Thoughts: Sci-Fi or T-Rex

I'm debating between Sci-Fi and T-Rex. DH and I have been to Sci-Fi before and thought it was fine and really wouldn't have to go again, but I think my four-year-olds would love it (they have never been). I am also thinking of doing T-Rex. None of us have been there before. I checked out the menu online and I think it looks like there are a lot of options; definitely more than Sci-Fi. So, my question is, out of the two, which one would you choose and why? We are not on the dining plan if that makes a difference.

Here's the "readers digest" version.... Both have cool atmospheres, but the food is much better at T-Rex. Your decision must become whether you want to eat in the park (Sci-Fi) which is convenient and an experience within itself, or if you would rather have better food (T-Rex, but its inconvenient unless you are planning to be at Downtown Disney for that day).

T-rex is very dramatic. We loved it and all of the kids (ages 9, 6, 6, and 3) claimed it was their favorite restaurant EVER. And,we were on the DxDP so we ate a lot of TS meals. That said, Sci-Fi was in second place (but it wasn't even close, LOL).

T-rex was awesome. The food was alright, apps were great, meals were so-so. The atmosphere was fantastic.

I guess I'd pick T-rex, for the kids, of course.

While both are very unique dining experiences, we vote T-Rex-it is really cool!

Our 2 oldest DS's will be turning 12 and 5, they have the same B-Day and have both requested T-Rex for their B-Day. It's really loud, has great animatronic Dino's, the food is plentiful and very good.

We have been to Sci-Fi once, and while the atmosphere is really cool, our food and service was less than stellar.

Try T-Rex, it's alot of fun!

We have yet to go to Sci-Fi, we actually have reserv. in October, but last trip we ate at TRex and LOVED it. Food was great, atmosphere was fabulous and my DS5 still talks about. I highly recommend T-Rex.

I guess you could say it is similar to the Rainforest in that stuff is attached to the ceiling and all sorts of movement, sounds and lighting changes occur every 20 minutes or so, with the "meteor showers". It's definitely a must do for kids.

I like both but would probably go with T-Rex. I don't think a 4-year-old would be afraid of the dinosaurs, but I'm not sure. My youngest is 19 so it's been awhile since I was around a child that age.

:)

definitely T-Rex, while it is about like a Rainforest it is way better. you get plenty of food, the ice cave is cool especially during the meteor shower.
we tried Sci-Fi and vowed we would never go back. we are not picky eaters but there was nothing that stood out, just had burgers. the food was not that great. When we were choosing where to eat during our planning, the reviews in the books made it sound like they showed old B sci-fi movies, wrong, they show clips of movies on a loop that is like 15 minutes so it gets old.

I vote TRex too. We were there a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I thought the food was much better than Sci-Fi. I will say that I will avoid the ice cave next time if possible. It's really cool at first, but the changing lights got old as the meal went on.

We took our 6 year old son to TRex last year, and he loved it!! Make sure you have reservations- we didn't and it was quite a wait. We sat in the ice cave and my son sat petting the Wooly Mammoths the whole time! :rotfl2: The atmosphere was much better than Rainforest. The food was also good. My son was in heaven in the gift shop- they even have a Build-A-Bear type area, but it's Build-A-Dino. I don't think you can go wrong here with two young boys.
