Would love to hear what you think of it. Have never tried it and thought we would eat somewhere compeltely different this time around. Positive and Negative both welcome :hippie:

I live in a region where this type of food is prepared in many local restaurants, so I don't go out of my way to experience this in WDW. Teppanaki is tasty, and fun to watch (if you get a talented, enthusiastic chef).

Because of how the chef cooks everything on a single grill, there is a possibility of food cross-contamination. One of my former co-workers has a shellfish allergy and when we would go out for lunch or dinner, she would mention this to the chef. He took an extra few minutes to double-clean the grill, then he would prepare the meat and veggies for everyone, with the exception of the shrimp, which he would only put on the grill after my coworker was served her food. It meant that those of us who ordered shrimp had a partial delay to our meal, but it was still fast, convenient and relatively safe. I assume Disney has a similar method of handling allergies.

Warning, don't wear sensitive or non-washable clothing -- you may leave the restaurant with a light coating of oil -- diners get "misted" sitting next to the grill.

It's one place we have always eaten at every trip. It is expensive and a la carte. You don't get soup/salad/meal for the price like many of this type place is. It is good.

We enjoyed it! It was different from the other food we were eating during the week, so it was a nice change of pace.

We really enjoy Tepan Edo. It is pricey; but we feel it is worth it. I have been there a few times and to a local hibachi place and I have never been "misted" with oil; but is it possible, sure. I wouldnt let that be the deciding factor. If you like that kind of food, go for it.

We ate there last week, on the free dining plan. The food was good, but I didn't think it was anything particularly fantastic, and our chef wasn't one of the more talented ones (he knocked over his volcano twice...). I actually found the food very basic: grilled shrimp or meat (and the shrimp weren't very large), udon noodles with veggies, grilled quartered button mushrooms, and sticky rice. I cook this at home, and it tasted about the same. The green tea pudding, however, was amazing! I thought it'd be a dud, and DD would be chowing down on my chocolate ginger cake. The cake was good but disappointing, with barely any ginger flavor, but the pudding! It was actually more like a creme brulee, light green in color, with a very full flavor (but I wouldn't say it tasted like tea), with a caramelized sugar syrup, just like a regular flan or creme brulee. It was incredible!!

I was there about 2 weeks ago and we really enjoyed it. Found the menu to have some varity and the adult drinks were good. The girl chef wasn't the best but she was very friendly and kind and made micky mouse out of the oil she poured on the table and onions ect. I esp love the cherry blossom martini. It was a nice way to get out of the heat of the day and we enjoyed ourselves alot. We had 7 in our party and we had the table to ourselves because a party of 2 had just cancelled. 2 in our party had the steak and shirmp and I had the sword fish and my mom had scallops. Agree about the green tea pudding but had a bite of the cake and thought that was pretty good also. Going to post a bit more once I get my act together and download my pics. But everyone in my party left happy and I guess that all that matters at the end of the day.

I don't think Teppan Edo is all the unique or different. There are hibachi style restaurants everywhere and many are just as good as Teppan Edo without that added "Disney tax".

Nothing "Disney" about it - typical Japanese Steakhouse, BUT we love it! The food is great. :thumbsup2

We had a lot of fun and plan to go back on our next trip. The Chocolate Ginger Cake was oh so yummy! Loved it. Boyfriend even liked it and he doesn't like chocolate cake. :rotfl: DS loved it and keeps asking to go. He is super picky and ate everything but the mushrooms and onions. I think it depends a lot on your chef and on the other parties seated with you. There are 10 people to a grill/table.

Whats included with the dining plan? Do we get veggies, noodles, rice, entree, dessert? Anything else?

The food at Teppan Edo is consistantly really really great.

I found the portions are the same for lunch and dinner, yet cheaper for lunch so that is when we usually go.

This is a family tradition and we have been there at least 10 times...even back when it was "Teppen Yaki"...

Yes - we have Hibachi available in our city...however I've gone there (because I missed Teppan Edo) and our particular Hibachi doesn't even come close..... (is it because it is not WDW?)

(WE don't have a Benihana which this is often compared to)

We LOVE the show... and the food and everyone in our Picky to not-so-picky family are able to find something they like...

We ate there OOP in May 2010... and I thought one of the best meals of the trip... The mushrooms were TO DIE for...and when a table mate we just met threw hers away.. I almost asked for them LOL ROFLOL:lmao::rotfl:

I probably agree that if you live in a city with plenty of wonderful highly rated hibachi restaurants... this one may not rate... but for US...It's Fabulous and we never miss it !

Hugs,
Mary

We also live where there are many of these types of restaurants so I havent been in awhile plus I was very dissapointed that they didnt serve fried rice with your entree, its noodles. Here you get this huge serving of sesame fried rice and its amazing!

If its not something you normally do I say go for it, its never had bad reviews that Ive seen

If you have a Hibachi restaurant near you, odds are it is a lot less expensive and much better than TE. So with all the dining options at WDW I would suggest eating elsewhere.

However, if you don't have this sort of restaurant near you that you can visit, it is worth visiting at least once.

Thanks for all the great info. Makes me want to book an adr ... wait I tried and NOTHING was available! Oh well, I will just keep trying and trying and trying! Someones got to cancel, right???

Just wanted to say we ate there like two weeks ago and the food was really bland. Also, the chef we had didn't really do any "tricks," only the onion volcano. I have really good teppan where I live and the best trick I've seen was a shrimp being flipped into a friend's shirt pocket. So it was a little bit hard to feign excitement over an onion volcano. If you've never eaten Teppan, you'll probably have a great time, but if you're used to good places, I would really skip it...

When we went we had never been to that type of restaurant before so we thought it was great! Knowing the kids would enjoy it and it was ok to bring kids to we tried our local Hibatchi place and well Teppen Edo is now on our NEVER again list. Our local place is so much better. The food is better and you get more of it my steak isn;t cut up into pieces smaller then an M&M. The show is 10 times better with fire, flipping and throwing things and they really interact with the customers. And well the price is half! We have them popping up all over the place in South Jersey now and each one is different and better then WDW!
