Three Things...Gratitude Thread

:wave:Good afternoon friends and prayers that each of you did have a Happy Easter,

I was especially grateful in the early 1990's to have graduated high school and had the opportunity to attend university in a small town upstate. I needed at that time a change of scene. Looking back, had I known there were so many GE required classes by all students, I probably would have attended Community College first to have saved money. God worked it all out for me for His purpose and I do have some good memories of those years including also my first apartment.

How beyond blessed dad, Champ, and I were to be perfectly fine after the 1994 Earthquake. I was home on break at the time that scary morning. Grace of God for us all big-time! We were also so thankful that grandma had gone back to Houston a few days before although she always, of course, wished she had been here for and to help us.

Before graduating high school, I very much enjoyed attending a week along retreat for teens sponsored by the Sierra Club.

Good Morning Friends!

#1 - I’m grateful for Chicago style pizza, specifically stuffed pizza - Chicago pizza is the best 🙂👍🏻

#2 - I’m grateful for Filet Mignon at a Chicago styeakhouse - Chicago is known for great steaks.

#3 - I’m grateful for Italian Beef - another thing that is really good from Chicago.

Since we live so close to the city we’re able to eat at these great places often. since many restaurants have locations outside of the city.

Good Morning friends and Happy Tuesday,

A foodie I am not in the least, that's my Dad! We are complete opposites there. Some foods we both enjoy are:

1 Our daily Campbell's Chicken Broth🥫that we share🥣
2 🥞I enjoy them more than he does. Just plain Kroger Brand along with Target's Market Pantry Syrup.
3 🍪treat every so often sure is tasty, too!

Ok so I’m a bit off - my parents are from the East Coast ( very East) I was raised by Southern lady who babysat me a lot ( all but lived there) and I grew up in the Midwest - so my taste for regional food is all over because I got several regions all the time to make it normal for me - I can say a few items seem only a STL thing - some I dislike but only people in STL seem to know

Pork Steak - nasty things - people here love them - I won’t eat them
It’s pork butt cut into steaks 🤮

Mostaccolli - served at every wedding you attend in STL - why ? I have no idea - went to out of state wedding was upset they didn’t serve any 🤣🤣 people grew up in STL they knew better 🤣🤣

Provel Cheese - it’s an acquired taste - hated it when I First had it thought it was nasty - over the years I’ve gotten used to it - Would prefer mozzarella if given a choice

Now for things I like -
Toasted Ravioli ❤️❤️❤️
Corn Bread - I like it when it’s cake like with some honey on top !
Ribs - bbq ribs yummy
Thin ( cracker thin ) crust pizza - yummy
AB Products - Bud Light - I do enjoy a cold beer every once in a while - especially when at a game ! Can only afford one at a game 🤣🤣🤣

STL is known for lots of food - we did a food thing on a TA cruise I took - I was really surprised at all the food from STL - lots from the 1904 World Fair - we did a small write up & recipe exchange - it was a lot of fun & very interesting to find out about foods from all the different cities & get recipes !

LOL - I love pork steaks and mostaccioli!

1. Gooey Butter Cake

2. This is a family one, but spam sandwiches lol - toast your bread, add a thin layer of spam slices, velveeta cheese, a pineapple ring, sprinkle brown sugar over everything and broil for a few minutes until melted and yummy! My DH won't even try them, but all the kids love them. We always had them when he was traveling for work!

3. BBQ burnt ends

I was going to LOVE your post you had me at GOOEY BUTTER CAKE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
BUT. You lost me forever with the word Spam 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I tried that again at Food & Wine a few years ago - nope still hate it no matter what you do to it - the state that eats it the most - Hawaii - they love the stuff !
Your more than welcome to my share of Pork Steaks too as I believe I’m the only person around who doesn’t care for them and my kids have no idea what they are as I never cooked them 🤣🤣 DD was well into her 20s when a friend offered her one and she had never heard of it - she’s like why didn’t we ever eat these ? They were good - I’m like because I’ve always found them to be tough nasty food - eat them at someone else’s house 🤣🤣
But bring on the Gooey Butter cake - yes please - Gooey Butter cookies - oh heck yes !!! I’ve sent those cakes to my NY friends they love them !!!

Good Morning!
Very beautiful day by me today 😎☀️

#1 - I’m grateful for cling wrap - I use it every day to tightly wrap up my DH’s wrap that I make him for lunch - I don’t know what I would use without it.

#2 - I’m grateful for my Clapper in my bedroom - I love love love my clapper - we’re on our 4 the one.

#3 - I’m grateful for my clothes - I have a nice assortment of work clothes and casual clothes. Because I like shopping at thrift stores, it’s easy to start getting to many, so I may need to start thinning out the closet soon.

Closet - love my bedroom closet I’m grateful I can keep all seasons of clothes out now

Clothes - grateful for my Disney clothes & my huge sweater collection - my two main items

Clean - I’m always grateful when things are cleaned - especially if someone else does it which rarely happens 🤣🤣 I do love clean sheets or a nice clean bathroom

TH Things:
1. Thumbs—my left one seems to be getting a bit of arthritis, but it only hurts occasionally—I am definitely grateful for that.
2. Thanksgiving—one of my favorite holidays during fall—my favorite time of year.
3. Thrift stores—I love having a place to pass on the things we no longer use that are still usable.

Free for all:
1. My older girls home safely for the holiday.
2. Celebrating Easter with my dad and sisters.
3. Excellent weather for the weekend.

Regional Foods:

1. Pittsburghers like to put fries on sandwiches and salads. I think it makes sandwiches too wide to eat, but I do enjoy a few fries on a salad.
2. Fish Fries: many of the local churches, VFW’s do Fish Fries on Fridays during Lent. Many of them are very elaborate in their offerings and we enjoy the food.
3. Cookie Tables—almost always there are cookie tables at weddings and the aunts, grandmas etc all make dozens and dozens of their best cookies for the table. Guests eat them there (along with the cake) and usually there are little to-go boxes to take some home.

90’s
1. Graduated from college
2. Got married
3. Bought first home

Cl Things:
1. A Clean house—I love a clean house—fills me with peace. Not so crazy about the actual cleaning lol but I love when it’s done.
2. Clairol—helps me keep the grays away
3. Clippers—necessary for the manicures and pedicures I give myself
