging.
Dzadzie (maternal grandfather) had a way about him. Both my sister and I thought we were his favorite! He gave us what we needed to do our best for him.
Uncle Al was not a father, but he influenced my life tremendously. He would send me on errands, taught me to ride a two wheeler.

I thank God for His love and for giving me these important men in my life.🙏

1. Grateful for my dad - he passed 19 years ago now and I still think about him every day. He was a quietly great man. I wish my kids would have had him in their lives longer.

2. Grateful for DH - he's a great dad to our kids. It's funny that in many ways he is the opposite of how my dad was, but they got along great and both of their ways lead to great parenting!

3. Grateful for the "uncles" in my life. With my parent's friend group, we called all of the adults aunts and uncles even through they weren't blood relatives. We had so many great memories with them over the years

We did that too! It was kind of an "in between" for manners' sake - Mr. & Mrs. So-and-so was too formal, but just first names was too informal.

DH does have today off (biotech) and DS doesn't (retail) but happens to work a later shift, so I'm grateful we all got to sleep in today.

I'm grateful to have been able to raise DS in a diverse area, where he had friends with many different backgrounds to learn from.

I'm grateful I got to see family on both sides yesterday, and we had a great time!

My massage therapist - she’s such a sweet person ❤️ me getting massages is not like y’all going to the spa because of my injury - sometimes they are great ( not often ) mostly I just hope I’m not in a world of pain after - I really should get them monthly but can’t always do that - but I need them to try and keep my muscles from knitting up so bad - no deep tissue for me - too brutal too many deep knots from decades ago

I’m grateful for my friends always - I’m there for them - they are there for me ❤️

Im grateful for my job - it can be a pain at times but I have a lot of freedom and I treasure that and I’m allowed to work from home 4 days a week !! So very blessed

3 Misc

1. Patience - ha ha as if I have any, but trying hard. CT results have still not posted, but grateful I have some distractions.

2. Farm camp this week for DD. She is my animal lover so she was excited. Praying there will be some girls her age. 6th grade girls are hard to find around here!!

3. For my small group of friends throughout the US (and one or two across the pond 😉)

3 Miscellaneous Things:
>Today is finally here. I am having knee replacement surgery on Wednesday, but today is the day I start taking pre-surg meds, washing with antibacterial soap, etc. I have been waiting and waiting and WAITING for this surgery (originally scheduled for 5/16 but surgeon was sick so it was postponed, then scheduled for 5/31 but I had a cold so it was postponed again) so I am glad we are finally on the path to getting it done!

>DH has a new job offer! At his age we weren't sure it they'd come through (he's almost 63) but they did. The top of the salary range is a bit of a pay cut, so when he meets with the department chair he's gonna try and negotiate for more. He's good at this, so I am optimistic. He'll accept the position if they offer him the top range, as his current job is stressful and demands a lot of his "free time" so he's always busy grading at night and on the weekends, in addition to being on campus and teaching full time. Fingers crossed that he is offered more money, but I am so grateful he has this new job offer!

>It's sunny today! We have been having grey skies and drizzle all spring, at least 5 days a week, so I am grateful that the sun is out today!

Good Morning:grouphug:

Extra care and prayers to you Eksmama and Leebee, too! Thinking of you both🌼

Miscellaneous:

Grateful extra to God for having enjoyed a very good night's sleep last night. Prayers I am a brighter and kinder witness today.

Today is my friend Raquel's birthday. She and her husband are dear to me. I know them from church as they both work there. When I worked and volunteered at summer camps, long after everyone else had gone home following an evening event, the two of them plus another close friend stuck around. We all cleaned up and supported each other extra that way. They are so kind and have also always supported and encouraged me. God willing I look forward to feeling comfortable seeing them again at church by next year.

Grateful right now for the simple comfort of this couch and throw blanket.

Thankful always for all of you. Have a great Monday! :)

Three miscellaneous things:

- Kids are in fun camps this week! Feeling like @eksmama001 and hoping they meet nice kids, as we don't know anyone in these.

- Feeling tired today, but grateful today isn't packed with plans. That I have time to rest for a bit and catch up on this thread!

- Grateful for a sunny day!

I never really thought about it, but that's probably why we did too. I remember one time I was playing at a neighbor's house and I called her mom Mrs Jones, she told me to call her by her first name, so I did. When I got home, I was telling my mom something about our day and called the mom by her first name, my mom said you need to call her Mrs. Jones. So, I called her by one name at her house and another name at our house lol

3 misc things:

1. Grateful for having only loose ends to tie up this week before we leave on vacation. Sometimes I feel like there's 100 things to finish before we leave. I do have a board meeting before going, but usually they are pretty low-key, it's just going through the motions.

2. Grateful we got to get together with all the kids yesterday for Father's Day. Always fun to be together.

3. Grateful for being a bargain hunter - the kids tease me about it all of the time, but I enjoy it honestly and love searching for a bargain on something we're going to be buying anyway! We ordered Subway last night and everyone was going to get the SunChips. Instead of ordering the little bags from Subway, I ran into Dollar General (right next door) while the girls went in to pick up the sandwiches - we had more chips (lots still left over) and saved money all at the same time lol!

Bargain hunting is fun, Newski-mom! I was just emailing a friend that I was glad she has a $4 off $4 Walgreens coupon to use. My favorite kind of truly free offer! Dad did get as a Target Circle offer yesterday, $10 off $30 in store which considering how easy it is to spend money on necessities at Target, is almost as good. Check your accounts, Friends, to see if this is also available for you. I hope it is! :)

DD did not have fun. She was overwhelmed by the heat and they wouldn't call me when she asked. She said the kids were nice. Ugh! Hope your kids had a better time 😊
