Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I'm thankful for Charles Schultz and Snoopy!

It's very wet here today, which makes me think how lucky I am to be warm and dry.

I'm grateful for the countryside views around here and as I drive into/out of downtown.

I'm grateful for helpful people.

...And things that make me laugh!

Loved seeing your cartoon. It reminded me that one year Peanuts was the theme of Ice in the Gaylord resort. I thought I would share this!

Quickie Answers Today…..

#1 - Jennifer Lawrence

#2 - Taylor Swift - I’m not a Swifty, but I do appreciate how she can show young girls that you don’t have to look and act trashy to be popular. I think she’s great.

#3 - Dame Maggie Smith

*Sidenote - one of my pictures has returned. Maybe the other one will reappear soon too.

Another vote for Maggie Smith! - She's been in so many things that I loved - especially Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter movies.

Angela Lansbury - loved her in Beauty & the Beast, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, and especially Murder She Wrote, which I used to watch with my Grandma, so it's definitely a comfort show for me now.

And Dolly Parton!! - One of my favorite singers and just an all-around wonderful person. I love her book charity, and think she really uses her fame for good. (Plus, she was also a favorite of my Mom's, so I feel a connection there as well.)

Absolutely I am so grateful for all who serve our country! I also liked Maggie Smith.

Mother Teresa

Vin Scully made a difference to me for so many years offering respite from first my childhood and later fun as an adult. in a similar way for a couple years. God had me become briefly a Braves fan. Skip Caray truly made a difference to me,

I will always appreciate that Bob Barker was an animal advocate.

I cannot pick an individual veteran I’m grateful for all veterans❤️
I work for a charity the services wounded veterans what they sacrificed for our freedom we cannot repay ❤️❤️
These men and women have lifelong injuries
Please consider them when doing your charitable donations - the VA can only do so much and these brave men and women sacrifice so much for everyone of us their care did not end when the war ended it’s on going for them and their families
They are all heroes each and ever one of them and I am very grateful for every single one of them !

Today's Topic (Sat, 11/11) - Individual Veterans you're grateful for, things you're grateful for about Veterans Day / Remembrance Day / Armistice Day... Interpret the category however it works best for you.

  1. To all the Veterans in my family. We have more than 3 so, it would be too many to name but, I am so proud of each one.
  2. Grateful for all veterans in general for their sacrifices, bravery and dedication to keeping us safe.
  3. Thankful for the Holiday to be able to honor our heroes.

For my Dad and FIL, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa

For the families of our Veterans, who also give up so much in the course of their service

For the people who use their time and talent to organize Veterans Day ceremonies like the one I went to this morning

@PollyannaMom @WDWEPCOT @flyingdumbo127 @maryblanchard49 - As I posted above, grateful for vets 1, 2, and 3.
This is what I posted on Dan Murphy's thread about veterans.

On a upsetting note, did you hear about the Redmond, WA school in my area that replaced the traditional Veterans Assembly with a "Peace Assembly" to honor the “International Day of Tolerance” sponsored by the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. They didn't play the traditional patriot songs you would expect to hear honoring our Veterans.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for peace but V-Day is to celebrate our Veterans. Have the Peace assembly on some other day but don't rob our vets of the day we should be honoring them.

Okay. Once again, I'm very far behind, and won't do all of them I've missed, but will do the ones that "catch my eye" and such. Doesn't mean the ones I skipped are "bad" ones. Just trying not to write a novel, and save a bit of time.

As promised, mom update (which you can see some in my "3,2,1" topic

My mom came home from rehab yesterday afternoon. She's doing really well with the walker, but still has some pain. Getting around the house quite well with a combination of the walker and wheelchair. She was able to take a shower by herself, and was able to get up int he middle of the night to use the bathroom on her own as well. MUCH better than she was at this point last week, and improving every day, but still needs some assistance, obviously.
