Thoughts on taking a 3.5 year old to dinner show?

Would you or have you taken your 3.5 year old to the Polynesian Luau or the HDDR? We've been to the Luau when it was just us as a couple but I'm not sure if a it's too much for a younger child to hold their attention that long. I think she'd enjoy the dancing and music but am just not sure. As for HDDR I've always wanted to see it but am worried that DD won't get the jokes and won't really get into it much.

We LOVE HDDR!!! It is a must for us each trip. Youngest DS was 2.5 & 4.5 the 2 times he's seen it. He loved it both times. The show totally held his attention!!! You should go...it's so much fun!!:thumbsup2

Hddr is a must for our family too. My kids are dd18, ds12, dd4. We go to hddr every time we go. The last time we went my younger one was almost 3 she laught the whole time. The first time she went she was 18month she laugh when we laugh. So i said take her .

We went to HDDR when our DS3 was almost 3 and he did GREAT! At that time he wouldn't sit through a movie or anything else, but the show is anything but monotonous and there is a lot of audience participation, so it held his interest the entire time. We all loved it - my only problem with it was that it was extremely loud and I wasn't expecting it!

We went to the Luau when our son was 4. This was back when it was Mickey's Luau with characters. He fell asleep before we even got going into the dinner and missed the entire show. I didn't think the food was that good and would not do it again.

Hoop de doo would be different. The music and action is lively enough to keep the child's attention.

We also did the HDDR with our son who was 2 and he loved it as well. He really likes music so it was a lot of fun.

It sounds like HDDR is the clear winner. Thanks for all your input. I'm excited to try it out and see why everybody loves it so much!

We did the luau with my 4 year old nephew. He watched for about 15 min, but it wasn't enough to hold his attention. He wiggled and squirmed and walked around the table for the rest of the show. He didn't really enjoy it . I can't speak to HDDR.

Definitely HDDR! My kids love it. It is a lot of singing and dancing and constant movement, so it will keep her attention. It is also a very relaxed atmosphere so it is VERY kid friendly.

We took my son to Dixie Stampede in Brnason for his 2nd birthday and he LOVED the show! I have never seen anythign keep his attention for so long!

hddr is so much fun - kids love it! Mine were 22 months and 3.5yo our first time, and about 2 years older each the 2nd time. Each time, they both loved it and didn't get bored at all. We also did the luau once when they were little... it was just ok - boring at times - I won't do it again, but hddr is definitely on our list.

I'm planning on HDDR when we go with our son (who will be 4 by that time). I think it looks like a blast.

We took DS to HDDR in December when he was 3.5. He loved it and it kept his attention the entire time. He still talks about the girl with the funny voice.
