Three Mobile - Feel At Home

I know Three mobiles Feel At Home service works in USA but does it work with Aeromobile? I am flying Virgin Atlantic, most of their fleet is equipped with Aeromobile so it would be useful to know.

Not an answer but I am with Three as well - do you have to let them know that you will be abroad or does it automatically work? Also is it just for voice and text or does it include data?

If you are on a contract I understand you need to activate it 30 days in advance of travel.

I've just bought a PAYG sim for £15 which gives 300 minutes, 3000 texts and all you can eat data and lasts for 30 days and effective from when you buy the add on. The calls and texts are only for texting or calling home, not for calling USA numbers.

I bought it as an insurance incase I drop my phone again this year and smash the screen so this is going in a spare phone

It's for voice, text and data.

Voice and text is for calls back to uk or to other 3 numbers in USA so very handy for keeping in touch with your party if you are all on 3.

I have emailed them my aeromobile question, if it's a "yes" then I want it in writing just in case they charge me.

You don't need to wait 30 days on contract but make sure international roaming is enabled. Unlike other networks it's disabled by default on three. I was there three weeks ago and found that out! A pricey call to three later and it was all sorted (well four hours later anyway).

I think you can do it on the web when at home, just not abroad.

Once sorted it worked brilliantly.

I'm with 3 and read about taking your plan with you.

Is it really as simple as it sounds? I have unlimited calls, texts and data. The data is the one I was worried about - I didn't want to have to remember to keep switching things on and off when I go out.

Yes a friend of mine used it in USA. He said it was exactly like being at home.

He had his phone off on the flight though so don't know about aeromobile yet

I would guess it will be a no to using on the plane for free as I think Virgin would probably have some sort of charge built in to the call rates you get charged - they are unlikely to offer it for free.

They have onboard wifi on some routes and that is ridiculously expensive!

Three called me. They have a roaming deal with Aeromobile but it is not included in Feel At Home, they said it may be in the near future as they are looking to double the Feel At Home destinations over the next 12 months.

Can I just say - I really hope they don't add Aeromobile as a feel at home destination.

The roaming charges are enough to put most people off chatting on their phones while on the plane - the thought of 7 hours of people using their phones because they can is my idea of a nightmare!

That's great news (doubling destinations). I LOVE using my data allowance in Italy and the USA, it saves me tons of money every trip.
I just hope they'd add Germany and France and I'll be an happy man.

About using in on the flight: it would be nice, but I can live 8 hours without being connected. I just hope they'd enforce a strict "no noise" policy.

Quite honestly, I enjoy the flight sans electronics. It's probably the longest stretch of time in any given day of my life where I don't feel strapped to my phone for one reason or another.
