Hernia surgery was great. Sore. But OK.

Haven't punished myself enough - the 'Big V' is tommorrow (sorry Big V).

Anyone got a bag of frozen peas?

Having recently gone through the Big V with DH, those bags of frozen peas are worth it!

Funny story...DH was talking at work about sitting around with frozen peas on his "package" after the surgery. Several of the guys he works with have also had the Big V, so it was a sympathy talk. One of the other guys mentioned that he would never eats peas at our house again. So of course, what did I have to serve the next time he came over for dinner??? Peas!

Good luck Jeff! According to my DH, the procedure itself is not that bad (he even had a female Dr). However, the next several days will not be fun. Take the pain meds they give you; this is not one of those times to gut out the pain!

They couldn't do it. Stillt too swollen from the Hernia surgery. The guy asked "why didn't you do this at the same time as the Hernia?".

Uh, your nurse told me that I couldn't because of insurance.

Oh.

So now I have to wait 6 weeks for the swelling to go down enough and then I can get my 4th hole.

Awww I'm so sorry you have to go thru waiting twice.

This is one of those times that it looks to ME like the insurance company just wanted to screw someone for two proceedures, not simply combine it into a one day episode for ya.

Did I say "screw"? Sorry. I meant ........awww heck, yeah, I meant screw.

Buy at least 1 more if not 2. The rate they go through the bags, you need time to catch up on freezing. I had 4 bags for DH, and barely kept ahead on te rotation.

Sorry to hear about the delay Jeff. For guys, I think the anticipation is far worse thatn the actual deed on this one!

Hey jfulcer....try to see if you can get the oriental method....no incision or cutting necessary. They make an injection of novacaine and then expand the needle hole with tweezers. From there they take a soldering gun type device and do the 'slicing and dicing with that'. There are no stitches and recovery time is shorter than with an incision. It worked for me (at least I haven't had any other kids) but after an hour or so, I felt like I wanted another.

They are doing a 'no scalpel' method - where they punch a small hole and do everything through that. If, after 6 weeks the swelling hasn't gone down (which is possible) then I have to have it done via a scalpel - no choice there. Ah well.

Ah well, at least the poor ole boys get a bit of a reprieve.
