We are thinking of trying Sanaa in November. It seems like it gets pretty good reviews. However, we weren't huge fans of Boma when we went 2 years ago. Are they pretty similar?

Can't speak to the similarity to Boma (as I have only been to Boma once and it was many years ago), but Sanaa is wonderful. It's one of only a couple non-signature TS restaurants at WDW that I go to on a regular basis. Just had donner there last month and it was really good. If the menu appeals to you, then Sanaa is well worth a visit.

I'm with madalex on this one. I went to Sanaa recently and loved it but have never been to Boma. But Sanaa is for the more adventuresome eater. If you prefer "meat and potatoes" you might have a hard time there. We had all samplers: bread, appetizer, salad, dessert, and it was a lot of fun! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Boma and Sanaa are pretty different dining experiences. We didn't have a good experience at Sanaa, but it was due to the service and not the food.

:)I haven't been to either Boma or Sanna, but have heard good about both. I'm not a big fan of buffets, so we will try Sanna on our Dec trip. Our family likes to try diff foods. The menu looks pretty good, so I guess it is worth a shot to try. If you don't like it, just don't go back..

Boma and Sanaa are very different. Sanaa is much more of an Indian restaurant with African influences, while Boma is more of a African-flavored standard buffet experience, in my opinion. Both have some middle-of-the-road options, but there is more varied experience at Boma.

That being said, Sanaa is doing more experimenting and envelope pushing than any other Disney restaurant at this point, I think. It is my favorite 1TS restaurant at WDW, and I have sampled many of them.

We really enjoyed Sanaa at our visit in January. The food was great and somewhat outside of the box, but even my 5 year old daughter enjoyed it. We had terrific service and a great view. The place is beautiful (even the bathrooms are gorgeous and have a story behind the materials used to make them). We were trying to figure out what some of the animals were outside so our server gave us a book with pictures so we could look them up. We even asked them for the recipe to make the dessert we had because it was so good.

Our Ratings of Sanaa: (rev 1/23/11)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: C
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff helpfulness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Sanaa has good regional tasting food.
Although Americanized, definitely more adventurous
than many other WDW eateries. The food quality is
well above average. However, some believe the price
to be too high for the food. The benefit here is
one can view animals on the savannah while eating.

The food may be Indian inspired but if you go expecting Indian food, you will be disappointed. That does not mean it's bad; it's just not Indian. We think that for a WDW 1TS restaurant, Sanaa is above average. The dining experience is definitely better than at Boma because the noise level is at least cut in half.

Thanks for all the responses! Sounds like everyone enjoyed it, so we will give it a try! :)

Ate at both last week. Sanaa is now my #1 favorite, Boma #2...

I think Boma and Sanaa are for adventurous eaters. Sanaa had better service than Boma and a much better view. Sanaa also has much more of a quieter atmosphere and is a bit less expensive than Boma. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary try Sanaa. If you are looking for more standard fare, I would try something else... Good Luck!

We LOVE Sanaa. The service was the best of our entire trip, and the food was outstanding. Plus, I loved watching all of the animals roaming around the savannah outside. :goodvibes

Sanaa is my fav #1 restaurant in all of WDW:thumbsup2

We'll be trying Sanaa on our next trip. We've been to Boma and there was things we loved and things we didnt. Sanaa seems more of an indian resturant have you looked at the menu?

I read your wedding PJ and TR I didnt know you had a son when I opened the post I saw your name and then the baby I Awwwwed! He is soo cute how old is he? Congratulations!! :flower3:

I've really enjoyed Sanaa both times that I've been there. I was not wild about dinner at Boma.

We went to Sanaa for the first time a month or so back, and we enjoyed it. I wasn't blown away or anything, but I would certainly return. I'm not much of a Boma fan, so for me to say it's better isn't saying much. If it helps, here's a review of our experience.
