Evening everyone! Sorry to say, only one twin, John, passed. First let me say that the instructions printed said to be outside the front of the government center by 8:30 am, so we were there by 8:15. Minutes pass, and there's no one else there, so I send the twins inside to ask. They are told to go to the back of the center for the test. As I'm driving around the SIDE of the building, I see this itsy bitsy sign that says "Parking for driving test participants only". So around the building I go again, this time parking in the correct area.

John went first, then Maria. When Maria was finished, the test guy says "I need to see her again". He tells me that she went around a bicyclist on the road and went into the other lane. Another time she didn't check her blindspot properly.

While waiting for her, I spoke to the other people who had taken the test before us. None of them passed with the test guy. My nephew passed with the lady. I felt bad for Maria, and I took her out to breakfast. She'll have to wait to re-take the test. I told both of them I'm not emotional prepared to drive with them anyway.

Oh well, its one of the milestones of life. Its just hard when one passes and the other doesn't. They're not competitive with each other at all and are very supportive of each other. They have that weird twin-twin telepathy between them. I told Maria I'd take her again next time.

Now I have to play catch up and see what all my TKer friends have been up to today, I hope everything is well with everyone and today was a good one!

This thing is slow tonight. I waited a min after I hit the reply button and the reply box was still loading. I closed it and tried again.
So where is everyone tonight?
I did not know Big Brother was on tonight. Mom had told me Thurs...so I missed it. I'll have to go check the thread. I had to stay off the computer for my friend to call me. I also had to call mom and she was talking to her sister in Raleigh over an hour.
It still feels muggy. We did not get any rain here but there were storms north. I watered the hanging plant when I took out the trash.
I'm now taking my friends mom and my mom to lunch tomorrow. So much for a week with no plans.
I'll check back later....

Hello everyone!!! Thought we were suppose to get some good storms here today but nothing but a few drops of rain. So, it's still humid and hasn't cooled off much.

Been reading on the Restaurant Board that sometime in the next few days, they are suppose to announce the dining plans for next year.

Because:
1) They can't help themselves
2) They don't want to
3) They like to hear themselves talk
4) They are always right
5) They are NEVER wrong
6) They NEVER DO anything wrong
7) They like putting others down
8) They are donkey butts (family thread ;) )
9) All of the above

M&N-I think you just summed up half the people who are on the disboards. :worship: :worship:

MagiKitty- for Maria. We already know she has a great Aunt and it sounds like she has a great brother too. I know some siblings could have been really mean about the other not passing. Hopefully, when she goes next time, she gets a different person giving the test.

Big Brother is on Thurs at 8. My aunt is out of it. She told Mom it was on tonight???

Racetrack--I'm sure you could add some other adjectives to describe some of those 'other' people but we'll let it go.

MagiKitty--I know there were cops who took pride in finding reasons to flunk you. I remember the guy saying to me about taking drivers ed in school and I would get more practive there. I didn't say I was done with the driving part. :rotfl: He didn't ask me that. :rotfl: I just had problems going through the cones. I didn't go fast enough! (I bet Kyle didn't have that problem!)

I also saw the ticket prices go up in August. I guess they usually do then.

I was just reading about the ticket price increase too. They were also saying something about "restructuring" the tickets too. :confused3 I had finally had everything all figured out and now they might change everything.

I was more worried about posting that smilie than anything I might have added to the list. :rotfl:

Where are you going for lunch?

Is it a bad smilie???? I don't have kids to tell me these things...should I delete it?

My friend said her mom wasn't doing anything tomorrow and I could ask her about eating out. My mom gets her hair done on Thurs at the mall. She usually rides the bus but her neighbor said he would take her because he was going that way anyway. So I'm asking Mom#2 to go along and take mom out to eat and home so she won't have to do the bus in the heat. I think we'll go to a local place. They have corn pie on Thurs. I never had theirs but everyone says it's good. I'll also take Mom#2 to a place she likes to shop and get homemade frozen soup. She like to have that on hand to eat. She's 83. Her husband died in November. She still drives...she drove me to the mall several weeks ago and my knuckles weren't too white. :rotfl:

It's not a bad smiley. It's excited--Like Arnold Horshack(ough,ough,ough Pickme,Pickme) on Welcome Back Kotter....(dating myself here) :lmao:

Sounds like a fun day coming up. I need to take DD and myself to get our "do's rocked"(DD's term) I'm rocking some really grown-out brassy hightlights thanks to clorine.

My DM is 75 and scares the ...out of me with her driving:sad2:. She throws that Mini of hers into banked curves at top speed just for grins. I thought I had a lead foot:lmao: now I know where I got it from. In Houston driving is a survival sport:laughing:

Have fun with the ladies.

Sounds like a nice day. Never had a corn pie. But the homemade soup sounds great. I love to make a big pot of soup the first time it gets cold. Of course, our family recipe is most likely alot stranger than most people's. DH won't eat it so it's just more for me.

I just told someone off on the I'm 40 and it sucks thread! I don't like that word anyway and after seeing all the troubles in the world, turning 40 is a piece of cake. I had been thinking of turning 60 in several years and dreading it but when I really think about it...big deal. I said if 40 sucks it's because of their attutude. I may get points for that???

:lmao: Same in this house. Our first cold night, (yes, cold would be a relative term in this case:rotfl: )DH always wants Chicken and Dumplings. DD doesn't like it :scared1: I know! and she's a GRITS, so I make it for us anyways :rotfl:

I could loan them my "I'd rather be 40 than pregnant button".:goodvibes

Thanks Bopsmom---that's exactly what I thought of for it but after looking closely, I was hoping he wasn't doing something else. ;) I loved Arnold.

I'm glad my mom never drove. She thinks she always has the right of way.

Racetrack---what's so strange about your soup? I thought having a pizza with eggplant, tomatoes and feta cheese was strange but it was good.

Are there Amish in Texas? Chicken and dumplings is popular here too. Anything doughie and fattening goes. I love the wide noodles and brown butter.

I have to go check out this thread now. I'm 35 now and soon to be 36. I don't dread turning 40. It's the way you look at everything. At 40, I will be living in Florida, hopefully working part time, all my kids will be in school. Life is an adventure and every year brings a new one.

Not too many Amish:goodvibes
We have LOT's of Germans though-think spatzle. Chicken Fried Steak=Wiener schnitzel. I live very close to a big Czech community-mmmmmmm Kolaches!:goodvibes

I may have to get one of these when I turn 40. Once my dad gets married, I will be the oldest out of 6 and if my mom decides to get married to her boyfriend, I will be the oldest out of 8. I can just hear the comments now. :rotfl2:

M&N-it's technically suppose to be "vegetable" soup but the only vegetable in it are 2 heads of cabbage, 5lbs of carrots, and 3 little stalks of celery. We add 1 or 2 pieces of soup meat (the kind with the bone in the middle) along with a bunch of extra "bones" for flavor. The broth consists of water, beef broth from a can, ketchup, a can of tomato sauce and paprika. The noodles cannot be made with the vegetable part of the soup. It must be seperate. I don't know why it has to be that way, it just always has. :rotfl:

The Amish and Mennonites have a German background. Do you have sauerkraut? I have to eat pork and sauerkraut New Years--for good luck. We're from VA so I also have to have black eyed peas. My least favorite meal of the year!

I know you're not asking me but we have to have pork and sauerkraut on New Year's too. Even if we make other food for dinner, that has to be made too. Everyone needs to take at least one bite of it. And to go along with the strange stuff in my family, my Dad can only eat cold sauerkraut out of the can. :confused3

It sounds like that soup that people were eating to loose weight without the noodles. Do you put the noodles in after it's cooked or just eat the noodles with it? Mom used to have soup bones for her soup. :)

The person seemed ok with my post. :) I was a little worried after I submitted it....but why get down over something that we have no control over? Life is about the years adding up.

Nope, we eat a bowl of the "veggies" and then we eat a bowl of the plain noodles with broth and tomato sauce to flavor. When I was young, we use to go to my great-aunt's house and that's how she made it. And it got passed down. DD12 already helps me make it and it's a nice family tradition.
