I like your thinking! :thumbsup2 I'm going to use that line of logic with DH if you don't mind.

Kids are at Day Camp again tomorrow. It's so wonderful being able to watch my soaps while it's nice and quiet. Not to mention being able to just go out, get in the van and go when I have to run an errand.

Have a good night! It's time to hit the hay.

Pikester: I vote for the new set. It'll go with anything and work when he is older. Those colors won't show dirt either. I don't think that's too much money either. That stuff is expensive. We were looking for something for Mom's guest room and it was awful for a bed that gets used 2 a year. Enjoy another kidless day.

Racetrack: I guess I'm over the Disney Princess age too but you can't help but love them. But I'll never be over the Mickey age. I have him on my desk.

Lighttech: The big boy room sounds like he'll be using his imagination in there. Does he have any stories about the stars? I used to have a Curious George one but think it's not in print anymore.

A friend's daughter is getting married in Las Vegas in Aug. Her future husband is in the service there. I'm going to a shower on Sat. They asked for monetary gifts. I'm wondering what to do. How about a gift card for Penneys or Sears? Any other suggestions? I wanted something for her to open and thought of a nightie set but her mom got her one. She's flying out and really has no room to take much. He will go overseas in Nov but she's going to stay there.

Hey M&N!!! How's it going?

I'll never be over Mickey either. I usually won't have my picture taken with any of the characters in Disney but I always have to have my picture with Mickey. I like almost all the characters but the Fab 5 are my favorites.

And I still have my Mickey wreath that DD12 made for me hanging on the wall next to the computer. Just can't put it away. :rotfl:

How about just a Visa gift card? She could use before she goes or even out in Vegas if she needs.

From funniest comments you've overheard at WDW:
Leaving Minnie's house in Toontown, I heard
Daughter: "Mom, how come Minnie doesn't have a bedroom her house?"
Mom: "She sleeps over at Mickey's, but it's a secret so don't tell anyone."

Thought it was so cute!

I have my Mickey Hallmark ornaments on my desk all the time. Who's going to complain?

I love reading those kinds of threads on here. Mostly they're funny, cute and happy. So much better than the usual complaining threads that you see too often.

Yeah, picking Tony. And Harvick. In the fantasy racing we do, you have to pick guys from 3 different tiers each week. 2 from the top tier, 4 from the middle tier, and 2 from the 3rd tier and all before qualifying. After qualifying, you pick from you guys, 1 from the 1st, 2 from the 2nd, and 1 from the 3rd. You can only use each guy 9 times for the whole season. That's hard when a driver is on a winning streak. (Any driver, not just KB :lmao: ) And those guys in the 3rd group are not anyone I would pick to win a race unless most of the other drivers wrecked out. :rotfl2:

Does it cost to get a VISA gift card? Where can you get one?

Do you get points for your picks according to where they finish? Give me an example of a 2nd tier guy.

We get the Visa gift cards from our bank. They are free for us and come in denominations of 25, 50, 100 and maybe higher (never went higher than that yet).

We get points for where they finish, bonus points for leading a lap, most laps led and top 4 starting positions.

Tier 2 guys include KB, Jr, and Kahne all the way down to Robby Gordon, JJ Yeley, and Montoya. And tier 1 basically has most of the Chase guys from last year.

The tier system makes sense then by using rankings from last year. I caught a part of a show about Jr's racing this year. I guess it's a series to follow him this year with his new team.

I guess the VISA would make sense. I did check about JCP and Sears there but I really don't know what area they will be in.

Hi friends.:hippie:
Just checking in to let you know I'm still alive.
No time to catch up yet.
Remember the house we bought and fixed up?
We have a contract on it and are hoping to close in a week.
My DS is so excited.
This is what he wants to do so we are helping him get started.

Had an interesting night tonight.
We got hit with a STRONG storm. Hail, wind, rain, lightening.
I was calling my dogs in and it was so loud they couldn't hear me.
Finally the beagle - Scrappy - heard me and came inside.
We couldn't find our other dog - Bubbles - a husky, beagle mix.
We finally found her - poor thing - scared half to death hiding up against the basement wall.
Let her inside through the basement and was walking her up through the house to our garage.
She panicked and took off with me holding on to her.
I came down HARD on my left knee. I started crying it hurt so bad.
Couldn't move it for about 30 min.
I can move it now but it's very tender.
I'm probably going to have one huge bruise there tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well.
I'll try and catch up a little at a time.

:yay: Hey Shmu. You don't need to catch up-just check in. Take it easy with that knee...should you put ice on it? I bet it'll be stiff tomorrow. Poor doggies. We are to get thunderstorms tomorrow--inch of rain.

My eyes are getting heavy. I'm going out to lunch and running around tomorrow. My friend needs to 'run away" from everyone she said.

Night...

I used the Visa gift card when DD12 went to Disney this year. She could have used it for wherever. I might even get a couple for when we go in November.

Congrats on the house. :woohoo: Forgive me for asking, but did DS get right in there with the "dirty work" too? My DH has done roofing/contruction/home renovations since he was a teen and this kind of stuff interests me. Renovating houses is something we've talked about down the line.

Sorry to hear about your fall. Make sure you put some ice on it and take it easy. And your poor pup. I know mine is scared of any kind of loud noises.

Thanks.
Yes, he actually did.
Our other business is an electrical contracting business so we are in the construction trade also.
DS has picked up a lot of skills working with DH.
I still pinch myself to think we actually have done our first house.
It's something we have talked about for a while too.
In today's market just make sure you buy at a bargain and sell at a bargain.

I'm going to have to check out racetrack.
It's 12 midnight here and I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.
My knee is starting to throb.
Going to go prop it up in bed.
Wish I could stay and chat more since we are both actually logged on at the same time.
We'll have to do this again.

Have a good night.:hippie:

Night M&N!!! Have fun "running away" tomorrow with your friend. Come back and visit soon. :lmao:

Night Shmu!!! DH's whole family is in the contructions biz and my dad used to be an electrician. I'm trying to catch you in the morning but haven't quite gotten there yet. Will soon since my summer vacation is almost over too. :rotfl:

Morning everyone! Hey Shmu, nice to see you again. Congrats on the house! I hope everything works out smoothly. Ouch about the accident. Hope that's feeling better today too. I have a GINORMOUS rottie mix who practically runs over me every day. He just has to be first. I've tried breaking him of this habit, but honestly he's not that smart, so I've just learned to get out of the way.

I think the Visa is a great idea for the shower. I've never gotten one from the bank, but I have purchased those at the grocery store. There is a small fee, but they make great last minute gifts! Not too long ago, American Express has a promo if you buy two GCs you got one free, but I don't know if that promo is still good....

My favorite has been Beauty and the Beast, although you couldn't tell from my desk. Its all Star Wars. I have this glow in the dark Obi-Wan that totally rocks, and my Yoda with his Santa hat.

Its been raining since last night. Its nice and cool though. I saw Dolly is now a hurricane. Everyone keep safe and dry, try not to get injured and have a good day!
