Thoughts on the DVC Lounge

Yep - the free drinks were also a big plus for me. I was there during food and wine, so it was pretty sweet to eat lunch from the kiosks and then get free drinks later in the DVC lounge.

Especially when bottled water at the F&W kiosks was $3 a bottle! Dh laughed at me, but I'll pay whatever it costs for Disney food, but somehow paying $3 for a bottle of plain water bothered me-that's when you appreciate the free soft drink at the DVC lounge!

Visited the lounge yesterday for the first time. It was a perfect place to take our youngest while big sister and dad were on soarin'. She got to watch cartoons and have some juice.

We enjoyed our visit to the lounge back in September. My only "complaint" is that if they're going to offer snacks...OFFER SNACKS. Put someone out there with the cart and replenish as needed. It was a bit weird to walk up and everyone is munching away...but there was nothing for us. When I inquired, we had "just missed" the cart but it would "be back in about 1/2 an hour". We waited. After 30 minutes and no return, we left.

That said, the Freestyle machine is AWESOME and the space is lovely! I hope it stays.

We were just there for F&W. We visited the lounge twice. Second visit had a short/small DVC meet. Nice place to sit, relax, cool off, charge your phones, have a snack.

We used the lounge last time we were there and the snack lady was there and gave us a lot of snacks. She let us know about the free drinks, but there is no bathroom up there . You have to go back down stairs ( don't forget to tell the CM your returning)and you need to exit the building and go around the outside to find the bathroom.
Not fun when it's pouring rain and lightening.

Depends on if DVD sees a benefit from it. Since it is being paid for by DVD it is a marketing tool and/or a PR tool. Positive PR and increased sales because of it and they might keep it.

Having been to the after hours parties at AK and Typhoon this year, I can understand why they don't just put them out. Some people just go nuts and load up for the next 6 months

Ok, but the gatekeeper could have them by the desk, & everyone gets offered as you enter.

There's several ways they can handle this if they are concerned about people taking advantage. For the most part though, IMO, these snacks have little cost to them. Disney charges a lot for them but isn't because it costs them more. Some will take extras and some people will take none and I'd bet it all evens out.

It's a little silly to go thru construction on this lounge and go part of the way on offerings - ie, not all members get the same experience simply based on timing.

Exactly. When you come up the stairs/exit the elevator, you pass the desk. The CM at the desk invites you to select something from the snack display. That way everybody has the option to get something as they enter, no waiting for the snack cart to appear, and the snacks aren't out in the open so people can't grab armloads of free snacks.

We enjoy watching people at buffets or the CL lounge at AKV. People are amazing.
