My husband and I attended the Mickey Christmas Party on November 14th.
It was our only Disney day as we were staying at Universal for the week.
We knew we could enter the parks early (Thanks Disboards!
) so we arranged for a Mears shuttle to get us there as close to 4 as we could. We arrived around 4:45 and boarded the monorail. When we were dropped off there were people with the wrist bands for the party stationed nearby so we got our band and headed in.
Wow - It was packed on Main Street. I mean lots and lots of people! It was hard to navigate through the crowds. We saw one poor man tumble off the curb and roll into the street. Luckily he was okay but skinned his knees pretty good.
Once we got out of Main Street we headed towards Adventure Land. Wait times for the Jingle Cruise was at 60 minutes. We thought we would try Pirates but it was broken.
Frustrated we headed to Fantasy Land and decided our best bet was to grab an early dinner and wait out some of the crowds. This proved to be a very good strategy because after we ate the crowds thinned quite a bit. We hopped on It's a Small World and then went to ride the Haunted Mansion. (Which broke down and we were stuck for like 10 minutes...)
Once things got started party wise it was smooth sailing. I don't think this party was sold out so it was actually a pleasant and fun night. The weather was decent and we had fun wandering the park and singing to the Christmas music. We rode rides as we came across them and enjoyed the cookies and cocoa at the stations set up. Most rides were 5 minutes or less and hooray the Pirate ride was up and running again so we could ride it. This is my all time favorite ride at MK and I would have been sad to miss it.
We got a good spot for the Wishes show and fireworks. We were to the left of the castle. Very nicely done and the castle was just gorgeous! I got several great pics of it changing colors.
We chose to watch the second parade and it was pretty crowded. We got a spot by the castle but we were behind a few people. Still could see pretty good though.
We chose not to get in line for the characters. Most of them looked reasonable though as we passed by them.
money wise for us it was worth it because we went mainly to soak in the atmosphere and catch a few rides. It was a cheaper option for us as we were only planning one day at MK as we were vacationing at Universal this time around. I wanted to see the castle lit up for the holidays as well as the parade. So I got what I wanted out of the evening.
