Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Silver or Gold -

1. Gold- my grandfather's heart when he was alive. He would quietly help family, friends, and neighbors. You would never know how much he had because he lived modestly (that's prob why he had so much lol).

2. Silver - the very nice watch my husband gave me 15 years ago for our 10th anniversary.

3. Gold - what I wore as a teenager in the early 90s. Herringbone was in style and it always reminds me of good times.

Happy start of the last week of November DIS friends

This is an easy one - I love sparkly things :goodvibes
How can I narrow it down to just 3? :scratchin

I‘m very grateful for my gold wedding rings, wedding band and anniversary bands. I’m also grateful to have my grandma’s wedding rings and wedding bands ❤️

I’m grateful for the below ⬇️ crucifix that hangs on my living room wall. When you slide the front up, the inside is hollow and stores a tiny bottle of holy water and my great grandmother’s (grandpa’s mom) funeral card - she passed away in 1971. It’s a wonderful family heirloom.

My living room Christmas tree (my formal tree - picture below ⬇️). The fun family tree with colored lights is in the family room, The formal tree is gold, silver and red (my living room is is white and red). My living room is the quiet room - no TV. This is the perfect room to read in, which is something I love to do, especially when this beautiful tree is up. This is the 19th Christmas for this tree and I have no desire to change it.

Today's Topic (Sun. 11/27) - 3 Silver or Gold Things You're Thankful For

1. My engagement and wedding rings--along with a gold 'Cross My Heart' necklace hubby gave me
2. The gold and silver decorations (along with irridescent) ornaments we put on our Christmas tree
3. The golden color of a bright sun

@slo Wow, did your picture of the crucifix just bring up memories. My great grandmother had the exact same one hanging over her bed as long as I can remember. I don't know what happened to it after she passed away . Thank you for posting that picture!
You’re welcome - I’m glad it gave you some memories today :goodvibes

1. My gold wedding band, diamond engagement ring, the gold cross from my Grandmother, jewelry passed down from my Mother, especially the opal lavalier, ring, and bracelet which are both our birthstone.
2. The silver ornaments on my silver and blue Christmas tree in my dining room.

3. The golden sunshine shining in the sky.

3 Silver or Gold Things You're Thankful For

Eksmama01, God Bless your grandpa's heart. What a lovely man. Perhaps he and my grandpa are now Angel friends. ITA with what you said about him with my own grandfather.

My gold cross necklace. I may post pandemic choose to pass it on to someone who needs it more and get a similar one for myself. What I like about this one is it is simple, and both the cross and chain are super light which I need with my TMJ issues.

Thinking about the Thanksgiving song "Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver the other is gold." Lol, never did quite figure out what exactly that may mean. But both types of friends are indeed blessings from God and have a place in our lives. I thank each of you for making a kind difference in my life.

Have a beautiful Sunday and blessed first day of Advent everyone.

@slo, I have a crucifix like that. It was in my parents’ bedroom, and is upstairs in our guest bedroom now. In our bedroom is a crucifix given to us when we were married.

Grateful for gold/silver

My gold charm bracelet that was my 16th birthday present from my parents. It has charms that signify important events/people/animals in my life.

On the charm bracelet is an American gold coin that my grandfather gave me. He had given me a few, and I have a few more to give out to family.

My hair is silver, and I’m happy to have it.

My mother always had one of those crosses in her house, as well. I still have it.

1. Last week I received a late birthday present from an old friend I recently reconnected with. It was a beautiful silver necklace with a lovely stone that is thought to have healing properties. I love it and it means so much to me. We’ve been friends since high school.

2. My gold wedding and engagement rings that I’ve worn for 35 and 40 yrs respectively, that are still beautiful to me.

3. My rescue dog has beautiful gold fur on his face, chest and legs. I‘m so grateful he found his way to us.

Oh, I remember that one from Girl Scouts!

My hair is silver, and I’m happy to have it.
Great answer!!

1) my wedding ring, and all it represents

2) coins - My grandma was in a coin collectors club, and used to take me with her sometimes. I still look for wheat pennies and think of her!

3) another vote for golden sunshine ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

3 pieces of advice you're grateful to have been given

(I'm having trouble with this one... not because I haven't had great people in my life who have given me great advice, but because most of the things that would seem like "advice" I feel like I learned naturally, or they were taught to me in a way that it didn't come across as "advice," if that makes ANY sort of sense.)
1. Put God first
2. Don't give advice when it's not asked for (Yes... advice about advice! Ha!)
3. Don't give up

3 Silver or Gold Things You're Thankful For

1. The moon
2. My reading lamp (stainless steel, I think?? So silver.)
3. The St. Louis arch! And yes, even locals, when coming home, will say (or at least think) "There's the arch!" and if you're just beyond St. Louis "proper" then it's the "almost home" sign (If coming from the right direction, that is!) (P.S. Choose your definition of "St. Louis proper." And only locals will probably understand just how much of a debate this really is. Ha!)

Three Adventures

1. Living in Japan and the Philippines - when my parents were young and adventurous. We were stationed there, but we went all over visiting cool places.

2. The time DH spent a couple of weeks out west. Our rental car was awful and could barely make it up the mountains in AZ.

3. All the times DH and I have moved. We've owned 5 houses and rented many others. I think we may be in our forever home now.

Today's Topic - 3 Adventures You're Grateful For

1. All the camping trips we took when ex and I were first married. We were very young, just starting out, short on cash, yet we managed to have some great times and made some wonderful memories. Things were so much simpler back then!!
2. My first trips ever to Disneyland and Disney World (95 and 96 respectively)
3. Our wedding trip to Myrtle Beach (where we got married on the beach at sunrise), and our honeymoon in WDW.

Ha ha - every time I drive somewhere I don’t know it’s an adventure !!!

Ones that stand out for me :
My first ever trip to WDW
My trip to Jamaica
My month long transatlantic / Norway cruise
Bonus - my trips I took with just me and my two kids - those were very special & fun !!!

3 Adventures You're Grateful For

1 Blessing of waking up each day and by God's Grace being able to healthily enter into it is absolutely an adventure I cherish.
2 Extra grateful dad and I got to take a trip to OR and WA in 2008.
3 Being in the church choir for several years and working at church camps was a blessed adventure of another kind.
