I purchased my original 270 point master contract for BCV Dec use year and then added on another 50 points - different contract number - suffix is a .002 for the 50 add on

Does that mean I have two contracts to work with for reservations, banking and borrowing or do I just (LOL) transfer the points to myself under my .000 contract if needed????

I think I am making myself  with all this stuff....

thanks

no same contract...any add ons are suffixed that way, i.e 002, 003 etc.

No mistake made! The numbers after the decimal are for add-ons to the master contract. XXXXXX.000, XXXXXX.001, .002, .003 etc...
DVC would not let you buy a new master contract unless you bought at least 150 points.

Have fun with those extra points!

Your add-on is a separate contract. However, if both of your contracts are the same use year you can forget about the multiple contracts right now. It's a non-issue.

Are the first numbers the same, just the .002 is different? That is how DVC does all add-ons. Mine are .002, .003, .004, .005, .006 and .007 They are all the same main contract. You will be fine, no transfering needed if that is the case.

Wow, when I hit the reply, there were no replys yet, and 3 snuck in before me!

If I buy an add on resale..... 150 pts....... same use year, will it be listed as a different main contract? or linked together?

One of the reasons we purchased a second at 150 was to be able to pass them on, one to each child.

AMAZING RESPONSES.............

Yippee........:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I get a reprieve from the nuthouse....and can plan to the one master contract

Yes it is a suffix so master is .000 and add-on is .002

Wow what a relief

My whole family both sides sees me as the "master" disney planner..........

Thanks

Tom and Jen.... One of the reasons we broke down our contracts into several small ones of 150 and 170 was so we could pass them on or sell them if need be. I am not sure how they would assign a new master number once you split them up though?

They would likely be one master contract, and one add-on. You could always ask for it as a seperate master, but that would mean two membership numbers, and the possible need to transfer points to complete a ressie.--Too much work for me.

There is no reason you could not pass on the two contracts individually as a .000, and a .001 (master and add-on).

Good luck....

HOLD THE PHONE!!!!
I just re-read your post, and saw it was a resale. A resale would likely be seperate masters, with two membership numbers.

I thought that if they were the same use year, MS would take care of it when recorded? At least thats how I understood it.

Is there anyone out there with a clarification on this?

I hope i didn't make a mistake here............

Well, Dean or Doc are the resale gurus, and could give you a definitive answer.

The problem that I see, is that it would close with the original contract number, then DVC would have to switch it after it is recorded. I'm not sure that could be done easily.

Perhaps Dean or Doc can shed the resale light on this, as I have not bought a resale, and could have the above sequence incorrect.

PS- I don't think it really matters either way. Your point management may be a tad tougher, but there would not be any problem having two master contracts.

This one is interesting because that 50 point add on was someone else's add on contract. If you had added on through Disney the suffix of your first add on would be .01. This is .02.

Maistre Gracey: I'm just thinking out loud here but the original contract was probably either sold to someone else in another resale or the original purcahser still has it, so this 50 point contract can't be refererenced to that original master contract anymore. But it still has a different number? I see your point of wondering how this is handled?

As long as it has the same use year, it shouldn't pose any problems for making reservations or banking and borrowing but I would call MS in the morning and discuss it with them to make sure.

Happy Birthday Cat, when we did our first add on to our master we received a .002 suffix on our contract and the original and add on (this being our first add on) were purchased through Disney....

Strange

Thanks

Points bought separately are always technically a separate contract. DVC does treat anything bought as an add on FROM THEM in the same use year as part and parcel of your original contract. That's where you get the same contract numbers with just a different suffix, 001, 002, etc.

If you buy a single contract (resale or not) then buy a resale of the same use year, it's usually but not always treated as an add on to your orignal, just like above. I asked them this question at Member Admin and that's what they told me. I got the impression that they try to give them the same number but sometimes they don't know to or the registration might be different. If they are differnt use years, they will be treated as totally separate contracts.

I have this going on right now where I traded for an OKW add on contract and have made it clear every step of the way that I want it linked to my BWV contract. We'll see how it goes.

I have 2 Dec. UY add-on's, by resale. I have the same member number, different contract. My June UY is a different member number. When I call MS they link it with my name or SSN, they have different ways to link them. They can always tell me where my points are and always try to help in using the points properly.
Regards, Rich

I have 3 (soon to be 4) contracts:

Original 350 OKW Feb UY - resale
Addon 50 OKW Feb UY-Disney
Addon 150 HH Feb UY- Disney
Addon 50 OKW Feb UY-resale (in progress)

So far I have one membership number and a main contract with two addendums (.001, .002) I suspect my new resale will be .003, and the only time I ever think of these as distinct from one another is if I sell. Is that right? (This thread confused me!)

Thanks!

If you sell and for home resort priority.

In speaking with the broker, He mentioned that when the paperwork goes to Disney, after they "hopefully" turn down their ROFR and I sign the paperwork, It will be noted that I currently own and to have it registered appropriately.

i hope this will suffice and not become an issue when I go to use points. This is so I don't have to transfer points from one contract to another, because that is only allowed once a year, correct?

Tom
