I was cruising through the net just now and found out that today in 1609 Three Blind Mice was first published in London...man, who would have known it was that old. Just had to pass that along.

The oral version is probably older than that. A lot of nursery rhymes (Ring Around the Rosies also) can be dated back to the Black Death - a kind of macabre way of dealing with illness and death.
