Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Tuesday morning, everyone :)

So many wonderful "PL" answers already! So of my favorites already mentioned include, "Play and playgrounds, please and thank you, Planet Earth, and plain"--plain eater=me +plain and simple is so often the kindest choice to make.

pluto:and soft, plus stuffed animal friends 🧸as WDWEPCOT said, as well. How I had a huge stuffed animal collection as a kid. Loved and had names for them all.

Other "PLs" that I don't think I have been mentioned yet:

1 Play Doh!
2 Playmobile kids
3 Plinko! Dad and I would so love to play this on Price is Right!

Hi everyone
A quick lunch time check in….

#1 - I’m grateful for this planet - none of us would be here without it.

#2 - I’m grateful for planes - I’ll be on one June 6th - I can hardly wait.

#3 - I’m grateful for paper plates - I’m using one right now 🙂👍🏻

We used to go to Silver Dollar City every few years or so. They do have a beautiful Christmas Display and similar to Dollywood mentioned above, I believe the focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

If you do end up going or putting a group together, DH and I could possibly meet you there! It would somewhat depend on dates and if DH qualifies for a trip that he's eligible for each year. It's always in December, but we don't know if he made it until sometime early September.

So, keep us in mind if you go!
Glad to hear that you and your DH might be able to meet up there! So far, I don't know of anyone else who can go, but yes, I'll keep this in mind. If even one or two people can meet me there for sure, I'd like to go. I was hoping more from this thread would be able to join us, but if not, I'm thinking about maybe starting a new thread for the trip idea.

Ok @WDWEPCOT hold your horses....I had to make new room reservations before I could do anything today :D :D :D

1930s....

@PollyannaMom is trying to make it hard today!

1. Hoover Dam. Funny TRUE story. Visited early one morning. Only ones there. Had to go potty so went to the one that is in one of those tall things on the dam bridge. It was dark so I walked in and up the stairs (natural light up top). Did my business, came down the stairs. My eyes had finally adjusted. THE FLOOR WAS COVERED IN THESE BIG HUGE BLACK CRICKET TYPE THINGS. Never seen them before or since. OMG!!!!! Think Indiana Jones. I had to LEAP 12 feet or so to get out without stepping on them. The horror of knowing I had walked through them to begin with makese me freak even now. Whew. Sorry that was long.
2. Nylon - remember when it was expected that we wear dresses and pantyhose? I did for years until one day it seemed like everyone collectively stopped!
3. Photocopiers. I mean, how would any doctor's office verify who we are? LOL

Things from the 1930's I'm grateful for:

Sliced Bread - Did you ever hear anyone call something "the greatest thing since sliced bread"? Well, until the 30s, bread didn't come pre-sliced! I'm grateful not to have to make a mess slicing it every time I make toast, a sandwich, etc.

Chocolate Chip Cookies - the original Toll House Cookies were invented not far from here in 1933. 🍪

Scotch Tape was also invented in 1930 - and it's definitely a handy product I am grateful to use all the time!

This is a tough one!

1. I found that High Speed Photography was invented. That is a great one that has only improved over the years!
2. As others have said - scotch tape - it's hard to imagine what we'd do without it today!
3. The jet engine was invented, although it wasn't used in flight until 1941, it was invented in the 1930's

1930s

I had to do a little research for this one!

Apparently, the world's first emergency telephone service 999 began to be used in 1937.

The BBC began its first regular television programming in the early 30s.

"Cat's eyes" marking the center of the road were also invented in the UK in the 30s.

I appreciate all of those. It's amazing the things we usually take for granted, isn't it?! :D

And across the pond in the US...

Chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip cookies! 😋😋😋 (I just wish it was easy to buy the soft, chewy kind over here. British biscuits/cookies are usually crunchy.)

And car radios. :thumbsup2

And nylon toothbrushes. :thumbsup2
