If you asked me on the first day of the cruise what I thought of the WISH, I would have told you I hated it. BUT after five days I decided that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Can't wait to go back at Christmas and we're hoping to schedule Spring Break on the Wish as well!

It is SO different from Disney's other four ships and it was REALLY hard to navigate for the first two days or so after cruising 23 times on the other ships that are all so similar to each other. We were frustrated! We kept running into dead ends and getting confused about which direction we were heading. There are only two sets of elevators on the Wish as opposed to three on the other ships. Once we came to terms with no midship elevators, we were fine and were able to find out way around no problem.

The Wish is BEAUTIFUL. The artwork all around the ship is varied and gorgeous and it would take days and days to just go around and photograph the artwork. Every time we walked somewhere I would see something new.

Our favorite parts of a Disney cruise are the spa (Rainforest Room), the shows, and the FOOD. Disney did not disappoint. The new Rainforest Room is soooooo nice, the new shows on the Wish were wonderful, and the food was just as good as ever! We enjoyed the new restaurants and menus a lot. There were definitely some hiccups but it was their first full cruise and they resolved most things by the end so I won't even mention them!

Here are my only downsides to the Wish:

1. The promenade on deck 4 does not go all the way around! We like to walk after dinner and you really just can't. The promenade goes up two sets of steep stairs to 5 and then 6 and then back down on the other side. And the other end doesn't connect together on 4 so you can't go in a circle.

2. There are a TON of bars/lounges on the ship but they all seem sort of small (same with the movie theaters - there are two now but they are much smaller). This particular cruise was mainly adults (seriously, we maybe saw a dozen kids total - I am sure it was more than that but not like a normal Disney cruise) and the lounges were SO CROWDED all the time. Hopefully this was just because of the population on board and won't be the norm.

3. The adult pool area kind of sucks. No shade, tiny sitting area near the pool. But with the addition of the outdoor Rainforest area, I don't see myself spending much time there anyway.

We took TONS of photos. If you would like to see a photo of something, please ask. I probably have it!

PS - being on a Maiden Voyage is pretty cool! We had swag in our room when we arrived and they left us goodies every night before bed too. Fun!

Bummer, I consider that a huge downgrade. I've only sailed on the Magic and Wonder, but I believe the Fantasy and Dream dropped the top-deck promenade as well, right? So we've gone from Deck 4 and Deck 10, to Deck 4 only, to nothing at all?

Hmm, I never really thought about 10 being a promenade on those ships.

Yep

Do you prefer it to the classics?

Hmm, not sure! I think I like them all in different ways! We love the Magic/Wonder but I think the Dream has been my favorite for a while. I would need to go on a couple "normal" cruises on the Wish before it could take the "Favorite" spot.

I love the classic ships, am unlikely to sail on the Wish. BUT the food court thing, whatever it's called, looked really upscale and diverse! I'm tired of cold pizza and chicken fingers.

Marceline Market seemed pretty similar to Cabanas to me, just a different look. Mostly similar food. Different layout and they serve it to you (not just for COVID, looks like a permanent design)

The quick food options out on deck are a lot better - they added a taco/burrito/bowl station, a BBQ station, plus they still have pizza, burgers, etc.

I love tacos so this was fun for me, LOL.

Those tacos look amazing...

QQ--on 1923 night did a lot of people dress in 20s outfits.

This feels like the purposely made the adult pool bad so they could charge you for the better experience.
This feels like a good place to let everyone know that the rainforest on the Wish is more expensive than the other ships. No couples pass, only individual. I believe the length of cruise pass came to $224 apiece with gratuity. (For five nights)

Is there still a self-serve buffet?

I hope they extend the hours - all but the burgers (I think that one may have been open later) closed at 6pm which was too early if you want to skip the MDR one night!

Sorry for jumping in on this thread but we were on the MV as well and are mostly in agreement with the OP's comments about the Wish. However, we didn't think the food as up to par on the Wish as compared to our experience on the Dream in May.

But to answer this question, I'd put the classic (Wonder, Magic) ships at #3 on my list. I'd put the Dream & Fantasy at number 2 but not separated much from the Wish. I just wish the Wish (sorry for the alliteration) had a Meridian and that Palo on the Wish was as good as Palo on the other ships.

Yes, we saw many people in 20's outfits.

One of the things they definitely got right was the pizza, it's freshly made (not frozen stuff), thin crust and very good. I think I had more pizza on this 5 nighter than I did on all 140+ nights I've spent on Disney ships before.

I have a feeling your review will be what I conclude when I eventually sail the Wish.

I look forward to using the “kid” pools that actually have steps and not ladders. Move over, kids. (I expect to go when it’s low season for kids).

Bottom line, it sounds like yet another Disney cruise. Which is a good thing.

I never thought about ‘20s outfits for 1923. More fun than Pirate attire, to me.

Glad to hear you had a good time.

You felt it was worth it? Was it packed? I just don't want to pay a ton for it to be people soup.
