Pie Crust

2 sticks butter cold
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
1/4 cup ice cold water (from the fridge)

put butter in kitchenaid
pulse a few times to break up a little

add flour, salt, and sugar.

pulse a few times, then put on speed 3 or 4 for a couple of minutes until you see pieces no bigger than a pea. if you see even a few that are still a little bigger, keep mixing until they are small.

while mixing, add cold water. after a few turns, the dough will come together. stop and remove.

make into a ball, and cut in half. roll out bottom crust with one half.
put in pie pan. trim excess.

add excess dough to other half of dough, and roll out the top.
Heading to the kitchen now to make an apple pie and Clam Chowder.(DH favorite) I'll let ya know how it goes.:woohoo:

can't wait to hear how it goes!

now you have to share the recipe for clam chowder! do you call it chowda, in GA?!

Ooh, chowder. Manhattan or New England? I'm so suggestible. Preparing tuna pasta salad for tomorrow (still Catholic). But chowder sounds so much better.

Magsnden...thank you so much. I definitely want my own kids, despite my fears. BF has come around to it, at least the idea of it. He's not so keen about my mother moving in once there's a baby on the way. She's dying for a baby and nothing is going to keep her from her grandbaby! Tick, tick, I hear? Oh goodness.

OMG, magsden is GORGEOUS!!!! You've been holding out on us, girl! Another TKer who looks NOTHING like I imagined...

Glad I ate before I got on...chowder and apple pie. YUM!

Magsnden---How was the party? Don't worry about a little red nose...as long as nothing is coming out of the mouth or butt, I wouldn't worry. :lmao: I love DD's expression patiently waiting for the hair to get done.

Magikitty---Great gifts. If you cannot treat yourself good, how can you expect others to?

BTW---I'm not sure ovaries is a good topic for V Day! :rotfl:

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Can you smell the pie and Chowda?
Can't read everything yet. Just wanted to torture everyone.:rolleyes1
I'll come back later with pics.:hippie:
Waiting for DH to get out of shower and then we are eating.:woohoo:

Shmu, you are just CRUEL!!!:lmao:

Not to mention that you're making me HUNGRY!!! Actually, we had tacos tonite and they were great, even though I really missed the cheese...

You killers crack me up!:rotfl:

Magikitty - make room on the couch, I'm coming over to watch Jane Austen with you!

magsnden - your kids are just beautiful and so are you!

I hope everyone had a great day!

Started composing my TR in my head while I was in the shower tonight. That's where I do my best thinking.

See you tomorrow!

good morning everyone!

hope you all had a nice valentine's day! btw, it was kinda making me laugh yesterday when everyone was writing VD. i know i'm just a child.

can't wait to hear how the pie turned out, shmu. and you must give us the recipe for the chowda!

ok, be back later. too early today.....:surfweb:

btw, thanks everybody for the nice comments on me and the kids. it's really sweet of you all. isn't it funny how we picture people to look differently! so funny.

magikitty, can you share your tuna pasta salad, too? i used to make it yummy but i lost something along the way, and i know my family will love it, and it is friday. and try as i might, i ALWAYS forget that it's friday. thanks!

Morning everyone! How did everyone's Valentine work out? (I giggled at VD too). It was a beautiful day and I think everyone was feeling the love, not just romantic love, but goodwill all over. But sadly, there was that horrible shooting at that college in Illinois. I can't even imagine the shock and pain so many people are going through today. Prayers to them.

Oh, magsnden, I do not follow any sort of recipe for my tuna pasta salad. Its actually more of a "clean the cupboards" kinda thing. Whatever pasta I have, although I usually use multicolor spiral coz they're pretty. Drained tuna, onion, relish, mayo and mustard. If on hand, I add peas or crushed pineapple. (Filipinos add pineapple to everything). Salt, pepper, and chili powder for some kick. No measurements here, just throw it in and hope for the best. I've been quite lucky with it. It really depends on personal taste.

AUdisfan...have you caught the BBC Jane Austen marathon on PBS this past month? I've missed every single one so far, which prompted me to buy the set. It has a different Pride and Prejudice---I have my reservations considering that Colin Firth has ruined Mr. Darcy for me forever. The set should arrive soon--Barnes and Noble has free express delivery. I can't wait! Let me know if you'd be interested in them...I have some :wizard: that I may be able to throw your way. Anything for a fellow Jane fan.

If the set doesn't arrive soon, going to OD on Jane anyway by renting the Jane Austen Book Club and Becoming Jane. Anyone use Redbox? :3dglasses Its quite possibly the most incredible thing ever. Google Redbox codes for free rentals! Going to sneak out later and get them!

While I'm out, I'm looking for New England clam chowder too. I've been fantasizing about it since last night. BF wonders where I get these ideas from. Hmmm...where?

M&N...I saw you on the "other" TK on the Budget Board--don't you think they should just come here? But they're making their own friendships too. TKing is universal.

ok, so i'll definitely post the recipe for the crust, and i am not kidding, it is sooooo easy, and yummy.
I agree. Very easy and yummy.:thumbsup2
ok, shmu, tell me how your apple pie comes out! i think you should post a picture of it on your pre trip report!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: it's the only chance i have of being famous!
Heading to my PTR next.:thumbsup2
The only thing I can do with apple pies is eat them.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Maybe you should've flashed 'em anyway! :lmao: Can you imagine Disney's reaction to that! :scared1:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

magsnden- LOVE the pics of your kids and of you. Beautiful.

Ooh, chowder. Manhattan or New England?
I still get them confused but it's the creamy kind.
Shmu, you are just CRUEL!!!:lmao:

I was laughing too at VD. Guess I'm childish with ya.

The recipe for the chowda is from Rachel Ray. I was going to type it up but then found it already typed up on the web. Here is the link.

The pie turned out great. It fell a little but tasted wonderful.

BYW, thanks for all the weather information. DS Karate instructor ended up canceling trip for other reasons.

shmu, the pie looks delicious!

did you vent it with a heart shape? i love that!!! great idea!

interesting that yours fell, mine did too. i figured i didn't put enough apples in. but still yummy! did your husband like it? thanks for the recipe for the chowder. i love rachel ray and i use a lot of her recipes. in fact DH gave me her new book for VD. (he he he!)

glad your DS canceled his trip, i did hear maybe sat or sunday night another storm is coming. but that's up here in NY.

Just a quick type by...

Do you trust Photobucket? I was looking on their site but was leery of putting any pics out there and registering. :scared:

I haven't had any issues so far, and so many people on here use them that I decided to give it a go.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Ohhh.... sooooo.... huuuunnnggrryyy. And, now that I finished reading you've gone and posted that pic of the pie too. Not fair. There's still 2 more hours to lunch, and I'm pretty sure our cafeteria doesn't sell homemade apple pie!

Talk to y'all later.

DH LOVED it. So did my DS. DD does not like apple pie, but she had chocolates. (Pic in my PTR)

I love Rachel Ray too.

YA'LL TYPE LOUDER!
MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING FROM THE CONCERT AND 20,000 SCREAMING GIRLS!

Morning TKr's!:goodvibes

Magsnden - I haven't tried the Vicks, but here's the ones we use. They really keep DS from sniffling all night.

The other thing I do that seems to help is, I have some pure shea butter that I use on my knuckles in the winter (I have a lot of trouble w/ drying and cracking all winter long.) Its expensive, but since its pure shea, it has no alcohol or fragrances that can sting when there's little cuts. I smear it around DSs little nose after cleaning him up. Its kind of like chapstick for his sniffer. Keeps the moisture off, and protects against all the running, rubbing and wiping.

BTW - The little ones are SO adorable!!! So true that you can never get the perfect photo op, but those are pretty darn good!

Good morning Tkers!

GOOD MORNING BOPSMOM!:rotfl:

Hope everyone is doing well today. All this food talk is making me hungry and making me want to cook something yummy.

Shmu, your pie looks delicious and your little heart is so cute. I made DH a "Fabulous peanut butter and chocolate pie". It was pretty dang good but verrrrry rich.

Magikitty - No, I haven't seen the Jane stuff they've been running on PBS, but now I'll look for it. THanks for the heads up. Mmmmmm...Colin Firth. I always love :wizard: tossed my way, so bring it on.:)

My friend and I are taking our 4 yr olds to the AU gynastics meet tonight. Not quite as exciting as Bopsmom's concert, but hopefully fun anyway. The meet is against UGA, so I'll think of you Shmu!

Later killers!

Have a great day!

magsnden what adorable children. I want to hug them.
Bopsmom glad you survived the concert.

I thought I was the only one that chuckled at the VD abbreviation. :lmao:

thanks everyone, again, for the kind words about the kids. i must agree with all of you, they are cute and beautiful, but then, i'm really biased.

just wanted to share this cute moment from yesterday. DH was coming home a little late last night. i had my dad and brother over and we were all eating when DH walks in. he brought me flowers which was very sweet, BUT the sweetest part was he brought maggie her own very first flowers! it was so cute! she was amazed and so happy. i just kept saying, "i can't believe you have your very own flowers." and of course my dad and brother were saying the same. so she wanted to have them up in her room with her. she just felt so special, and i was so happy for her!

i know it's probably a little corny! but i'm glad it was her dad who gave her flowers for the first time.

now, back to business. audisfan - please share that pb and chocolate pie with us! oh, and can't wait for your TR!! woohoo!

lighttech - thanks for the info. i'm definitely going to look into it. my son just seems to be one of those phlegmy kids if you know what i mean. so he gets sick a lot more than my daughter ever did, even now.

bopsmom - great to hear from you again! you had fun at the concert, huh? can you hear me? i forget who it was. don't tell me it was hannah!
