I see we weren't too chatty today. Where is everyone? Having fun I hope.

D&DDisney-that is one awesome tank cake. I wish I could do that but if you keep posting the great pics, I may have to ask how to make one.

lighttech-still keeping my fingers crossed for your visit to the daycare. Thanks for the comments about DD's trip. I'm not too worried but it's still there in the back of my mind. We still have a couple of weeks to go over everything. Tonight we started going over the "what ifs". They do have to meet up quite a few times during the day. I know in my head she will be fine.

Just got done watching Sweeney Todd. Really wanted to go see it in the theater but way too hard finding a babysitter. Anyways, I thought it was a great movie if you like musicals. Poor DH fell asleep...just not his thing. Of course, I like Johnny Depp too so that made it good just on that point. :cloud9: It's very adult though. Funny thing though, I read the book that is suppose to be based on the movie. It has the movie poster and all on the cover. But the book was nothing like the movie. The entire plot was different. Different enough that you can't even compare them. Oh well. still thought the movie was good.

Night all

'Night Dreamin!!

(Just popped on real quick to see if I'd missed any excitement before bed...)

Good night lighttech!

Good night Dreamin!

Morning all, well I signed on last night and got interrupted and I think my green light was on all night. So once again I will play catch up.

disney54us-I suppose they list all that stuff about what you will hear when you call for dining for people who have never done it before. I guess it would help them. I think they even talk about synchronizing your clock with disney's so you can get through right at 7am. Still sounds too complicated for me.

Well, tonight is the big parents meeting for DD12 Disney trip. They are going to go over all the rules, schedule, extra activities, etc. They are also going to do the emergency contact papers. Thankfully, DH's brother lives in Tampa so he one of the emergency contacts. That's what I worry about the most... something happening and we are so far away. I know in my head that's its highly unlikely that anything will happen but you know how it is. You still worry. I'm just thankful that there will be someone closer to her just in case.

Gotta run...time to pick up DD from school.

Far to complicated, I know some places are more popular then others, but synchronizing your clocks so you can call 7am dis time:confused3, think that a bit much IMHO.
Wew, this is all so exciting and a little scary too. DD is so lucky and what a trip, it should put you at ease that DBil lives in tampa. That would be one of my fears, the what if and I'm so far.

Good afternoon, friends. Beautifully sunny, terribly cold. Grounds still too hard and cold to worry about creatures. I've never even heard of a vole! The dis just teaches me more and more each day.

I got my Passporter last year, but its the 2006 version. (got it off that dang-old Budget Board). I paid $1 for it, free shipping. Its far too bulky for me to carry around in the parks, but its nice to have most information on hand. Still fantasizing about free dining, I had no idea there were so many restaurants on property! I never even thought of eating at the resorts, but after some of the descriptions and recommendations, I'll be looking into it (at least I hope to). I'm a big note writer, and getting all this info off the Net was just too much for me. At least I have a basic database. Would I pay every year for a new updated Passporter? No. But for a dollar, it was well worth it!

Parents meeting for field trip! You're lucky to have a emergency contact so close. I exchanged to France in high school, and of course I never though about what would happen if...all I knew is that I was going away with friends! Of course you're going to worry a bit, you're a parent. But think just how much fun its going to be for DD!

Oh, man who bakes. I can imagine a tower of frosted cupcakes awaiting me when I get home, a man in an apron doing the dishes. Aaah. Wow. What a catch. And looking like Beaker is a plus for me...you know I like redheads! Congrats on finding the perfect hire!

Vole what is a Vole??? I went to France in HS too. Have to say considering we were 15-17 and in another country, looking back they should have chaperoned better. Way to much 'on your on time', we really could have had some problems. Well we all made it back and are here to talk about it, but would I let my DD do one of those trips no way:laughing:.

M&N...I'm with you. I'm living amongst piles. I move piles for my other piles. Its never ending. All the good intentioned "donation", things to do/read/organize "later", and that stubborn laundry pile that never seems to go away! I've made my peace with my random lifestyle, its not dirty, just personally arranged. I alway say that God forbid someone broke into my house, he'd never find anything worthwhile to take, coz goodness knows my system only makes sense to me!

I quoted in between a quoted again, gosh I hate when I do that:scared1:.
:lmao: :rotfl2:, I love it "just personally arranged":rotfl2:

OHHHHH I forgot!!!! I got a promotion from Sr. Buyer to Purchasing Manager!!!! I was already doing most of the duties anyway as Sr. Buyer but now I have a "manager" title and personell issues to deal with too. Timesheets, people calling in sick etc....but I got a raise!!!!!! Yay me!!! :cheer2:

 :cool1: :cheer2: Congrat's Miss Purchasing Manager!!!! Way to go!!:woohoo:

Hey TKers!!!

Went to our big parents meeting tonight. Took almost 1 1/2 hours and besides a few details for the trip, I could have taught them a few things. :rotfl: But anyways, they are going to get to do a 3 hour animation program down there. DD really loves drawing so this is right up her alley. They are spending 4 days at the parks and then 2 days at DTD. The only thing I was surprised about is they will not be chaperoned every minute of the day. They will all have to be in the same park but they will be allowed to pair up and venture off on their own. But they will not have their park tickets and they will have every chaperones personal cell number so I guess I have to accept that. I trust DD completely but for the next couple of weeks, am I going to be drilling her on every single thing she might encounter down there. And I found out they are pretty strict with behavior. One of the kids last year was setting a bad example of our school and they made him spend an entire day in the hotel room. So, I guess I shouldn't worry. I hope.

Of course you'll still worry, your a mom it's in your job description:goodvibes. Amination class sounds like a great experience! It seems they have most covered and expect certain behavior, so that is good. Remember to tell your DD that their are many CM's in the park that are dressed just like us, keeping a watch on everyone. So if anything happened or if she was feeling uncomfortable tell her to be loud and verbal. They come out of the woodwork, and that's a good thing:thumbsup2.

I think you can buy it at some grocery stores and cooking stores... not sure though, I'll have to look it up. (Its used to make peppermint candy and stuff.)
LOVE that quote!!

So excited for DD. Try not to worry. I'm sure she's been brought up to know how to take care of herself, and you'll have her prepared w/ details. And, it IS disney... not that there aren't dangerous people everywhere, but Disney seems very well equipped to deal w/ the situations. Having the chaperones cell numbers is great too.
We did a school Disney trip when I was in high school (I was a little older, 15, I think) but we had the same rules... certain things together, (we did a music class instead of animation) and the rest on our own w/ morning and evening check ins on the bus. Everyone made it home safe and sound if that helps.

Ooooo... Hershey!! I love that place and can't wait to go... even if I won't be able to ride any rides this year! I grew up going there, and it just feels so "homey" to me.

GREAT CAKE!!!

And, thanks for the well wishes everybody... I'll let you all know how it goes after next Friday's visit.

Gotta run... just stealing a minute. Take care everyone!

Peppermint oil, Health food stores also is another place to try!
Hi lighttech, great news on the preschool:banana:, see it will all fall into place.

I see we weren't too chatty today. Where is everyone? Having fun I hope.

Thank goodness, or I wouldn't be able to catch up:laughing:.
D&D, ditto that cake is great!!!! What did you use for the 'sand' around the cupcakes????

Good morning everyone!

Nothing much to say, just got to work, and checking in before I punch my clock. (As in start work... not literally punch a clock... :confused3 )

Have any of you guys put up a swingset for the kiddies before?

We're looking into getting one for DS for his birthday this year, but we need to level out the ground in our front yard, and then I need to decide whether or not to put mulch down and what to put down.

I could use any advice or tips... DH tends to go "full steam ahead" w/o much planning. So, I took care of finding the swingset and figured out where it should probably go, but I want to look into leveling that area of the yard (buying dirt???) and what kind of ground cover to use.

Thanks!

Hi everyone!
D&DDisney great cake!
I've been busy doing my pre-vacation house cleaning. I like to come home to a clean house. :upsidedow :p

Lucky DS. How long till his birthday? Can't help you much with the leveling of the ground. For the ground cover, and I don't know how much you are looking to spend, have you checked out the rubber mulch? http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com/rubberific-rubber-mulch-1-cuft-p-77857.html I've been to large playgrounds covered with it and it's soft and squishy but still looks nice.

Not much going on here but more spring cleaning. Trying to work on my room now. It seems like everything that can't fit in the kids rooms ends up in my room. :confused3 Later everyone.

DL55-I love pre-vacation cleaning. It's the only kind of cleaning I like since it means it's finally time to go on vacation. :lmao:

Evening everyone. Woke up yesterday to yet another 1/2 inch of slushy snow on the ground. It was gone by mid-afternoon, but boy can it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

My landline is out! Just got off the phone with Verizon, it seems to be something that they can repair, but I have to wait until Monday. Fortunately, I spoke to a kindly, knowledgeable staff person and she was able to forward all my calls to my cell (I never learned how to do that). I thought my DSL was out (it does come out of the phone jack), but as you can tell, computer is still running fine. Thank goodness! If the Visa free dining offer does come out on Monday as rumoured, and my DSL was down--I'd be really really not happy!

D&D..you weren't kidding about that cake! Its amazing--Great job! :thumbsup2

dreamin...sounds like a fantastic trip. And the animation tour sounds so cool--I like that animation history exhibit they have in MGM. If its anything like that, it will be quite special. Just tell your daughter to choose her partner for the day carefully, to enjoy herself, and to remember that she can always call home. Get her one of the battery operated cell phone chargers, they're like $6 and work perfectly in a pinch. Wish her good tidings on her trip from me!

dl55....so close to your trip! I'm so jealous of you! Have you worked out all the golfing issues? Seems like you'll have great weather down there. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy....

disney54...just wanted to say a quick "hi!"

lighttech...sorry I can't offer help on the swingset setup except to go to Home Depot and ask their opinion. I know nothing about home-type stuff, and I've had to outsource for opinions at the HD plenty of times.

Ok all, off to dinner! Have a good night and an even better rest of the weekend!

Hey everyone. Looks like everyone has logged off already, but I wanted to say hi!!! :goodvibes Wow, thank you guys for all your congrats and well wishes. I am a little nervous, but I think I will be okay.

I bet she will do great. I now how you feel though, I would be nervous too. When I was in 6th grade we went on a big class trip to Busch Gardens and got to break off in pairs. I remember my Mom being a nervous wreck, but I was fine. She is going to have so much fun!!!! So glad you guys found a bag.

It sounds like lots of fun. The animation program sounds like something the kids would enjoy. Are there a lot who have never gone? I didn't go until I was 51. She'll know the ropes too. Does she have her own cell phone? Make sure she has a recharger. Mine seems to be low when I need it. I really do not use it a lot and I guess it goes down on its own. Ask her what she thinks problems could be and what she should do about them. And you should not worry but probably will---at least a little. That's what mom's do. :flower3:

Wow, that is awesome advise!!! I know who to come to now ha ha.

The part in bold....thank you, thank you. :flower3: I didn't even think of that. That is such a great idea. Yes, a couple of the kids have been before including the one girl she has really becomes friends with. So that's good that she'll have someone to hang with that knows the parks too. She has a cell phone too and she is always good about keeping it charged at home. They are required to call home every night too. So, it will all be fine. I was just surprised.
I forgot why I multi quoted this ha ha ha ha. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Another dreary day in PA. At least we're not having the flooding others are.
I hope it'll be sunny for HersheyPark on Sunday. It's called springtime in Hershey. Only 1 show and the water part won't be open but at least I'll get some walking in. Hope everyone has a calm and healthy weekend.pixiedust:

Have fun tomorrow!!!

pepperw23Congrats on your promotion!:Pinkbounc :dance3:

Thank you!!!

Good Morning all!!!
Looks like lots of good news today.
Y -M-C-A option = Yeah!
Congrats on the promotion Pepper

Finally got around to downloading the party pics. Here is Nick and his army cake

Next, my DS5 will be celebrating his birthday at the end of the month so I have to go start planning for another cake and party.

Hope the weather clears up for some of you. :sunny: We finally have sun and its near 50 today. It's also Opening Day for baseball and it finally feels like spring.

OMG he is adorable!!!!!! awesome cake. Can't wait to see pics of DS5's cake.

You have to be kidding. Wow, it has to start warming up soon!! At least you know that the end is near and pretty soon everyone will be hot and sipping iced tea.

Hope everyone has a great night!!!!!!!!

snow again! :scared1: I would be going crazy. And along with the fact that you thought your internet might be out. What a way to start the day. At least you got good customer service this time. Yeah, I think the program they are doing is like animation thing they have in the park except much more involved (this is 3 hours long). They are also going to see La Nouba and then they get to have a behind the scenes program on that and meet some of the performers. That sounds cool too. A battery operated cell phone charger is a good idea since I know that they're schedule is pretty packed and they will be getting back to the hotel very late some nights. It would be very easy for me to forget to charge it so she might do the same thing. I'll make sure to pick one of those up before she leaves.

I just want to thank all of you for giving me such good ideas for this trip. And for being so supportive in what is a totally new experience for me. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!:grouphug:

Hey Killers, oh gosh so much to say and I'm not sure if I have the energy:sad2:. I have a couple of venting issues, but they would most likely take to long. Want to play catch up and tomorrow, is busy Sr.'s 50th Juliblee is tomorrow a 3:00 mass to honor her she has many of the kids in her class participating so DS has to be there at 2:20, then a 'private' celebration dinner, which DH and I were invited to ( I was on the marketing committee which she was in charge of), so she wanted all her 'marketing people' there. So I'll be back and catch up and may still need to vent:sad2:.

disney54us-take a few deep breaths and get some rest. come back tomorrow and we'll all be here to listen.

Good gloomy morning dear friends. Hope everyone has plans for this wonderful day.

disney54us...we're all here. Vent away. Hope we can help ease your mind a bit. Go on. But it sounds like you have a very busy Sunday planned, so we'll wait until you have a minute to share.

disney54us:hug: we'll be here.
dreamin in pa your DD will have a wonderful time :thumbsup2
I just ruined my brand new comforter. It got caught in the washer and started to burn and now has a rip. I should know better than to buy anything decent. DH got it dirty within a month of putting it on the bed. I think I'll stick with the yard sale theme: nothing matching and ugly.

Wait, I have that theme too. :rotfl: Except with us it's the 4 kids who mess everything up. DH keeps wanting to get nice, new furniture. No way! I could just hear him flippin if something got spilled on that. Right now, if they spill something, no stress. Just clean it up and know that someday we will have nice new furniture. But that does stink about the new comforter. I read a few days ago that they did some kind of study and determined that men create 7 more hours of housework per week for women. You know, I believe it. :rotfl2:

Thanks, I feel better now. :) I think my DH makes even more! Except for hair the dog and 2 cats make less of a mess.
