Thoughts on Uber

Thinking of using Uber for the first time next week. For me and my 11-year old daughter. Going from the Hilton Orlando to Port Orleans.

Not sure how my husband will feel. He may rather us take a Mears taxi, which will probably cost double. Any thoughts, advice? I have created a Uber account and downloaded the app to my phone already.

Uber is great. My 2 daughters and I used them multiple times during our WDW trip last November. I plan to use them again when we go to DL in August. Much cheaper alternative to a taxi!

We used Uber in Disney this past December. We had a dental emergency and had to take a taxi to a dentists office. On the way back we thought about Uber, it was our first time ever using it and it was much cheaper and more comfortable. Our driver was super friendly. We were leaving the dentist and wanting to be dropped off at Epcot, it was our drivers first day on the job and first time dropping off at Disney. He admitted he was nervous and did make a wrong turn but he got us there and we would definitely use Uber again.

We used Uber for the first time on our recent trip to DL. I was a bit skeptical, but it went great! Very easy, nice, glad not to have to deal with a bus full of people trying to get to our hotel. I mean, I like the ME at Disney, but didn't have that option, and using Uber was pretty fast, about 15 min drive to our hotel, and got a promo code so it was free. Got the Uber x and had plenty of room. Definitely cheaper than a taxi would have been, which I read would be about $45 plus tip. Uber would have been about $18 if I hadn't had a promo code. I would recommend for sure.

Skeptical how? That they are legit? That it's cheaper? That there are lots of drivers available?
I'd think the thread I linked above would squelch any doubts about the service so I'd let him read that.
It's great. We use it 100% for resort to resort and from Disney to MCO. We've even used it to the parks a few times when we found ourselves running behind to meet an ADR time and didn't want to risk a bus wait

You'll have a safe convenient ride in a nice clean car at a fraction of the cost of a taxi. All you will need to do is make ressie on your app and then a car will be there to pick you up in a few minutes. I used Uber in Orlando most recently when DD and I went from an I-Drive motel to MK one morning and then back again that evening. With MK travel, the driver will drop you off at the TTC. When returning that evening we walked over to the Contemporary and met the Uber car there.

I have several friends who currently or recently drive Uber, including one friend in Orlando.

I now take Uber over Taxis. The last Taxi I took was in Las Vegas. The driver got totally lost, refused to turn off the meter and was basically an idiot. Every Uber I have been in they use a GPS to find their way, the cars are clean and they are nice.

Seriously, in most American cities there is not really any "vetting" of cab drivers. Uber/Lyft are doing just as much as your local official (there are exceptions, such as New York, but....)
(My "tip" for the Taxi in Las Vegas was "buy a GPS" he got NO tip from me which is unusual!)
