Three cheers for AKL concierge...

If you can't decide where to stay on your next WDW vacation, go for the AKL, where they really care about the guests!

Here's a recap of the story for those of you who missed it on the Community Board:

Fellow DISers found out about a young woman who is dying from cancer and whose only wish is to take her children to WDW before she dies. People from this great DIS community donated what they could; DVC points, gifts for the kids, air miles, money.... by the time we were done we were able to send Stephanie and her family to BWV for 5 nights and AKL for 4 nights. They're there right now! They've just finished their stay at OKW and will be checking into AKL today.

I had the pleasure of making friends with Lynn when I stayed in AKL concierge last year and then this year she was my itinerary planner for our stay at AKL in 3 weeks. I emailed her and told her about Stephanie. Lynn talked to the powers that be in concierge and they're giving Stephanie and her family a complimentary upgrade to concierge!!!!!

This truly is the trip of a lifetime for Stephanie, she's very ill. I'm so grateful to AKL for making the trip extra special for her and helping to create happy memories for her children.

This is the magic of Disney that keeps us going back year after year.

WOW, I have the chills from your post. I have to start reading the community board. I am so glad that Stephaine and her children can enjoy some time together in the most magical place in the world. Please keep us updated and I am headed to the community boards right now, I just wish I could of been part of her magical experience. my prayers are with Stephanie, let's pray for a miracle.

As I stated on the CB, it is a wonderful thing the Dis'ers have done!! ***********, you are to be commended for your help in getting her upgraded!! I am sure they are all having the best time!!

It's oh so easy sometimes to be negative....but, with the power of 'the magic'....all things can be accomplished!

Oh, I didn't know about this story. Thanks for passing it along. I had a co-worker (overseas) who was a single mother with ALS, and her dying wish was to take her son to Disneyland Paris. My company rallied to her aid and we were able to give her, her son, and her significant other a trip of a lifetime. When all was said and done, she shared with us her beautiful photos and her glowing trip report. Sadly, she died within a year of that trip. Just reading what you posted about this other woman has given me goosebumps. I am so happy to hear that not only did the good folks of the Dis rally to her aid, the wonderful staff of the AKL did, too. I always felt that the AKL had the best staff on-site, and you just proved it to me once again by your post. Bravo for Disney and the kind hearts of its Cast Members. And bravo for the Dis and the kind hearts of its community.

What better way to make some lasting memories for her children than by going to WDW. I always knew there was something special about the people on these boards. Way to go *********** and the people at the AKL that gave the complimentary upgrade. Stephanie and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated as to how the trip went.
