Can't think of any idea's off the top for telling grandparents. Has the 5 year expressed wanting a sibling? Maybe one of those books about being a big Sis/Brother. My DN's bought one for my DD when my DS was born. This one was more like a baby book parents keep but it was made for the sibling to record everything. :goodvibes It was geared towards kids.

thank you all for the congrats! I am so excited and not at all feeling sick (please pray that will continue!!!) My little sister is getting married next week in Hawaii and having a reception dec 28th, and I don't want to "steal her thunder" so I'm trying to keep it quiet until then. It sure is fun having lots of friends on this thread to tell though:banana:

Bopsmom: yes! please be Merryweather!

also, I'm trying to think of a "clever" way to tell grandparents and our 5 year old. any ideas?

Maybe itty bitty mouse ears under the tree?
Perhaps a "Baby New Year" theme to surprise the family after the wedding.

omgracious.. so much to catch up on.... I have been reading TR's and it takes up alot of time but they are so great!!

Okay... I came over here to post and feel a little bit better about myself. I to back a fellow Diser on another post about "Spending too much at Christmas" and I was ripped 6 ways from Sunday :sad1: All I said was I too thought people spend way to much and it wasn't what's under the tree that matters. Well, I heard stories about a poor childhood and how buying tons of gifts for their kids somehow makes up for that injustice. They told me I was judgemental and on and on it went. :guilty: On a good note, I don't think I was ever quoted so many times in my life before.
Wow...is it just me or are some people just altra sensitive on these threads????
Need some love right now .:grouphug:

Akuna Mattata... (sp?) I havent seen that thread.. :( otherwise I would have posted... I totally agree w/ u on the presents thing. Its going to be my DS first christmas and I CANT WAIT.. but I want him to know what christmas is really about...We are blessed in more ways then one and he will always know the true meaning.

ok, since this is the "feel good thread" , and since I have great news to share but DH and I aren't "officially" announcing it just yet, I thought this would be the perfect place to share my good news (since I'm so happy I could bust but can't tell friends/family just yet)...........

just took 2 pregnancy tests and both were positive!!!!!

YAY!!!! WTG! Congrats! wishing you all the happiness in the world!! My Ds is 9 months and I cant wait to have another baby.. (people think I am crazy). I was just checking my ovulation calendar... Dont even know if that works!!!!

Can you hold in the excitment till then?!?!? you can always get them a Christmas ornament that said grandparents and leave a spot open for this baby... ( i noticed you already have a princess) Cant wait to read about you telling them the news! :santa: Again congrats! :cheer2: :grouphug:

I didn't put this in but here is an idea:idea:

Shmu did it again! Great post for her pretrip---I cried.

Missingthemouse---there are books about having new brothers/sisters for kids and maybe a new brag book for grandparents.

thanks for all the great ideas! I remember seeing a cute brag book last week, I could get one for the grandparents and let our 5 y.o. daughter explain when they open it. She has been asking for a brother or sister for months now, so I think she will be really excited.

I am so glad I have y'all to share this with! It's so hard to keep it quiet (esp for me b/c I have a big mouth about everything) :hyper:

This will also make our march WDW trip even more special, b/c it will give us some great quality time w/ our 5 y.o. before things get crazy

Just checked in to catch up! New babies and 2 day Park tickets and Group Hugs! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Congrats on the new little one. My sister had a baby this morning....8 lb 15 oz, 22 inches long...His name is Ethan and he's doing pretty good...still on oxygen and they are correcting a low blood sugar problem. Mom is doing well.

Will see her day after tomorrow when I take Mom over for a visit.

Good news here also. DH has been released to go back to work and got his disability check today too! Also, the new abandoned kitten let me pet him/her this morning when I fed. Looking forward to Turkey Day, Turkey Pot Pie, Turkey Soup and Turkey Sandwiches.......... So things are good in West Virginia.

Just wish I was packed! Still working on Christmas presents!

Have a great Disney Day all!

PS. Someone could PM me a Thread Killer Banner. Sure would appreciate it if I figure out how to add to Signature, lol.

(Someday I'll learn how to multipost)

Welcome to the World Baby Ethan! What a wonderful day this has been for so many of us!

(I don't know how to multi-post either. I may try someday)

:grouphug: What a good day for good news.

I pmed you to forward the directions I got from Disneycrazycrewuk. Some ways work for some of us but not the other. :confused3 If it doesn't work, ask again. Someone can help!

Hey ya'll!

First of all, welcome to the world Baby Ethan!

Second of all, what does it mean to multi post? :rotfl: Just in case ya''ll didn't know I was clueless, theres the proof.

Gotta go do the :laundy: Does anyone else find themselves spending so much time on the Dis that there is little time for other things? You know things like housework and feeding the children.:lmao:

Yeah, I do! Actually, this past Wed. DR told me left foot could go into a sneaker, but right foot another 2-3 wks. Long story short, lovely evening, get together w/friends they have a beautiful 3 tier deck built in benches no back railing. End of night lets take pictures 3 of us go to get up 2 go in the right direction and I guess I did what you would call a back flip? It was elevated and below was river rock:eek:. The good news no head injury, the bad, 2 broken feet and 5 out 10 toes. The upside spending lots and lots of time on the boards, and I found this thread!:thumbsup2.
oh, i feel so bad for you, that is terrible! but i thought it was great that you could find a good side too (being on the disboards). that's a great outlook!

off topic, does anyone know much about GPS? Thought I would surprise DH with one for Christmas but don't even know where to begin. I'm hoping they will be on sale Friday.
i don't have a GPS, but my aunt has a Garmin, and she RAVES about it. she absolutely loves it!

lots of hugs from those of us on this nice thread! i agree with you though, i have seen a lot of oversensitive people on these boards! it's pretty ridiculous, especially since it seems that the thread you were answering was an opinion type thread!

OMG!!! 31 pages, I'll never catch up!

Just back yesterday from WDW, and I had such a wonderful time. And, thanks to the encouragement on this board, I took some notes while on our trip, and I think I'm going to try a trip report.

I'll post the link here... once I figure out how to do it! :rotfl:

what amazing news!!! i know i'm a little late with my congratulations, sorry!

i have two ideas that may work for telling the news.
when my sister was pregnant (the first in the family) she gave me an ornament that she had made that said "Aunt Susie". so when i opened it and read it, i was screaming with happiness. you might make one for your daughter to say Big Sister. i don't know if she can read yet, but you could read it for her! maybe it can come from Santa?
the other idea is not really a new one, but we gave my mother a frame with an ultrasound picture in it. she figured it out pretty quick and was so excited.

anyway, good luck holding in the news until after the wedding, that's going to be hard!! no champagne toast!!

i thought i could explain how to multiquote since a few people are mentioning it! there are a few icons at the bottom of each post.
the first is "quote" and the last is "quick reply". in the middle is multiquote. you can click that for each post you want to quote and when you've chosen all that you want, you click "post reply" at the bottom left of the page. then you'll see all of the posts in the reply box, skip to the end of each and type your reply. it's easier than i thought it would be, i was nervous to try it but finally i did it!:hippie:

hey, welcome home!!! it would be so cool if you did a trip report!! when you get a chance, check out shmu's pre TR. i don't know how to post a link to her thread but you'll see it in her posts! once you get caught up, you'll see we'll all be very supportive and read it religiously!!
hope you had a great time and can't wait to hear all about it!

Thanks for the well wishes. Multi post??? I really need to learn this stuff. Still working on gobbled, tried playing w/it today but couldn't get it:confused: Maybe b/c I'm on a mac so I don't have a left click and right click on my mouse. If anyone knows different instructions for mac please let me know. Of course who am I fooling I still wouldn't get it! ::rotfl:. But it's worth a try.
Thinking of how this thread got started and talking about putting stuff in sig's, I have asked 2 times for help on the tech board on a thread that people asked for help putting there dvc pic's. Yeah, so I guess I am a thread Killer:eek: , or really just a do not reply to her post killer. The worst is when mine question keeps getting skipped and the others get detailed instructions for all the other post or someone replies to people, check your sig's 'I did it for you'. hey, I found this great thread so sig's who needs them? But I really do want to figure out how to do them:guilty:

I've been gobbled by tiggerfan1 (but I'm still trying to figure it out;))

welcome back MagiKitty! Can't wait to hear more details about your trip. What a cool story about the pixie dust! WDW truly is a magical place, and I've always wanted to go on a Wishes cruise. pixiedust:

off topic, does anyone know much about GPS? Thought I would surprise DH with one for Christmas but don't even know where to begin. I'm hoping they will be on sale Friday.

What I do if I'm going to buy something like that, that I'm not sure about is I go to Amazon.com and do a search and check out the reviews for the buying and they give great info. And once I narrow it down to 2-3 I'll go to the store and actually look at the one cause w/ electronics I like to see the products. I did this for my wife's MP3 player. And it worked out great.:thumbsup2

Our daughter LOVED it when we got her I'm gonna be a big sister t shirt and then I'm the big sister t shirt later. Or ask the gandparents if they can babysit the 5 yr old in about 9 months!:thumbsup2

missingthemouse - I think there was a thread about creative ways to share baby news. I believe it was on the family board.
My suggestions to you might be...
- Bringing a dessert to Christmas dinner (one of those decorated big cookies you can get at the mall) with just your due date printed on it in pink and blue frosting. It will get everyone guessing and then they get to eat the cookie afterwards. This is how we announced our engagement to our parents and it was a big hit.

- If you get an ultrasound picture before then, put it in a frame and wrap it up as a gift saying "Your new grandson/granddaughter"

Thanks again to everyone here for the group hug. I am feeling much better now. :goodvibes
