I have a hard time making small talk too and I definitely do not come off as "friendly". I try though! I'm just uncomfortable and nervous and I just don't know what to do. That's why its so nice to have my TKer friends. I've found its just hard to make new friends as I've gotten older.

I'm more of a text person myself, not much for phone chit-chat, except with my honey. In terms of customer service, I have no problem talking to them, but sometimes I have a hard time understanding them! Apparently, Best Buy outsources to the Philippines and once when I was having a problem with a CSR, I switched to speaking to Tagalog (Filipino) and THEN we could understand each other just fine!

Magikitty: I'll let you know how the lunch menu is since I couldn't get in for dinner. It's actually a late lunch or lupper, 2:10p, so I figured close enough. I know the lunch menu is different from the dinner menu but I'm sure it's all good stuff.

When I called and the CM asked what time I wanted I'd say 4, 4:05, 4:10 whatever you have around that time. He usually gave me 2 or 3 times to choose from. LeCellier was the only one he didn't have a dinner time for me when I wanted it (I could have eaten at 10pm ) so asked if he had an opening for lunch. He gave me a 2p or 2:10p. 2:10p it is!

I am so not a phone person too. I only talk to 3 people on the phone and other than that, I don't use the phone at all. And that's part of the reason I use a TA for my vacation plans to Disney. The first year we used the DDP, I called myself for my ADRs and felt so flustered. Since then, I've TA's that would do the phone call for me.

We went to Williamsburg back when I was in high school and still remember going over the bridge on the way home. It's one of the main things I remember. I think my kids would love it. Oh, and I do think we ate at the restaurant on our way home.

Just checking in. Everything was fine here hardly any rain we need some. Too bad South Padre took a direct hit-we were going there Friday.
DH has to go to Corpus Christi on Friday and during the summer we tag along and spend a weekend on the beach. Oh well, maybe things will clear up fast.
DD had tennis today and it was cool and breezy, almost fall like. A nice change to the 105 index she has been playing in.

Gotta chatch up on the thread.

I have not checked any NASCAR news this week...wonder why? I thought Home Depot was going with him. I have no ideas about numbers. I thought there was one available that he would like for some reason. I never realized how important numbers were to them until Jr needed a new one.

I don't think there has been any big news anyway. I think they mentioned something about #14 for Tony....something to do with the IRL. I don't think Home Depot is going with him. I think they said something about Office Depot and maybe Burger King.

Thanks for asking. We have not gotten the results back, but the scan was not as bad as he thought. He said it was a long two hours and he said that those people really need to learn how to make a smoothie, and he wants a refund. (they give you some stuff to drink that smells good but apparently tastes terrible)

Hello---I'm back. I had a nice day shopping. We had a big storm while we were in Michaels but we just took our time. A friend called my cell while I was away. She asked where I was. She was at my house and Patrick was in his garage and I wasn't answering the door. She knows I don't unless I know who it is and she was yelling--it's me. She called the house phone and I didn't answer. So she called the cell. She was worried I was in the house and something was wrong. If I hadn't answered she was calling my mom and asking where I was and going to her house and get my house key and calling 911. I said 'great-now you need to know my schedule too!' She was one of my library aides---for 20 years---and we are good friends. She took care of my house when I was gone to FL for a month. I called her when I got home and we went out to eat...I thanked her for checking up on me and told her Patrick would be home alone tomorrow too. I'm going to Baltimore to the baseball game. She said as long as she knew, it was ok!

Whgrn: I want pics of guys in kilts in front of their castle. I cannot promise not to be chatty...You know how Racetrack can be some nights. Will you be able to post about your trip?

Now THAT is a true friend! My BFF would do the same thing! Of course, that won't happen, because she's always "in the know" when I'm away!

I will do a daily blog of my trip (link is in my siggie). I won't get to post every day, since I won't always have internet access, but when I do, I'll zap it on! I'll have to wait to add the photos when I get home though.

whgrn...congrats on the new shorts size. Your trip is just hours away! Sorry to hear about your dad. My father was on dialysis for a year while the rest of us were tested to be donors. My oldest brother, younger sister, and I were all potential matches, but my brother and I were less desirable because of exposure (we're both in the medical field), so my sister was chosen. She was only 20 at the time and had to undergo lots of psych evaluations, but thankfully everything worked out great. I'm adding your Dad to my prayer list. Please let me know if I can help you at all.

Thanks! My DSis was tested and hoped to be a match, but she has borderline hypertension, and also insulin resistance, so they said she might need both her kidneys in the future. So we wait. No dialysis yet--he'll hold off as long as he can.

It's such a beautiful day here. Mid 70's, low humidity, sunny with a slight breeze. It couldn't get more perfect than this. I'm going to do some more decluttering later and then take the kids and pup for a nice long walk. We have to start getting ready for all the walking in Disney.

Temps here have been in the low nineties with T-storms in the pm. It increases the humidity, I don't know how you all can tolerate high humidity because I know our "high" humidity is still way below that of the SE.
I'm also one with social anxiety and really hate to use the phone. I wouldn't even have one but I must stay in contact with my mom. The DIS was my first discussion forum that I joined. Before I met you all I didn't talk with anyone.

Eastern NH just had a really nasty storm go through. Our local weather service had a tornado warning for over there. News is just coming in that there is a lot of damage. Epsom, NH has a house that has collasped! There maybe people trapped inside but not sure. Lots of towns have damage. People are trapped in their cars due to downed powerlines. There is another building collaspe being reported in Barnstead, NH.

The storm is heading into Maine.

Whew! Caught up a little. I didn't bother multi-quoting though, b/c I knew I'd never have time to reply to everybody by the time I finished reading. (Very short lunch today, it's "Christmas in July" in the studio here starting tonight and running all thru tomorrow, so most of our sets have to be completely re-propped and re-lit for our one day Christmas adventure.)

But, I'll rattle off a few things...

We had nasty storms here the last few nights, but we only lost power for a few minutes, and not a lot of tree debris (knock wood) so I can't complain.

I thought I had heard Home Depot was following Tony too... but that was a few weeks ago... I hadn't thought about the number change. For me, it would be more confusing to not see that bright orange car w/ Tony in it though.

Hope everyone's respective kidneys are doing o.k.... whoever's body they happen to be in! But, seriously, luck to those who have family waiting. That must be so stressful.

Its so funny that we have so many people who claim to be introverts on this thread!! I'm definitely no social butterfly myself, and talking on the phone to CS reps or arguing bills, etc. makes me so nervous. But yet, I'll go on and on (and on and on and on and on ) here. Can you imagine if we exhibited those anxieties on the DIS board?

BTW - Good for you Pikester for trying to get better about it for your kids. Its amazing the strength we can find for our loved ones when we can't find it for ourselves.

I do have a question though, since so many of us are dealing with these issues, can we claim that our time on DIS is medically necessary therapy? Seems like we could claim something for insurance then... or at least get more time online guilt free!

The weather has just gone CRAZY!!!!

Laura's new furniture is being delivered as I write this! I can't wait to see how it all looks in there! I'll take some pix when it's all put back together! She is going to be SO surprised. I had 2 notes from her at camp today. She says camp is wonderful and she's having a great time! I am SOOOOO glad! I get to call her tomorrow at lunch time, and I can't wait to talk to her. It's amazing--as much as they drive me nuts, I'm already missing them terribly after just 4 days!

Interesting to read that so many of you have issues with social anxiety. Add me to that list! When I was heavier, I had NO confidence, and honestly felt like I never fit in anywhere. I'm alot better now that I'm smaller, but the old feelings still get stirred up. I don't have alot of friends, just a couple, and my dear BFF who I would just DIE without! I guess I don't make new friends easily. But on here it's just different!

Laura's furniture is GORGEOUS!!! OMG her room looks totally different!!! Which makes sense--her "old" room was purple stripes, pink on top, Hello Kitty, and white furniture with pink trim. VERY little girl room. Her "new" room is celery green with a similar color rug, mahogany furniture, and bedding in a green, pink & white design. I also ordered her a really cool chair that can unfold to make a lounger. It's pink--the green one would have been toooo much green! I got her a message center in pinks and greens, and a green digital alarm clock. She is gonna PLOTZ when she sees it all put together when she gets back from camp!!

Well, time to go pack, I've played long enough...

Hello everyone!!! Weather was beautiful today. I was able to be outside with the kids without the normal "Mom, I'm hooooot!" Or "I'm thiiirrssty!" Didn't do anything special except play in the backyard. But it sure was nice not to have to make 10 trips into the house.

Pikester-That picture is just terrible. We had the storms the other night but nothing that bad. Just a few downed power lines. Praying for all those affected up by you.

whgrn-That room sounds so pretty. You'll have to let us know how she likes it.
