We just came back and had a spectacular time, just the 2 of us, walking hand in hand amongst the flower and garden festival, whooping it up at ESPN weekend, swimming in the pool and relaxing in the spa...and I want to go again. :cloud9:

We are new DVC'ers - just bought in the fall and for the past 2 trips we have been averaging every 4 mos - Nov and Mar, albeit without the kids. We are up in July if we stay the course but I cant help but think of how HOT and STICKY and CROWDED it is in July. I cant see that being the best time to go with the kids for the 1st time. Should we wait and do it up more in the fall? I feel I should tell you I live on the beach and dont lack opportunity to enjoy it. :goodvibes

Just looking for and appreciating your thoughts...:upsidedow

You know; I think it's all based on when in July you go with regards to crowds. Yes it's going to be more crowded than say May but try and stay away during the July 4th time frame.

Hot; yes; it's Florida but if you plan your days including mid afternoon breaks for swimming and relaxing you should be fine! For many years prior to joining DVC I had no choice but to go during July or August and we did ok. We went to the parks early before the crowds arrived and then headed back to our resort in the early afternoon for lunch and swimming. It helped to break up the day and then we went back into the parks later on.

But....depending on the ages of your children and whether or not you can take them out of school; October is a beautiful time to go! :cloud9: I go each year in addition to June.

There's the routine! :thumbsup2

It's doable, not the ideal but the heat and humidity are more tolerable on vacation than having to work in it! We go every June and then again in Aug just before school starts. During the summer the kids prefer to do the water parks (TL & BB) rather than the theme parks. If we do the theme parks it's early in the morning and back to the resort. At night we often go to DTD to eat and go to the movies (nice cool theater).

When we took our 3yr old DS for his first time we were worried about the crowds and the heat as well ( we knew our 9 yr old DD could handle anything). We decided on the begining of September around labor day weekend, there were NO crowds and the weather was gorgeous. I hope this helps.

Of our many trips to WDW majority have been in July and August because we don't want to take kids out of school and the kids themselves have expressed that there is too much work for them to catch up on if they miss more than a day or two. It is hot, but as other posters here have said it is very doable with a plan. What we like most about July-August is the parks close later in evening and once the kids were around 12 yrs Extra Magic Hours Evenings became just awesome staying in park until 1 or 2 am :yay: And late night swims are fun too, it's always warm enough to do that :thumbsup2

Give it a try, you & your family may find that it works well for you :goodvibes

I agree, our first trip with the DGC was in the heat of the summer, and it did work out fine!
