Just checking in and giving us a little bump up. Got to go get some work done today so I'll be back later. Have a great day everyone. :goodvibes

Been trying to get back on here forever but the computer was not co-operating. :badpc: Really trying to keep us close to the 1st page.

Austin by Blake Shelton is a really great sappy love song. My favorite kind of song. :goodvibes Here's a video link if anybody is interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGn3bMgFC2Y

I was able to change my signature and add the mardi gras mask. I also found a little "mardi gras" sign. Gotta keep up with the "holidays". And I finally made a new ticker since our vacation dates are official. Only 10 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days. Boy that seems so far away.

Love the mask!!! and I want to do a ticker, how do you do that:confused3
the turkey is so cute:goodvibes. Ah, computers aren't they great? they do seem to have a mind of there own:headache:.
We should be hearing from magikitty today:yay:, I'll check in later really should try to get some things done:guilty:. DS b-day is tomorrow and he has half day today, doesn't leave me much time:rotfl:.

Hi everyone
Just stopping by to see how you all are adjusting to the new home on the CB.

Just cause your no longer on a board I moderate
feel free to PM me if I can help you all out with anything
or just to say HI:)

hi, Kayla:wave2: It's tough to get use to and see another reason to miss our old home, We lost a great Mod!!:goodvibes

:yay: Hey guys! It's been a while since I've posted on this thread, but I'm glad I found you all again. Seriously, I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but I will say "I told you so" -- earlier in this thread I mentioned that we might get moved to the CB -- & here we are. That's a good thing, though. It shows how popular this thread is. BTW, where is Magikitty? :confused3

I did mention weight loss and walking. OK, no congrats yet. I have to actually DO those things!! I just decided that, if I'm gonna be around hot guys in kilts, I should be as hot as possible! Yeah, like THAT's gonna happen anytime....I'm an overweight, middle aged single mom with arthritis. How "hot" can that be?? In any event, I really would like to lose 70# by August, and if that's too much, then at least 50. And my walking goal is at least 2 miles a day on a regular basis so I'm "trained" for all that walking in Scotland. I'll be starting at the gym Wednesday morning--treadmill and eliptical trainer, here I come! Just add a little more each day until I'm up to the 2 miles a day, at least 5 days a week. Once the weather gets warmer, I'll switch to walking around my neighborhood. The dog will appreciate the fun of "walking me"!

Oh, okay, well no congrats yet, but I'll be your walking buddy! I'm also overweight and middle-aged (47) and just diagnosed with arthritis in my right knee. I know that my joints can't take all this weight anymore so I'm determined to lose 75 pounds by September. I've decided to walk for 1 hour, 5 days a week. I started last week and I've done it every day except weekends and when the gym was closed for the holidays :woohoo: Let's check in here each day with how we did to keep each other accountable. ;)

Wow, that is really cold, for where your at!

Yes, it is, but at least it usually doesn't last very long! :)

I know! :scared1: . I am not even going to mention that some strange girl at school threatened DD today over a boy. Yep...day three of the new year haha.
But, I have always been an extremly positive person and I firmly believe that if a year starts out rough it can only get better from there...knock on wood. :goodvibes All I can do is pray for FIL (and my DH who is extremly worried, but respecting his wishes and waiting until Saturday) The rest is out of my hands. And to think a week ago it was so quiet around here.

I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes and prayers for my FIL. :grouphug: I am really glad I found this thread. I will let you all know how it goes on Sat. For now, I have decided that I am going to use the zig zigglar method..PMA Positive Mental Attitude...

I know what you mean! January 2nd - my freezer went out (we have the extended warranty and they're coming to fix it today). January 3rd - came out of the gym and my car battery was dead (it's 5 years old so probably time to replace it). Now I'm waiting for the next thing to happen, because my grandmother always says that bad things come in 3's! I love your positive attitude :goodvibes I've always been an optimist too, but DH, on the other hand...:confused3 I guess we tend to marry opposites!

At least wanted to say Hi.:hippie: Nothing much really to say. Slowly winding out of the vacation mode. We don't start everything back up until Monday. When we start back though, I will have to be in overdrive. So many things to accomplish.:scared: I'm NOT going to start thinking about it yet. Still on vacation.:surfweb:

Hi Shmu! DS drives back to college tomorrow and we start back on Monday too. We got kind of behind this fall with our Disney trip and remodeling 2 rooms, so we've go to get into overdrive too and I dread it! DD and I are both very laid back people so it's hard for us to keep up that intensity. Maybe you can give me a push :rotfl:

Okay, it's official just finished last day by day booking!:yay: Disney 11/25 -12/3:woohoo: Just had to share, and I better get off been on most of the morning. Need to get something done today!

Congrats on the booking! We went the exact same dates this (whoops, LAST) year and we had a wonderful time! Love all the Christmas decorations and stuff going on! We're considering going back again next (this!) year at the same time, but it depends on finances. Hopefully it'll work out!

DD is 16...17 in another week and a half.
I did find a teachers thread and one lady had some really good advice for me with DD's situation (or lack there of...who knows with teen girls lol)_ As a parent, I can't just "let it go" The question at this point is "what to do? what to do?" lol.

Oh yea, who the heck IS Blake Shelton anyway haha.

My DD just turned 17 in December but we homeschool so haven't had to deal with that situation. Have you talked to her about how to respond when that happens? I know when I was that age I never knew what to say when someone was mean to me. Maybe you could help her think of some good comebacks! I hope everything works out

I was also going to ask who is Blake Shelton, but I see that others have answered. I've never heard of him either!

I was able to change my signature and add the mardi gras mask. I also found a little "mardi gras" sign. Gotta keep up with the "holidays". And I finally made a new ticker since our vacation dates are official. Only 10 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days. Boy that seems so far away.

Love the mask and sign :thumbsup2 Congrats on the ticker! I always love making a new one! (It'll be here before you know it!)

Hi everyone

or just to say HI:)

Hi Kayla! Thanks for checking in - that's so sweet! :lovestruc

I actually don't even go to the CB. Now that I'm getting notifications again, I just click on the link in my email.

Well, hope everyone has a wonderful day and a great weekend! We're taking DS out to eat tonight to celebrate his birthday early. He will be 19 on January 19, but he's leaving tomorrow to drive back to Orlando so he won't be here on the actual day.:sad2:

Love the mask!!! and I want to do a ticker, how do you do that:confused3

DS b-day is tomorrow and he has half day today, doesn't leave me much time:rotfl:.

Go to tickerfactory dot com and choose what kind of ticker you want. Next your pick your ruler (hint: click on the page numbers to see different ones, not "next"). After you've picked your ruler, then click "next" and choose your slider (same thing about the page numbers). Then click "next" again and enter your date and what you want to call your event and your time zone. Click "next" again and it will show your ticker. If you like it, cut all the info under 'bbCode'. Then go to your User CP and click 'edit signature' and paste in the info where you want it. TaDa! You have a ticker! :yay:

:bday: to your DS! How old will he be?

We have lots of January birthdays. My DFather is New Years Day, Niece the 11th, DS the 19th, MIL the 19th, DIL the 21st, G'mother the 29th, plus a few more uncles, cousins, etc.

:yay: Hey guys! It's been a while since I've posted on this thread, but I'm glad I found you all again. Hi Princess! I have to say it - you're so brilliant! You called it perfectly :worship: Glad you're back!

I missed the beginning of the story, but I believe Magikitty is in the Philippines for a family wedding.

Hey killers!

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Hope everyone is having a great day. Still cold here in the South, but supposed to warm up this weekind.:yay:

Must go, children need attention.:)

I just cannot believe this thread...had to come here before I even unpacked! I've gone from post 630 to 720 but have no more time to catch up! Everyone seems to be going strong---lots of new names here too!
I drove to Orlando the beginning of Dec and got back to Mom's yesterday. The weather change was a shock--we left the day it was getting cold there. We have friends who live near Sea World. Did lots of neat things(not Sea World)...feel like I should do some kind of a trip report...know I'll get lots of pointers from you all. I do have some pictures to learn how to share.
I went to the SALSA sale that Disney employees can take friends to. Got 2007 cruise scrapbook, pages, photo book, and cruise bag 70% off! We had a great 3 night cruise too! The food was wonderful...time just went so fast. I got a beautiful Mickey/Minnie Christmas sweater that was way too hot to wear.
Magikitty---you need to make those wreaths and sell on ebay! I saw one at Michaels that was white like snow...wish I would have taken a picture of it.
Must get something done here...The only good thing about coming back to this cold is knowing we can talk Disney here...

Welcome back!!!!!!

Oh, someone asked where magikitty was...she is in Asia...or something like that lol...The wedding.

Welcome Back:cheer2:, nice to see people coming back and keeping up:goodvibes. Guess you were write about being moved, still trying to get use to it:scared1:. Magikitty, should be in Korea today, making her way to the Phillipines for cousins wedding.

When did 47 become middle age:confused3 :rotfl2:
Not getting notifications again:scared1: and it's running slow!! a happy B-day to your son, sorry he won't be home on the actual day:sad1:
Blake Shelton, I just realized that I went to change my ringback tone on my cell. Guess it's time to take the Christmas music off:laughing:, and forgot that I have his song Some Beach for my summer ringback, (if you like sand and surf and margarita's you'll like this song!:thumbsup2
I love all the decorations too! just hoping I can deal w/the crowds the first half of the time we are there:confused3, but we always said we wanted to try T-day and we still didn't want to miss those first few days of Dec. so this works:).

Go to tickerfactory dot com and choose what kind of ticker you want. Next your pick your ruler (hint: click on the page numbers to see different ones, not "next"). Thanks, for the instructions:goodvibes, I am going to try really really hard to do that later. Who am I kidding after getting frustrated I'll probably have DD help:rotfl:.
DS will be 10 or as he likes to say a decade old.
Wow you do have alot of Jan. birthdays in your family, guess Christmas doesn't end in Dec. w/ your family:rotfl:.

Hi, AUdisfan
What do you mean they need attention?:rotfl2: :confused3

A big Welcome Back:grouphug:, sounds like your December was great:goodvibes, I think we do need a trip report:thumbsup2.

Hey the dancing banana stop dancing on the smilies board:confused3, Okay he's dancing again!

Welcome back!! you've missed a lot!! it took me so long to catch up, when i came back from disney and i was only gone 1 week!

Yep, sort of slow. Not that there aren't 100+ things, I should be doing instead of being on the boards:rotfl2:. DS had 1/2 day, then back to pick DD a couple hours later, so it sort of breaks up the day and really can't do much:guilty:.

Ok, I've sort of caught up and there's WAY too much even for a multi-quote. So, I'll ask the self-serving question first, and try to comment on the rest later.

What's up with the 5X points? I have a Disney Visa, but haven't gotten any special offers. I've seen it mentioned a few times, but haven't actually found the original post yet, are they currently offering 5X? Do you need to sign up for it?

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

whgrn-I think you were the one who asked about the Celtic Festival here. It's held the last weekend in September every year. Since you have family around here, I can't believe nobody told you about it. They have bagpipe competitions, traditional foods, and Highland games. It's officially called the Celtic Classic. http://www.celticfest.org/2007CelticClassic/index.html It's a pretty nice way to spend a weekend.

Yup, that was me dreamin! Can't believe I've never heard of it. I will SO be there this September!! Thanks for the link--I'll check it out.

I gave my DH a Nintendo DS for Christmas. I wasn't sure he would enjoy the games we bought. Every time I would look around he was playing. I noticed that he took it to work with him. I hope he doesn't get in "trouble" (children....:confused3 ) :lmao:

:rotfl2: I have a DS too and I love it! I first got hooked on my kids' Animal Crossing games, which was why I got it, but then I discovered Brain Age and I was addicted immediately! I'm such a child!

As I was hitting submit to my above post, our phone rang. It was my brother in law letting us know that my FIL called and wants the family to meet at his house on Saturday to discuss the results of his lung tests (they found some spots in a routine checkup) Kinda scary since he is normally a tell it like it is guy.

Just trying to round up lots of prayers for him. :sad1:

Hopefully he is just going to give a "Close Call" speech, but early prayers never hurt anyone.

Praying already! I hope you're right about the Close Call speech, but either way, remember he is in the Lord's hands.

Morning everyone!!! It is sooo cold here today. I hate the cold. And yet next week, they are predicting temps back into the 50's. I just can't take changes like that.

Have a little news to share. DH and I were invited to go to Vegas in 2009. And with no kids. :woohoo: We have never been before though both my parents have gone multiple times. They say it's nice. Has anybody else been there? I know it's a long way off but it's never too early to get the ball rolling.:goodvibes

This weather is crazy! But I'll take the 50s over the teens in a heartbeat!

I've been to Vegas twice--once with the ex and once with a group of girlfriends. Both times were good, but you can guess which one was better!:lmao: I LOVE the fountains at Bellagio, and there are some great shows at the various hotels. We've done some other cool things too, like M&M world. Where are you staying?

:cool1: :yay: :woohoo: Guess what?? Notifications are BACK!!!!!:dance3:

I got my first one just a bit ago, for a different thread. All these posts here and not one notification for me! I just go from my subscription page--I'd NEVER find them otherwise!

I started last week and I've done it every day except weekends and when the gym was closed for the holidays :woohoo: Let's check in here each day with how we did to keep each other accountable. ;)

Sounds good to me! I'm starting slow--1/4 mile each day at a slow pace (1.5 mph) and then I'll increase it gradually. My hips are NOT amused by this change! :rotfl: I also did 10 minutes on the elliptical trainer Wednesday and today (no time yesterday, and honestly my legs were so sore from Weds, I probably couldn't have done it!) Tomorrow I'll do my last .25, then Monday move up to .30, and increase by .05 every other day. if I go any faster, my body will refuse to cooperate! I just want to be able to do 2 miles at a clip without difficulty, by August. I think that's very doable with my routine. And losing 70 pounds will only make it easier!!

Well ladies, I'm off and running again--such a busy day! TTYL

Walking is the only exercise I enjoy. I have a walking buddy her name is Amber, an 11 yr old mutt. She doesn't understand why I don't want to walk when it's 20 degrees out! Lucky for her it usually doesn't get THAT cold more than a day or two. We walk about 2 miles every morning. Last year I started walking at mid day also (for fall, winter, spring, too hot in summer). I thought Amber would have forgotten about our mid day walks but nope. She gets all excited when I eat lunch because she knows the walk is next. I use my elliptical if it's raining but it seldom rains here (it's boring) :rolleyes1
Even with all this walking I haven't lost any weight  , at least I haven't gained. I might have to cut out dinning out. :scared1:

Good afternoon all!! Just bumping us back up to pg 1. (It is so darn easy to get lost here on the CB)

Kudos to those of you who walk on a regular basis. Wish I was more disciplined with that. I do try to walk the kids to school a few days a week when the temps are not near 0. :cold: And in WI we may be able to start walking again in... MAY:rotfl2:

Pepper - How is your FIL doing? Still in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope everyon is having a good day!
