Happy Labour Day All!!!

(hope you don't mind the Canadian spelling ;) )

Pikester - love the smileys.

Just checking in to see how everyone's weekend is going. Bopsmom-keeping you in my prayers! :goodvibes

Having a slow weekend here. I'm trying to get lots of much delayed house work done :laundy:, but it feels way to good just sit and relax!

DH went to the Hawkeyes game yesterday, today is a lazy day with a small group meeting and dinner tonight. That should be fun. Tomorrow is hopefully going to be another lazy day-unless I can talk DH into doing some school shopping.....doubtful! That's ok though-a day home with my boys sounds good too! :goodvibes

I found a good deal yesterday! :cool1: It all of the sudden dawned on me that the boy's swim trunks were already getting small at the end of the summer and they probably wouldn't fit by January. I found DS 18 mo. Nemo trunks for $1 (!!) and DS6 Transformer trunks for $5! I think I was more proud of myself for thinking that far ahead...I'm much more of a last minute person normally!

good for you! It's usually harder finding summer items in winter.

Bopsmom Gustav is down to a cat 2, hopefully it'll downgrade faster.:wizard:
pepperw23 Glad you are back. I'm hoping to stay at Ft Wilderness next time. I already knew about using golf carts but I need the exercise. ;)
I've always wanted to try all the resorts. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford GF (I can't really afford any ot the deluxes anymore :sad2: )

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Shmu, sounds like a lovely day you and DH had. The pictures are beautiful.

Its September! Its my Disney month---I can officially pack! Now I don't know what to do...

aliciajab--good thinking! That's why we went shopping on Friday. To stock up on all the clearance summer stuff! They had some great sales! I got a bathing suit for $2!

DL55...I don't think I'll ever be able to afford any of the moderates or the deluxes. I don't even know if we'll stay onsite again...it'll be a matter of free dining. We like to stay offsite and to rent a car. We like to check out the "other" side of Orlando....but that's not to say we wouldn't love to stay in a deluxe!

Booty, I really have to go grocery shopping. I don't want to do it. Food prices just get me depressed. Butter and milk prices are outrageous! But I'm not leaving until two weeks, so I have to have some sort of food until then...yuck. I could spend that money at Disney!

Good day all! TTYL!

Hello All,

Spent the day doing this
6.gif
only on the inside of the house. Labor day and I find more "labor" to do instead of taking the day off.

Welcome back Pepper. Glad you had a great time, but sorry you didn't like the Fort. We actually prefer to stay off site when we go. Like Magikitty said, we like to explore the other side of Orlando and of course, make our Pilgrimage to Daytona. :worship: :worship: The best place we have stayed that felt "magical" was in DTD. We stayed at the Best Western tower and had a room facing DTD and Epcot. Saw the fireworks and could feel the "magic" from the lights at DTD. When we stayed at the All Stars (once) it didn't feel magical at all. Go figure.

Shmu - Loved the pics and the video. Very cute. Can you get the flat Tkers to sing a song on Utube for us? :rotfl2:

Pikester - very nice smilies. You always care enough to post the very best.

:wave2: to the rest of the gang. Happy Labor day to you!

So did everyone survive the long weekend? I can't believe the summer holidays are over. On one hand I am VERY happy that school starts tomorrow :cheer2: ...but I'm not looking forward to the cold weather.

Hi everyone!!!! Took the kids to "see" the Jonas Brothers last night. DDs 5 & 7 were shocked. We didn't tell them until we got there. It was a nice night for them. I spent my whole day trying to finalize my park plans. I just don't have enough days in Disney to do all that I want. Everytime I get a pretty good schedule, I find something else that we will want to do. I was going to plan a night at Epcot just for DH and I. But I might have to cut that out. I decided I want to take the kids to Epcot to see all the Santas in World Showcase and I can only work that into our plans on the night we were going to go out. Oh well, I'll find room in our schedule to do something with DH.

aleciajab-I set up the Richard Petty Drive Along for my DH for this vacation. He really wanted to drive the cars but that just isn't in our budget. The price for it is 116.09 but if you get the mousesavers email newsletter, there is a link to buy discounted tickets. If you don't get it, let me know and I'll pm it to you.

A friend of mine just took her DD to the Jonas Bros concert in Chicago. She couldn't get over all the screaming girls. I had to laugh...I told her that would have been me at her DD's age if I had gotten to see the New Kids On The Block in concert! Fun for your kids!

You'll have to let me know the RPDE goes. I'm a little nervous about it. I've only found that the ride a long is on a first come/first serve basis. I don't want my dad and DH to end up spending a whole day there waiting. KWIM? I soooooo hear you on the cost of driving the cars not in the budget! Those prices are insane!!!

HELLO to everyone! I hope you all had a relaxing and safe weekend! :goodvibes

So did everyone survive the long weekend? I can't believe the summer holidays are over. On one hand I am VERY happy that school starts tomorrow :cheer2: ...but I'm not looking forward to the cold weather.

Too funny! We've been in school here since Aug. 21! It already feels like it's been months! I don't mind it though. DS6 is in 1st grade this year, so far every day has been something new!

I hear you on the cold weather. My favorite season is fall....not too hot, not too cold. I had DS6 try on all of his pants and long sleeve shirts today to see what he had grown out of over summer. I had to order all new pants today, he was good to go on the shirts still thank goodness! I'm just hoping he won't grow much over the next 4 months, so his summer clothes will still fit when we hit WDW! :woohoo:

It's been so hot here the past week that I haven't even looked to see what DS has in the way of fall clothes. Unfortunately there is no where nearby to shop for kid's clothes (the nearest Walmart is even 40 mins away), so I'll have to make a trip to the city soon to get his back to school clothes.

Either that or get out the Landsend catalogue ;)

Luckily my sister (who LOVES to shop) has a daughter 3 years older than mine, so I get bags of hand me downs. DD has more clothes than she can wear.

Not having a Wal Mart in my town would be great for me! :rotfl: That's really the only "shopping" that we have here. It's kind of a "touristy" town, so all of our local shops are pretty expensive. I have to drive at least 45 minutes to get to any real shopping. That's a nice escape every once in awhile though! :)

I found some pretty decent deals on Children's Place and Old Navy today....shipping was cheaper than gas at least! :)

That is great that you can get hand me downs! I would love that! My nephew is the same age as my oldest and my sister only has girls!

Forgive my geography....is Ontario near Niagra Falls?

Hey everyone! How was everyone's holiday? It wasn't really eventful here, and for that I'm thankfiul. I hope everyone is safe and happy.

Not too exciting here...went to the grocery and it wasn't too bad. I prepared with a shopping list and coupons, so I spent the amount I expected to.

I too live fairly rural. We have a Walmart about 10 minutes away, but any serious shopping is about thirty minutes away--which I think is good for my wallet! We have outlet stores about 20 minutes beyond that--and of course NYC is less than 2 hours away!

I don't have any children of my own (yet) but I have several godchildren, neices, and nephews that I like to spoil and I can't keep up with them! And how do they sprout up a few inches over the summer, but remain the same size in shirts? Or wear the same clothes for several months, but their shoes no longer fit? Its just crazy!

Watching the Gustav coverage. Several more storms seem to be developing. I'm beginning to get a little concerned about my upcoming trip. :scared1:

Magikitty Sending you :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes for your trip!! I read a thread somewhere in the land of threads that I seem to lose HOURS in every day...that you don't need to worry about hurricanes in Orlando. ??? :confused3 I didn't read the thread though. Hopefully whoever posted it is right!

Amen on kids growing taller, but still fitting in shirts! Kids amaze me daily! I'm worried DS6 is going to need new tennis shoes right before we go. I don't want him to have to break in a new pair down there! His "old" shoes fit him great still...and he still believes that they make him "super fast"! Too cute! :) I almost want his feet to grow faster so I can get them well before we go!

You are soooo lucky to live so close to NYC! I can't wait to visit there someday!!

Its funny, coz my younger sister has lived in Manhattan for over a year and I have yet to stay over! It just gets so busy with our schedules. I'm looking forward to spending my (and BKMETV's) birthday in NYC this year. Its strange, its so close, but I really don't go down there as much as I should! I think I actually spend more time in DC with my friends...

Thanks for the :pixiedust: re: hurricanes. From what I've read on the boards also, it seems that Disney does handle what weather they get really well. I just hope they keep the restaurants open--coz this is the first time we're eating TS and I'm really really looking forward to it!

Morning!

We actually have plans this weekend. Tonight we are taking the girls to see the Jonas Brothers at our local fair. DD12 knows about it but we haven't told the younger 2 yet. They think we are just going to the fair to walk around. On Monday, we are going back to the fair because DD5 wants to see the demolition derby. She has turned into a regular tomboy.

I haven't watched GH for so long. I do read up on it everyweek but I just can't seem to find the time to watch. One of these days. :lmao:

Sounds like a nice weekend. You'll find the time soon.

We're planning a quiet weekend...getting ready for school Tuesday. :cool1:

We really lucked out in the weather...it's suppose to be sunny at high 20s until Wednesday (that's around 85 if I remember correctly)...so I think we'll just laze around the pool.

Then of course there's the dreadly endless pile of laundry...but we won't go there!! ;)

We are having nice weather too! Kids go back Thursday and it is suppose to go up to 90!!! Well at least DD's new HS has AC, then she should be able to breath. Laundry where's that magical fairy???? I would like to wake up one day and all the laundry is done folded and put away:wizard:.

Went to a cookout tonite--I'd have been just fine if not for the chips and pretzels before dinner! Oh, yeah, and the stop at DQ on the way home... But still, all in all not a bad day foodwise.

I went to Verizon and exchanged all our phones. Now I have an LG enV, which I really like so far! MUCH easier to work than the Glyde. The kids are less than thrilled with their plain old boring phones, but oh well, that's life!

Tomorrow we just have church, and no plans for Monday. DS has friends coming over on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we all have our first music lessons on Wednesday. Thursday is the first day of school!:cool1:  :yay: :woohoo: (hmmm, can you tell I'm happy about it?)

Watching Gustav constantly. Bopsmom, what's the word down there?? Any evacuation orders for y'all? I just heard NO has some areas of mandatory evacuations for tomorrow. GOOD!!!! Better safe than sorry!

Weather here is hot and getting hotter--going to be 89 by Wednesday! Guess I'll get a little more wear out of my shorts!

Off to bed--have to be at church at 8:45!:scared1:

DD loves the Envy. She's the phone nut. Had the original one when that came out. They really didn't perfect it though. went through a few more then had the envy had problems then switched to the blackberry pearl. The must have, well guess what she missed the envy. Her BF's friend had a envy didn't like it got something else and gave her the envy. She know how to switch the #'s to another phone so you don't have to go to the store for them to do it. I think that's what I'm going to get, b/c I like the key board. To old to text quick like these kids.
WOO HOO Baby Lighttech has been born.
That info itself has made my day.

Praying for everyone involved in the storm heading to the states.

Yes I think a Flat TKer pic in a car at the Sci Fi would be great. I'll see what I can do.:thumbsup2

DH and I are celebrating our 22 Anniversary this weekend.
Actual Anniversary was yesterday.
Today we are going to Stone Mountain and have a picnic.
We use to date there all the time and he proposed to me on top of the mountain.

Congratulations to everyone who has kids that start school this week.:lmao: :lmao:

Gotta go get ready for church.
Hope everyone has a safe, terrific weekend.

Happy Anniversary!!!!! Loved the pic's and your singing video!!!

1000 POSTS

This one should do it.
Had to have my 1000th post on my favorite thread.:thumbsup2

:dance3: Congrat's on your 1000post!!!!
Ok, I'm back....!

Wait...on GH, Laura's back? Does she know who she is? I thought she was comatose or something...I haven't watched in ages, but I do love a good Luke/Laura storyline.

Bopsmom...are you guys ok down there? Will Gustav affect you at all? My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please keep safe!

disney54us...the AMEX settlement was about those who purchased AMEX travel insurance in the past. I guess they charged everyone incorrectly and was refunded part of the difference and was given settlement money. WEGMANS! I love Wegmans....now that my twins are at Binghamton, when we go visit them at college, I get to stop by my beloved Wegmans again! Ah, its deja vu all over again....

Shmu....are you ready yet? I've just gotten over the BF's wallet fiasco. He has received one new CC in the mail, so he's almost out of the doghouse. I've packed my poncho and flip flops, I'm hoping we won't get wet weather while down there, but I'll be ready just in case! My plan B for wet weather is movies at West Side and some quality time at Virgin Records....and a quick run to the outlets! Congrats on 22 years too! You can just delay your celebration for a few weeks!

Outlet shopping was good, but the real deals to be had was at the mall. Finish Line had a sick sale on sneakers. Their clearance sneakers were already heavily discounted, and another 30% on top of that! Plus they take their coupons....we ended up getting 11 pairs of sneakers and one pair of boots for $200! Lots of holiday shopping done!

JCPenney had a great sale too. Their clearance items were $1.97! Two dresses I had been eyeing were mine finally--for $4! We brought the wrong car-the little elantra--and it was packed full! But well worth it. I got some great shorts for Disney soon....

I'm off to check Alamo rate again! I'm positive I can get it cheaper....good day everyone! TTYL!

Yep, she's back!!! Laura is helping LULU who ended up in Shadybrooke b/c she is haunted by Logan's ghost who she killed.
Wow you cleaned up on your shopping trip. 11 prs of sneakers:confused3.

I know what you mean about the fighting, everything seems to be a battle between the two of them.

I've been counting down for a couple of weeks...I'll be the one dancing at the bus stop on Tuesday :cool1:

:rotfl: yeah while you have the mom's crying as they send off their little ones for the first time. They will think what's wrong with this women.

Hey :wave2: guys
We have company (Family of friends) coming in from Lafayette and Lake Charles stopping on their way to San Antonio-or waiting it out here then moving on.

We are still not out of trouble-a Cat4 can steer out of the current so we are waiting. We have the shutters down on the 2nd floor but are waiting to put them on the first.

Sorry not to add to the conversation I haven't caught up-just wanting to check in and say we are ok and are taking in those from Louisianna and E Texas and hoping that Gustav stays on track.

More later.

Holly
So glad you checked in! Been wondering about you. Stay safe and check in so we know your okay.

The kids went back to school today!!!

:yay: guess your happy!!!!

Well Killers did my multi quoting catch up. Can't believe it's Tuesday Summer came and went. Sunday we had the block party which was good and bad.
WARNING Vent coming:
Remember the stuff w/DS and the two kids and the BB guns. Well the one kid wasn't there (thank God). DS was having fun with a couple of kids that they don't live on the block but are friend w/ people and came. Then The mean kid and another who is nice but lives next door to mean kid come riding down on there bikes (they live up the block). Okay so a bunch of them are all playing but I can see DS sorta backing off b/c of meany. I am trying to keep a watchful eye and then I was setting up the lasso golf game but the went up to the HS which is up the block. I had DH check b/c as you know I don't trust meany. DH said they were up there, well a few later I see them coming back but no DS. I ask nice kid where DS is, but then I see him walking down. I asked what happened and he said they ditched him, I could tell he was upset and everything was going well until meany showed up. Nice kid ask DS where he was and DS says I came into the field and you guys started leaving Nice kid starts to say something that had to do with meany so go figure. I looked at nice kid and said well that explains it the name you just used in that sentence sums it up.
DS is now all upset and goes in the house, goes downstairs and wants to stay in and watch TV. It broke my heart, he is sitting there all by himself on the verge of tears b/c of this little bully. He wouldn't come out for me so I was going to stay with him. DH came in and asked what happened, he got on my nerves a little to be quite honest, but did convince DS to come back out. Some on had set up a badmitten and they were playing. Meany's mom wasn't there but his Dad had come down. He was off sitting at a table, I was sitting around another group and DH was talking to some other neighbors. I look up and I see DH heading over to the net so I get up and head over. I didn't see what happen that prompted him but he apparently saw some happen with meany and DS. I get there, and DH is saying look you don't have to like each other then stay away from each other DS has tears in his eyes and Meany kid does too. From what I got, meany kid was saying and provoking DS and then saying what are you going to do go tell your dad.
Well, as we are standing there meany's dad finally walks over.
Now let's remember, what his son did some months ago and to boot unlike the other kids mom who walked her kid over made him face and apolegize to all of us, his mom call said how sorry she was and sent him down to say sorry. Which was all he said I'm sorry and puff he left. Sorry but he got off a little to easy.
So meany's dad comes up and says 'what's the problem?' DH starts with these two don't get along, to which his reply yeah I know. Here's the kicker all this dad was concerned about was that his kid was crying!!!! Mmmm, are we starting to figure out why he is like this. I couldn't believe it, here his kid is trying to tell 'his side' but is starting to cry and all he can do is look at him and say "stop the tears" then walks closer (basically gets in his face) and again "says did you hear me stop the tears". That's it and walks away.
I now know why this kid is a bully and starts must be that be tough, be a man type of raising. In addition, I have a feeling that everything is about the older sister who was a big Basketball 1000 pt scorer in HS and graduated last year with a free ride to college.
So once again DS goes inside I have DD and BF take him to get ice cream and get away from the block for a bit. Father goes home a little bit after but meany is still out. When they had the ice cream truck come later something happen again. DH was up that way I was talking to the a friend actually we bought the house from her she moved 2 blocks away.
So there you go, I'm really sick of this and have to say kinda get now why the kid acts this way, but sorry not at the expense of my DS.
Bad thing is he is in DS's grade and class b/c they only have one class p/grade. He is older but I think a summer b/day so parents held him back. He is big even if he was in going into 6th, he is big for his age.
Thinking of letting principal know that there is a conflict b/t the two so the teacher can be aware.

Oh disney54us! What a terrible situation! Sixth grade is hard enough as it is (my nephew is starting 6th too) but to go into classes knowing that this Mean Kid is going to be there too! You're totally right in letting both the principal and the teacher know that there is a history between DS and Mean Kid.

Its not right how your DS is being treated, but now you know where it stems from. The mean kid doesn't know any different. He's confused being dominant with being a leader. I just hope your DS has some good friends with him and can avoid Mean Kid as much as possible.

My little nephew said the same thing. He was the new kid in class last year. So I asked him if he was excited for school to start, especially since he won't be the new kid anymore. He said "yeah, but they'll still make fun of me". I told him that its tough, but people still make fun of me too. You just have to be better than that and not let it get your down. They're the ones stupid enough to show just HOW stupid they are.

Big hugs to your DS and your family. Just be there for him and let him deal with it as he needs to.

Thanks, but that is the problem he is new to the school and it's the neighborhood meany's. Gotta tell you just lovin the bishop right now for closing what was a wonderful school:rolleyes:

:woohoo:

"Hope springs eternal" :lmao:

disney54us A  for your DS. Does the meany ever get physical? I doubt teachers/ principals ever get bullies to stop. Hopefully they will at least try. Encourage DS to make friends at school and ignore meany. I remember (faintly) 6th grade I know I didn't like the bullies and tried to be friends with everyone (except the bullies of course). It is tough dealing with bullies since you can't knock sense into them (KWIM). :flower3:

Oh, yes he has gotten physical. Thanks for the hugs. It is sad, that you try to teach your kids right from wrong but the problem is other parents don't.
